There is ZERO archaeological evidence that the Romans ever crucified anybody on a traditional cross! For the Romans considered crosses of that kind to be symbols of VICTORY and used them for TROPAEUMS! Now there is SOME archaeological evidence that they nailed people to T-stakes with "seats" that compelled the crucified to commit sexual turpitude in public - google images for "Puzzuoli Graffito" and "Crucifixion Gem." The condemned criminal died in utter humiliation.
You may be popularizing archeology which is a good thing and injecting humour into it but there is an undefinable something I do not like about the naked archeologist. One of these days I will figure it out.
the naked archeologist is a clown, he isn't even a archeologist. he is a fraud, just the title of his show is out right lie. how you can trust this journalist when he misrepresents himself in every episode is mind numbing.
@TheEvolver311 He never claims to be an archaeologist, he refers to himself constantly as a "host". Which is what he is. He travels around speaking with experts and archaeologists, so I think it's stupid to assume he misrepresents himself. I actually find the show's unbiased presentation of information refreshing. It always shows the different sides and the evidence supporting the different sides. Of course It's always wise to do your own research.
@NOCTURNALCURVES i didn't say he claims to be a archaeologist, but if you turn on a show called the "naked archaeologist" then you would expect a archaeologist to be the host( not to mention he gives his opinion as tho he had some formal training). i said the title is misrepresenting.
he is also very biased in that if their is a orthodox jewish opinion on the issue he will favor it over any other. not that there is anything wrong with him favoring a world veiw but it is a bias.
@TheEvolver311 How many episodes have you watched? I have never noticed any input of opinions whatsoever. I simply look at the information he provides us with by travelling to Israel and talking to archaeologists. If you can find a show hosted by an archaeologist about similar topics, I'll gladly watch it over this show. For the time being I see nothing wrong with what I've been watching.
@NOCTURNALCURVES i've watched all the episodes. if you do not believe that deciding during the production of the content to disregard the majority concensus with in the field of biblical archaeology in favor of a minority opinion that happens to line up with his personal opinion doesn't constitute a bias then your delusional. he decides who to interview, he edits content, of course he doesn't need to display his bias he simply produces content in favor of his bias.
@TheEvolver311 Also he IS a journalist. Maybe the should should have been called "The Naked Journalist" But that wouldn't sound very enticing, and he does use archaeology to figure things out. "A journalist collects and disseminates information about current events, people, trends, and issues. " That sort of seems like what he's doing.
@NOCTURNALCURVES i would disagree with most of your statement, the vast majority of archaeologist take the minimalst stance because that is what the archaeological record tends to show. Jacobovici rarely if ever even mentions this view even tho it is the view of most archaeologist.
the only times i've noticed he supports the minimalist position is when the issue is in regards to christianity.
@TheEvolver311 I'm sorry, do you know the definition of unbiased, and without an input of opinion? I think the point is to try not to take a stance on anything and to let the viewer decide. If he's not an archaeologist the why do you want his opinion? You already have the provided, and almost always contrasting/ranging opinions from the interviewed historians and archaeologists.
@NOCTURNALCURVES the fact that he only represents a specific out look on the issue is his input and a reflection of his opinion. he ignores the majority consenses in favor of the lesser supported views that happen to line up with his personal opinion. he generally interviews the same small circle of historians and archaeologist rarely speaking with individuals that tho considered authorities in the field do not say what he wants to hear.
Jesus died on the hebrew ‛ets the same as the Aramiac a'. Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, Ezra 6:11.
translators of the Septuagint Version employed the Greek word xy′lon, the same term that Paul used at Gal 3:13. It was also the one employed by Peter, when he said Jesus "bore our sins in his own body upon the stake." (1 Pet. 2:24) In fact, xy′lon is used several other times to refer to the "stake" on which Jesus was impaled. (Acts 5:30; 10:39; 13:29) This Greek word has the basic meaning of "wood."
Galations 3:10-13. Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, which clearly refers to a stake, not a cross. Since such a means of execution made the person "a curse," it would not be proper for Christians to decorate their homes with images of Christ impaled. Early Christians did not worship nor venerated this, and consider doing such as Idolatry.
@every1hatesitschrisc Exactly. In the 1st Century CE, the Roman T-stakes, to which condemned criminals were nailed, were frequently outfitted with relatively small impaling stakes that the condemned had to sit on and anally impale themselves when they were too exhausted to stand on their legs. A google image search for "Puzzuoli Graffito" and "crucifixion gem" will give you an eyeful.
@NOCTURNALCURVES A general google for "Pozzuoil Graffito Alcimilla" should reveal something then. But I sent you a private message with three links to assist you. Hope it got through.
@EdM021 For general edification if anyone wants to google "Pozzuoil Graffito Alcimilla" should read "Pozzuoli Graffito Alcimilla." Links that contain infotdgeova and ANE-2 should contain the the best info.
mainly suffocation from hanging there like that, the chest gives in. Weird, the cross is nothing but a frame to torture people to death on, I forgot about that. So used to thinking of God whenever I see a cross.
nice, very, very, nice. Kinda makes you feel like eating a gun or something dont it?

Worshipping the cross is idolatry, which is strictly forbidden......... As is worshipping statues of the Virgin Mary. (Or any other objects)

Greek words stau·ros′, xy′lon are words the bible said were used to kill Jesus this not a ecclesiastical cross, but a stake.
every1hatesitschrisc 3 years ago
@every1hatesitschrisc Right. It was a stake, a tree, not a cross.

It's simple they die from lack of food and water, while feeling the pain of the nails in their feet and hands.

I never got that worshiping the cross thing isn't it kind of like worshiping say a gun that shot somebody?
