I think the problem, is intensive farming.

Just an example of the degenerative process. All ancient peoples realized the cyclical nature of time. Each age becomes worse than the one before it until things hit a destructive point, which leads to a puryfing renewal. But things will eventually decline and the cycle continues. It sounds pessimistic, but its reality.
