Sorry, my brother is wrong. It is not Lighthouse doing the new film, it is Legendary Pictures. And I think they may do it justice this time. After they did Watchmen, TDK, Batban Begins, Superman Returns, 300, ect.
...mmmm I really don't think so, Godzilla can only really work if put across with a Japanese aesthetic, in Japan Godzilla is seen as an almost divine deity, in America they made him look like a giant soulless dumb dinosaur with stupid hollywood effects.
Because the charactierization and aesthetic synonymous with Godzilla is purely Japanese from the music down to the action I just cannot ever see Americans putting out a good Godzilla flick, and many Godzilla fans feel the same.
And many Godzilla fans think that this is going to work. Legendary Pictures has handled all of the other pop culture icons they have made films on with dignity. If they find the right people, it can work.
I can easily see Hollywood putting out a Solid American Blockbuster film. The CEO is a big Godzilla fan himself, an if they spend the time to get a director that respects the franchise unlike ''Roland Emmerich'' then i can see it being worth seeing.
Just because 1 attempt failed doesn't mean there's no hope, The 1st Hulk was Crap the 2nd was good plus 300 an there Batman's have been amazing.
I look forward to Legendary Pictures Godzilla n 2012 but ill wait 4 the trailer 2 decide
We might get a teaser by the time ''Batman 3'' or the Spiderman Reboot comes in 2012, considering Godzilla will either makes a December 2012 or more then likely a Summer 2013 which seems a lot more possible since we have no cast or director as of yet.

Well King Kong is just that, a GIANT GORILLA. And he WAS indeed shot by bullets in the original 1933 King Kong movie.. Though Toho made him bigger and he was owned by GODZILLA!!! IN the jp version at least...

Varan would've been in Mothra's place, had Toho allowed director Kaneko to use the monsters per his original story (Anguirus, Varan, and Baragon; the latter got used, and the latter two were replaced with King Ghidorah and Mothra, respectively).
