I finally understand her stab at survival of the fittest. This song is NOT a stab at actual evolution. She mentions Hawkings in her new song Tall Tales For spring, she might even be an athiest. This song is more about social darwinism, becuase the unicorns are the artists and the vampires are the big labels. Social darwinism says the poor stay poor rich stay rich and so it applies to the record label concept. Like the unicorns can survive.

the main hole being that darwin stated that more species kept evolving and popping up over time..like more types of life would start to come up. well, in the fossil records there is this layer called the "cambrian layer", you can look it up. well within only a couple years ALL life forms that exist today were there. not a couple every couple years. ALL the lifeforms at once..thats not sounding like evolution to me. i respect the theory, but i only respect it for what it is..a THEORY. right on.

There's no such thing as an "evolutionist", and maybe the TERM survival of the fittest isn't used in the scientific community, but it is a very accurate and brief description of what pushes evolution.

Its metaphoric. The unicorns are her hopes and dreams and fantasies. and the vampires are her managers and producers. They told her to do things she didnt want to do. so she wrote a song about the managers killing her fantasies. the blood on the unicorns is them staining her future.

i dont think darwins theory was a sham, but it wasnt simply survival of the fittest as many people think, he simply stated that the species which are best adapted to an environment will live there, so its true cos if u put a whale on land it will die. thats a really simple explanation but thats basically what it is, or what i have been taught it to be
