Reviewing this play second by second, it could have worked. If the punter had taken one step to his right and really sold it that he was running right, then cut back around to the left side of line, this had big potential. He would have had only one potential tackler, the right outside LB, but he likely would have made the one yard before first contact...plus, either the left guard or center could have released to pick up the LB, which means the punter could have easily gained a good 20+ yds.
Nobody should blame the refs. The ball bounced Michigan's way in every possible case. That's all. VT dominated them. That said, this fake would have worked if the blocker stayed with that first guy. Oh well. On to next year.
Syracuse missed a FG that was called good againt Toledo to win the game. Syracuse technically won the game but everybody in the country knows they should not have. Sounds similar to VT-Michigan.

That is just an example of one play and these were blatantly obvious penalties. Many, many more calls went against VT.

@dude2die4 Michigan did not appear to have much talent, VT was a much better team in every regard outside of officiating. Robinson was the worst QB I have seen in person all year. VT has more 10+ win seasons in a row than any other team in the country, they are not exactly struggling.
