  • THATS NOT THE SAME ONE YOU FORGOT TO ADD THE SPIN THEN THE TWIST

  • ha that was cool!

  • Um.. That's not a lick.. That's 5 stroke rolls, singles, and stick spins....

  • Haha cleean..

  • @cddrummer96, Actually untrue, There we're real bands, the only one who wasn't real was A&T's Shit head.

  • That kid on the left marched Blue Stars last season. And hes only 15 years old. That kid has some sick chops.

  • Omg I knew that kid on the left looked familiar! Blue Stars baby!

  • wow thats pretty cool... in our band, we have only one white drummer, but well hes not technically all white, hes mixed but looks mainly white and we got about 7-8 white kids in our band total xD

  • @jrockk523 what does white or black have to do with anything? If you groove, you groove.....case closed

  • My old high school drumline instructor did basically pick up and play. He left us though because he got a job offer at k-state to instruct their drumline :(

  • sharpest dressed drummers ive ever seen

  • Very good!

  • yall had white people on yo drumline?!?!?! what tha mess!!! thats so cool!!!

  • @jrockk523 look up blue devils or scv. theyre all white haha. but there's a black tenor player on scv

  • Aha, I remember Alex showing me this on tour, I miss you guys :/

  • Hey guys... can anyone tell me how to do that left handed stick twirl? Just wanna teach a bunch of novice high schoolers some fun tricks...we're from a crappy school and still struggling to understand sixteenth notes so would be awesome if someone can teach me how to do the twirl... and seriously, what's with the elitism! lol, have to say the movie has really awesome choreography, might not be technical, but that's not what people wanna see :P

  • Pizza face

  • where is this at in the movie?

  • lol, this is funny and all, but I must say you DID ask for all these youtube retards to comment...so if u didn't want all these youtube know it all fags to comment you shouldn't of begged them to comment in your description lmao, but both your video and the pathetic ass comments made me laugh, so nice

  • this video sucks.yall werent even playin it right

  • that not even how you do it i will show yall how its done

  • Lawls drumline the movie is a bad joke

  • sad face

  • ahahahaa alex i cant believe i havnt seen this video yet dude! good luck this summer at bstars dude i love you

  • lol drumline the move deserves to die

  • @grim1131 yo chill out like u could do better have u ever heard of just havin fun?

  • SSDfan your comment is bullshit you guys look like your 12 and you cant go out for the crusadares because you suck big hairy balls.

  • Everyone is so angry. lol. Wasn't bad at all considering how difficult it is to transcribe filthy playing. Drumline had some of the worst playing I've heard in my life, which is sad considering they could've easily hired kids like the two in this video to play it MUCH cleaner for the already-staged movie. Bottom line: nice job and I'm sure you had as much fun as I did picking out licks from that movie and cleaning em up. :)

  • Fun to watch actually. Hope u guys go far^^

  • Wow you guys need to chillll the F out haha This video is SO old ...now Alex, on the left, plays for the Blue Stars and I'm going for Crusaders next season. We were just goofing off before a district concert we had...seriously...it's a movie, it's nothing like real DCI. We all know that.... is it really worth the rage and comments?

  • @SSDfan I highly, highly, HIGHLY doubt you guys are marching drum corps.

  • @SSDfan according to all these faggets who take it seriously that would be a yes

  • @SSDfan I agree

  • @SSDfan dude the movie was about HBCU bands and how they do things. but sadly they failed cause eveything you saw inthe movie does not happen in hbcu bands in real life. and just because something isnt dci doesnt mean it isnt real

  • @SSDfan honestly i dont believe you about the blue stars and crusaders but your right kids need to stop hating

  • @nuckalheads13 watch?v=GYrbfcKxbmo left end of the snares....definitely him lol

  • @SSDfan whats the kid on the lefts last name?

  • clean up those rolls

  • Yeah...what he said done there.

  • lol if its so easy then why is it dirty as hell? lolol

  • Gay... No one even likes Drumline the movie because it's fake!

  • Well...seeing that in the movie you DID here cadences played that means SOMEONE DID play them. So the movie is not entirely fake, and the cadences are real.

  • That was so lame. I played that in beginner band

  • Comment removed

  • Noice.

  • That was SWEET!

  • that was okay but your visual need to be more clean

especially at the end of it when u stop and bring your drums stick reset back together th kid on the right was late and the one on left isnt intimidating enough everything should be clean when ur a drummer trust me i d know

  • that was legit!!

  • very nice guys!

  • Fail.

  • You guys are just as good or better than the drummers in the movie.

