Zen VS Ipod

I used to have a Zen Nomad 5GB, it sounded great but i ended up selling it. Later that year i got an iPod touch as a gift, i never planned on buying an iPod in fact i wanted another Creative mp3 player but i was saving up money. anyway i realized the iPod touch was great for more than just music! now i have the 4th gen Touch and all the apps are nice to have on a slim device, it's 32GB too. Now my music library is exclusively in iTunes.

I have no complaints about my Zen. I love it. My Zen is 3 maybe 4 years old now. I've replaced the headset last year and that is it. The battery life good and still good. I hope the new models today have blutooth connection but I doubt it. It supports wmv and other windows native video files. I'm not sure of all of them. But I've never had problems viewing videos I transfer over to it. But all in all, I'd go for an Ipod Touch or Ipod nano with camera.

This video is pretty old. Since then a lot of good players are on the market. You should consider the Ipod Touch or the Ipod Nano (with camera). But if you want something with a lot of memory space for just music, then i wouldn't play around with mutli purpose devices instead go with a dedicated MP3 players with a large HDD.

@Glock, I was looking at the Ipod Classic or the Itouch. The MP3 players with HDD are almost gone. The classic has 160gb. Itouch has a 8/32/64gb. Flash drives are too expensive and Apple are ripping off the consumers off I am still debating on it. If it is a 120gb or 160gb, I will get it. You still my boy Glock and I always respect you. If you have a lot of music and you want quality sound, it is important that you have a large memory space so you do not compress your data too much when you transfer the music. Anything above 30 gigs should do ok. Look into the Zune, Sony Walkman, and Zen. And also the Archos brand is nice too. :-)

If you have a MAC then definitely get something from apple like Ipod touch with at least 60gigs. You can fit a lot of music on 30gigs but with movies, that will take up the most of the memory space.

Archos gives you good multimedia functions with a nice screen to watch videos. But not sure it will work well with Macs. Read up on Archos, i believe it is more PC oriented. Remember that only Ipod will work with Itunes / Macs. :-)

actually Ipod stole the touchpad, I ve read that very long time ago, and there was quite a big process between apple and Creative about this coz Creative owns this technology. Problem is creative is so much underrated, everyone buys an Ipod instead coz its popular lol. apple and creative both made a contract so creative is now producing soundsystem for the Ipod as well D:

The Zen also has wallpaper where you can use your pictures as wallpaper. You can't do that with an IPOD. Well the IPOD classic. If you can please let me know how. No doubt the sound Quality is fierce. I love my Zen and Ipod. The Zen is definitely underrated. Its wayyy better than the ipod.

I agree. I also like the sound quality of the Zen better than the Ipod. The low end Ipod with lower memory really sucks in music quality. And if you compress the music data less to get better quality, you can't fit as much songs as it claims it can.

Currently, I'd say that the Ipod touch is the coolest MP3 player on the market today. But for just music, the Creative Zen is awesome and I love it to this day. Because it still works today. :-)

I had Creative Zen touch - now broken and now have had Creative Zen M or something like that for 2 years now. Dropped it several times and it is still the best. I love Creative but hate the new Wifi crap they have now. I don;t know what to do, because I want another mp3 player but really don;t want to go to Ipods or Zune, but ugh, I do not know what to do for my next one. I wanted another Zen M but Amazon got it now for 400 bucks! What a ripoff.

Yes, Thanks for mentioning the sound quality. I think the Zen has a much better sound quality than the Ipod. I think the ear phones sound better and the EQ and Sound Quality is much better than Ipod's.

Traded in my 80g ipod classic for the newer (credit card) size Zen. I liked the voice recorder, fm radio, expandable memory, and the fact that it would play anything I threw at it. I also used it as a mobile drive for files and such.

So true. I never have a problem with my Zen when it comes to media formats. If you can store it on a computer, it will play it. Also the features that allow you to use the Zen for other audio and data needs blows away the functionality features of the Ipod.

Thank you for the coment. The newer Zen has the larger screen and is slimmer. Compared to the regular 120gig Ipod, I still think the Zen is better. I listened to the sound quality of my son's Itouch and it was horrible. The Zen's sound quality if far superior.

Its not the MP3 player that I protest..I protest how the company that makes the MP3 player markets their product and market media for that product. I do not like the fact that you have to deal with Itunes in order to purchase media online for the Ipod.
