i imagine roy acuff would roll over in his grave if he knew what kind of crap that was being sung at the grand ole opery and the silly performances that goes on now.screw you modern day singers!!! you all look stupid!!! all of you little snotty nosed singers dont have much meaning to your stupid little fagget songs!!!
@royearlbanister I suppose people like Del McCoury, Marty Stuart, & Ralph Stanley didn't come from much beside a little backwoods town. I also assume their influences had no effect, whatever, on them. You sir are definitely entitled to your very own opinion but, what you are stating is pure B.S. where I come from. Again, to each his own but, if I didn't know any better....your just trying to get a rise from whoever you can. Shame on you, the times they are a-changing
@choottem i do appolgise to you.i was seeing who would agree or disagree with me on this old time music.i do agree with you,"shame on me".your right,i was trying to get a rise out of somebody.roy earl
@royearlbanister I appreciate that you take time too comment on one of my video's, but I want to urge you to keep the language civilised. There is no need of name calling. There is an audience for modern country music, so we should respect the singers/songwriters and their audience. There are fans of the Stanley Brothers, Emmmylou Harris, Roy Acuff, Justin Bieber, Adele, etc. People like different things and we should respect each other for it.
its too bad we dont have this kind of great music on the radio and our t.v.s anymore now a days.all of our oldtime country has been replaced with all of that modern day crap that they call country music now a days.this modern day country music is too much like that hip-hop and that ole hippie music.this modern day country music is a bunch of crap!it all sucks big time.screw all you modern day country music singers!!! yall are an insult to the grand ole opery and an insult to WSM radio.
This song was recorded on a very late Stanley Brothers album called Songs of the Carter Family; it can be date by the fact that Carter was still alive and George Shuffler had been added to the line up to bolster Carter's failing health.. It is still available - I purchased it about six months ago.
@5150sdh...Additionally, I believe the album was recorded on the King (rather than Starday) label, and had very good audio for the time. It is possible that that cut has been re-issued on other LP albums as well.
@5150sdh...I can't quite remember for sure the title of the Lp, and I have moved recently, so my albums are still packed away in boxes, but I will let you know as soon as I get to this one. I do recall that it was the first Stanley Bros. album I heard, with that type of cross picking guitar lead and back up (George Shuffler) on it.... Upon further reflection, I believe the title was "Every-bodie's Country Favorites).
I love this group and this version of the song. I obtained the LP containing the recording shortly after it was released (around 1960). The vocals sounded so good to me they inspired me begin figuring out how bluegrass harmony works. Everything else being equal, I still think in terms of Ralph's tenor intervals.
Awesome vocals!!