  • @braktheitalian well thats cuz they arent even playin in the movie! these guys know the lick, and do it well, but drumline is a staged movie, noone actually plays

  • @cddrummer96 not to be rude or anything but if you watch the special features in the movie they had to go through months of training to learn how to drum. You can't really fake drumming. but yea they were all really drumming even Nick

  • @MrDrummersamsam watch the scene in i think the first game where nick gets on his knees during the solo. hes clearly not playing on a certain roll

  • Actually, he's right, but not entirely. None of the actors in the drumline played in the movie. I am one of the real drummers that actually played in the movie. Everything you saw and heard was a real drumline. (Black college drumline). I marched Santa Clara, and I have to tell you, coming from a different discipline, it takes a special kind of person to march show style.

  • @cddrummer96 people play, nick cannon and the person that plays sean don't play though

  • @cddrummer96 ...actually nick cannon did learn how to play snare for the movie...

  • @iluvceb no he didnt you never noticed in the movie how you never seen his whole body when hes playing? you either see just his face wuth some ugly as look on it or just some hands playing. and its not something you can just learn it takes way more than that

  • @jsk8drummer google it

  • @iluvceb im not gona waste my time mabey your right but im just assuming based on what i saw in the movie and the fact that you cant pick up playing snare drum and be good at it just like that it doesnt work like that

  • @jsk8drummer i didnt say pick up and play. i said he learned. as in a while before the movie. if he was gettin paid enough, i bet he learned quickly. now he probably didnt play EVERYTHING but he learned most of it

  • @cddrummer96 everyone actually plays in the drumline movie. they're all real drumlines.

  • @EnriqueEmersonGreen real shitty ones

  • @EnriqueEmersonGreen actually they recorded the songs and cadences first then they filmed the bands dancing and marching. so they were indeed faking their playing. if you watch closley to drumlines you will ntice that the sticks are not actually hitting the drum.

  • @EnriqueEmersonGreen Dude everyone does not play in the drum line movie. You think Nick Cannon can actually do all that and play it cleanly? No. Did they record real drum lines... yes. However the people in the movie are not playing. Notice they hardly never show the entire body during a lot of the close ups. It's either the upper half or the drum. Also watching the drum parts and listening they don't always line-up

  • @cddrummer96 THEY DO PLAY THEY HAD TRY OUT FOR THE MOVIE BUT NICK CANNON WASNT BUT EVERY ONE ELSE WAS

  • um, it's true.

  • so, soooo, lame

  • Haha this was awesomee :) It made me laughh!! Amazingg.

  • sux

  • Hmmm. I give big ups to DCI's and Show Bands, ther're just two different styles, get over it. And drumline the movie was fake as pam an's breastssss. Nothing like that happens in a college in the SWAC.

  • thats why its called a movie

  • private school plus drumline beats equals GAY

  • ok if i saw one DCI film i wouldnt b sayin wat im sayin i saw more than one and plus people in regular marching bands u mean 2 tell me they don't have talent either

  • paradiddle, double paraddidle, single strokes double strokes basic rudiments dont get mad at me cuz DCI just play fast not sayin thats a problem but thats all they do thats just boring and is anyone goina notice that DCI plays rudiments when they play every percussion plays rudiments dumbass its not just DCI

  • i agree DCI needs to add some varity not just fast all the time

  • You know what's cool though? You guys are actually as dirty as they are in the movie!

  • Please don't tell me you guys actually took that movie seriously. Stop playing that crap.

  • you are kind of an idiot

  • ...seriously, are you fucking retarted?

  • Successful troll..

  • wat the hell are you talking about first of all the movie drumline is about college any dci use things called rudiments in their music which is one of the hardests things to do if you actually knew your rudiments you could pick them out. You don't understand music at then.

  • yeah.... they play a variety of tempos within a show. They dont just rock a beat for ten minutes. DCI is something that requires an open mind and talent levels of all sorts.... from show band to corps style.... you might have watched one shitty video of DCI and said its dumb.... but respect and they will rsepect you back.

  • dci is not boring but hey thats your opinion but keep that shit to yer self dumbass

  • this movie is terrible. its a disgrace to all drummers, but most of all to all dca and dci lines in the world.

  • nerrdddsssss .....

that's okay though, i'm a nerd as well

    POWER TO THE NERDS!!!!

  • no, just,... no...

    (walks away in disbelief)

  • ......yes???

  • this is amazing!

  • private school? or uniform public?

  • Really dirty, thank god you didn't play this on actual drums.

  • even though its easy

  • awesome

  • They never get laid, this video is for fags.

  • lmao.....yes das all i have to say

  • DCI corps are comprised of brass and percussion instruments only. Drummers who participate in DCI are usually drummers in college or high school, they can participate in DCI because drum corps. is a summer thing. While in a way you are right about the whole "best" thing. Their are many many many talented individuals who have honed their craft to be called the best. Its not that the best are in one corps but all the corps in general. You have to be the best at what you do to make it.

