@mrsprincess431 He is a male.., not that it matters though. Yep, the othe people are right. Although the "patient" is likely a mock patient but the demonstrator should have at least draped him up appropriately.
@pschwark I disagree. The key movement to stress the meniscus is the rotation of the tibia. So for testing the lateral meniscus you would have to rotate the tibia internally and vice versa. Inversion and Eversion are frontal plane motions of the ankle.
Hi TreasureOne, as you may well know already, if you are looking up videos about the McMurray test, but all you can seem to do is look at the mans genital region you are most likely homosexual.
@DPSGuild Ummm, I'm just stating a fact. How noticing a man's genitals when I am female makes me homosexual, I don't understand. You seem quite irrational. Perhaps instead of viewing tests on orthopedics, you should be spending time on the psychiatrist's couch.
hello will you please advice me in regards to my moms accident and resulting to spondylosis in the lumbar spine, in this case is she may undergo surgery or what?... because in the summary of impairment of my mother it was stated that" she will be placed in a DRE Lumbosacral II and award her a 5% whole person impairment for asymmetrical loss of ROM of her Lumbar Spine as well as palpable spasm"... What does it mean? I hope that you can help me on this i'm willing to give more info about it...Tnx
The video is incorrect. To test the medial meniscus you want to external rotation and abduction of the proximal tibia then slowly extend. The opposite for lateral meniscus
The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario code of ethics states that all undergarments be draped during testing or treatment, thus protecting the clients privacy. Informed Consent states; "Only the tissue being treated will be undraped at any time. Otherwise, all other parts of the body will remain covered." It may seem excessive, but in order to protect the public & as well as protect the therapist from possibly having their character called into question, these measures are necessary.

This guy is incorrectly using inversion & eversion.
Inversion = rotation foot outward
Eversion = rotation of foot inward

@pschwark agreed
gleasia 1 year ago
@gleasia and Pschwark The examiner actually demonstrated his inversion & eversion correctly.

agreed, medial you go external rotation and internal rotation for lateral meniscus.

but it should be external rotation of the foot for the medial meniscus, right?! so the video's correct?

Just to clarify here, external rotation of the foot is to test for medial meniscus tear? Shouldn't be the other way around. Please advise. Thank you.
fathelee 3 years ago
according to my handout, it is correct.
external rot. --> medial meniscus
internal rot. --> lateral menisus
I think it's because when you externally rotate the tibia, the medial meniscus is stretched, and vice versa.
westside0903 3 years ago 4
yes...and additionally stressing the medial meniscal fibers with a valgus pressure
Linoge63 2 years ago
This is a good example of this test, but for patient comfort more appropriate draping should be used

Yes, there was a kind of "Basic Instinct" situation going on there, lol.
