@cdeyoke Shinobi never used straight swords, there's no proof of it. And most ninja were of the lower branch of the samurai class, so that myth that they steal katana from samurai is just as ridiculous.
Actually, the ninja did have a fairly straight blade, known as the chokuto. Perhaps the main reason ninja did not possess or produce the samurai katana, is because ninja families were most often of the poorer social class and as such, could not afford the cost of such blades, which were curved as they were, because of the quenching method, Ninja were the anti-thesis of the samurai, not a lower branch and they took whatever tools served their purpose, including the katana, if necessary.
@owenspence FINALLY!! Someone I that knows what the hell a Chokuto is, but some of your Shinobi history is off. Actually alot of Ninja were Samurai, or more Ronin(Masterless Samurai), Ashigaru(Foot Soldier) and some farmers. The Ashigaru and farmers would've only used the straight blade until the time when EVERYONE had a katana and Chokuto were outdated. The point af the shinobi of course was to blend, so why use a blade that would make them stick out? If you wish to, debate(not argue). PM me :)
yeah i have to agree with ionfreak93 on that the handle is too long for sword but if it gives the user more comfort when swinging then its not too long:)
In that sense, it is spelt shinobigatana. ( 'K' is replaced with 'G'
Don't ask why, just some rule of the Japanese language. By the way, they were also called Ninjaken.
P.S. Ninja also used to disguise their swords as canes, in the form of a Shikomizue, which would have been helpful in the times where it was illegal for peasants to carry katana.
A Ninja sword was actually a kokatana/ kodachi or if you don't know what that is, a wakizashi length blade with a katana length handle. The sword would be in a normal length sheath in order to make the opponent miscalculate on how quickly the sword could be drawn.
I dont know anything but the basic katana grip. I didnt even know the name. But I do train with a havy ass wooden sword every day by doing the basic katana grip for 15 minutes 2 times a day. Its a good work out. Plus if I do get a regular sword id probably be realy fast. This vid is awsome btw.
He's test cutting, not chopping up ninjas. Who the hell told you five cuts in five seconds? You shouldn't comment if you don't know anything on the subject.
Nice sword, doesn't look cheap! I would like to have seen some cuts from the daijodan kamae as well. The seigan kamae is more of a defensive posture.
Watermelons are fun to cut also, if you have a cheap sword you dont mind having juice get all over.
Mr. Paul Chen, I find the 30" nagasa 9260 spring steel katana is a better cutter than the standard 27" carbon steel blade. Thank you.

lol the ninja to? Not even a real ninja sword.

Right... To supplement your comment.
The straight-bladed Ninja To that most people are familar with is a Hollywood creation.
It is not used in practice nor has any historic basis.

Mikita12131323213 3 years ago
No, there is. According to the book Ninjutsu History and Tradition, a ninja's sword was called a ninjato, or a shinobi katana.

The Ninja sword was straight but was weak so they stole Samuri swords that they defeated.