  • Not clean

  • good job. the movie has no bearing on what it means to be a line though. ive been on a line for 3 years. we do crazy ass shit. and we have alot of fun doing it. but seriously that movie is awful

  • you both did good

but the lick itself is shit, so as the movie

  • i jus hav to say you guys seen tht movie too many times if you can play it. get a life

  • the worst thing ever seen, from the worst movie ever made

  • Drumline the movie makes me want to throw up please learn something elso

  • nice one of the few good vids ive seen and their little kids lol keep it up AND MAKE UR OWN thats how you get know

  • I'll cutt all yall in that

  • yuh rocked dat boy!

  • :L Class...

  • Comment removed

  • its sounded just about as bad as that in the movie.

  • i agree drumline was a bad

  • Archives: I personally have learned a LOT of DCI pieces, including but not limited to: Cheesy Poofs (SCV) Electric Wheelchair (SCV) Ditty (BD) Glassmen 2005 Cadence and so much more. I don't have a camera to post to be honest. Go to the Boston Crusaders camp next season and you'll see me no doubt.

  • Just a heads-up to all the little faggets that love to spam their shit knowledge on our video comment board: This was just a quick/fun lick we learned over a year ago while messing around in a cafeteria. I never even mentioned DCI in any way shape or form in league with this playing. Go flame post somewhere else, seriously. We all know the whole movie was a giant fluke, and DCI is completely different, so STOP YOUR BITCHING FFS.

  • ppl work there asses off and probably sacrifice a shit load to make it in drum corps and this makes all that work go to waste..........and hurry up with the dci shiz u said u will learn some a long time ago what the hell?!!!

  • dweebs.

  • OMG dude this so NOT COOL at all

  • i should probably hit you in the jaw right now. DCI actually takes some major chops to be in, but lines like the one in the movie fucking suck. no skill required whatsoever. in my line, its 50 push ups for anyone who quotes or plays anything from the movie drumline.

  • Wait there buddy... I'm not gonna lie that most of the lines in that movie suck. But BCU is actually a decent line and Morris Brown was a fantastic drumline. Have you actually seen Morris Brown in person?

  • ha this is cool.i can do part of it

  • BOOOOOO!!

sorry to burst your bubble, but this isn't cool guys.....

  • damn dude! the one on the right is on FIRE

  • are you kidding me?! there is a difference between what is in the movie and what DCI is! the movie killed DCI in some ways!!! now all people associate drumline with is the movie and that is far from what it really is!! DCI is the only truly undiscovered art form left in the world! everything else is so mainstream, but DCI has a select fan base and shit like drumline the movie make our achievements look like shit!!!

  • "DCI is the only truly undiscovered art form left in the world!" Wow.....that's a stretch.

  • dude calm the fuck down...yeah DCI owns...but Drumline is just a fucking movie...if they did a drum corp. movie...not everybody will apperciate as much as all that fancy BS you see in the movie...so just CHILL

  • the movie "DRUMLINE" has truely created such a misconception when it comes to the term "drumline". DCI never comes to mind because nobody is exposed to it, and if it is brought up, "show-style" players don't appreciate it, and think that we're a bunch of stuck up technical guys who "don't know how to feel the music".... i say fuck that. if the Cavaliers (for example), were to verse any "SHOW-STYLE" band, they'd fucking rape them in the ass and whipe up the floor with them.. i'm so tired of it.

  • i would like to applaud you and say thank you for backing me that this is complete crap!!

  • true that man.

i hate when people mention this unrealistic movie to me when i tell them i am on the line. its not what its about.

and the cavaliers are my favorite. 2002 man. :D

  • the cavies are my favorite right now too... 2002 was a good year, but my favorite for them was 2006..... the battery was on fire that year, and i loved the machine show.

  • marchine was a cool show most def.

though i think the groove section of frameworks is what makes it my favorite. ;)

  • OMG!!!! Finally I have met someone who thinks the same way i do!!! Ya that movie is sick and all, but it is so unrealistic

  • listen man i understand where u are coming from listen although people hate the movie drumline, and always saying f and screw showstyle bands thats not cool man. Black drummers have influenced certain aspects of the entire art of snare drumming b cuz originally all those tricks werent a part of traditional drumming. Now about the DCI I love DCI. I enjoy watching the cavies and bds. Comparing DCI and HBCUS is like comparing apples and oranges bcuz alot of schools have different styles

  • You have a good understanding man. I don't understand why everyone compares HBCU's to Drum Corps? Drum Corps are pretty much comprise of the best instrumentalist from all over the country. I can understand if they compare the to other colleges but not DCI.

  • I'm not a drummer, but a fan of drumlines in general. What is a DCI drum corp? and how does it differ from college drumlines? You mentioned that dci are comprised of the best musicians from around the country. Then there surely must be only one dci corp. Otherwise how can there be many different dci corps if it's supposed to be made up from the very best? please explain.

  • and because their are so many its just based on musical preference and what youre looking for in a drum corps experience.Year in, year out the top 5 or 6 are usually the Blue Devils, The Cavaliers, Phantom Regiment, The Cadets, The Bluecoats, and more recently Carolina Crown

  • the above video is not an accurate depiction of what to expect in DCI. The movie Drumline is based on "show bands" and DCI is more of a traditional style.

  • Thanks alot for that info I really appreciate it. Peace!

  • I'll try to explain, though I might miss a few points. DCI stands for Drum Corps International. It is a yearly event in the summer where the drum corps from around the country come to compete against eachother. They are often made up of the more exeptional musicians. The reason that there is more than one is that there are different corps around the country. Like a college line the players must try out for a spot but also pay an entry fee (if I am not mistaken?)

  • The pay for the tour.. That's the only mistake u made, other than that its all true.

  • College lines are full of drunken frat boy faggots, and dci lines are full of precise badasses.

  • truth dude.

  • I'm in my college line and I marched Crossmen. ;]

  • okay well dci is made of many great musicians, some corps have better reputations than others which in turn means they have a better draw for great musicians. dci is more of a military type marching style whereas like college is for entertainment purposes only.

  • HBCUS are more reflecting the styles of African esque drumming grooves and energy that is reflected in the dance moves. Now take vsu drumline they groove in the hbcu sense but they are also very technical. When make a blanket generalization like that its untrue and unfair. There needs to be no need for this showstyle vs DCI in the end all that matters is respecting the love I respect anyone in corpsstyle or DCI and Id chop with them if the opportunity presented itself. So instead of saying DCI

  • Yeah they should check out, Johnson C Smith, Prairie View A&M, North Carolina A&T, Albany State, SCSU, Shaw, Hampton(Blue devil snare), or Norfolk State(Blue devil tenor). NSU even did a commercial with BD and are sponsored by Dynasty. these other guys should do their homework. I went to school's that a HBCU esque. they are ok. I prefer DCI though. And even though I've defended the HBCU style of drumming that movie did suck lol.

  • exactly i love jcsu i might audition for them but i kno exactly wat u mean cuz it is darn near impossible to get into a good a corps and its not very hard to get into hbcu if u ghave some pretty good talent but thanks for seeing that way God bless u man and keep choppin ! Nick cannon does suck lol

  • lol. I think the movie was just horribly put together from a Drumline standpoint and the syncing was horrid as well. The audio didn't match the visuals at all. But yeah man. Its great to see someone else with that understanding. God bless you as well.

  • You should just try be open minded and respect the love man we can all learn from each other. That's just my opinion Peace man

  • yeah maybe if you have no chops, like the people playing in the movie!! go watch some dci stuff and learn that!!

  • The people in the movie do have chops......it was a movie man.....I hate these type of comments.....and i'm a BLUE DEVIL/DCI Fanatic!!!!!!!! Truth be told,if it wasn't 4 the movie.......DRUMLINES WOULD NOT BE AS POPULAR AS THEY ARE NOW!!!

  • maybe you guys should learn some dci stuff instead of wasting your time learning this crap!!! just a thought....

  • idk what ur talking about that was pretty sweet

  • Dude..... just shut up...yes DCI beats out everything else and they always will but the guys in this vid have some skill. So instead of being a jerk why don't you actually critique them and give them ACTUAL advice?

  • that was nice,guys

  • Alright I'll post the ACTUAL lick when I get the time, as a reply to this video. Then you can stop your shit-talkin. It really doesn't matter how good the snare players are, because you need the WHOLE drumline to kick ass.

  • oh believe me "having a good snareline" DEFINATELY MATTERS...... that comment in itself is just ignorant

  • if its so wasy then play it clean aight?

  • Nice

    awsome !!

    (y)

  • Haha I should just remove this now, it's so old lol. We're both way past this :P

  • lmfao

the good oold days huh billy well im made spartans but i dont think i wanna do it lmfao go figure dont delete the video cause one day we can look back on this and be like wow i sucked in eight grade or what ever you were in lmfao

  • haha you play just as dirty as the ppl on the actual movie...that movie is gay any way it's basically that movie bring it on with drums..

you posers post some videos playing actual music and maybe ppl will respect some more...

  • you guys are a bunch of christian faggots

  • haha...niice

  • lacks cleanliness...

no offense...but you should try learning other things besides "licks" from drumline the movie. a lot of that stuff was rather..embarrassing to watch from a drummer's point of view.

  • duh, they were bored at a solo & ensemble festival, so they occupied themselves with this

  • good
