  • he just went Rambo on their asses! :D

  • How about a 'stupid boy' compilation? Anyone?

  • @KangoTV You Stupid boy

  • I love this episode! but the thing that always gets me is what actually happens to Walker, cause he doesn't come back?

  • lol this is fucking awesome! :)

  • All great actors, the ones of Dad's Army. But my all time favorite still is John le Mesurier. So sad almost everyone of that cast is no longer with us.

  • @MrRonaldJager

    I agree totally.

  • walker wasn't in it because he and the rest of the platoon were at the pub playing darts againts the wardens.

  • He was but they all returned as seen above. When push came to 'shoved' all backed their officer..

Dad's Army was before my time but I love it.

Walker was one of the best. Jimmy Beck was great, I think it lost something from 'Everybody's Trucking' onward, there were a few highlights but the last series was poor..

  • I love it :D

  • why isnt my generation this funny?

  • Tom, i politely ask you to reconsider this statement.

Pretty much the ONLY good thing coming out of pop culture at the moment is British Comedy.

Peep Show, Psychoville, The Office, The Thick of It, Anually Retentive and more. All of these comedies are not only intelligent and genuinely hysterical, but also quintessentially british. They are directly influenced by shows of the nature of Dad's Army, yes minister etc, its just the format of comedy has naturally evolved since the 60s/70s.

  • I see your point, and clearly yes modern british comedy does have its fortes, but my offhand comment only meant that comedy these days just isn't as funny in my opinion. Make sense?

  • Poor comment. The examples of 'quintensential' are poor. Form? Perhaps substance? What lard you talk.

  • @parksy010101

    You spelt 'Quintessential' wrong, grandad.

  • @GrandAlbo

Yes, and 'yes minister' should have capitals. Frign' clown you are. All the best.

  • @parksy010101 I'm glad you took the time to proof read my excellent comment more than once!! Happy to have helped in your education, both gramatically and with regards to comedy. Love G.A x x x

  • @GrandAlbo Yes, comedy has evolved, but from the corruption of the tv and film industry that has been monopolised, the quality of the writing is sub par. The effort is not required to get the profits from the tv deals these days, and therefore the overall quality has plummeted. There is no gentry and class to humour any more.

The office is the only exception to the rule, due to the genius of Gervais. He is the only diamond in the rough, however.

  • @Falstaff6 Bollocks. Up your game.

  • Go Wilson, go Wilson!

  • one of many classic scenes i love it makes me laugh every time ;-)... Edward Sinclair played the Verger perfectly he was an essential member of the cast for me, his facial expressions and dashing about being a nuisance... so funny.

  • Why doesn't Walker re-emerge?

  • oh yeah lol probably busy sellin stuff 2 one of the bad people lol

  • How true, I should have known...

  • I believe the BBC only broadcast this episode once because of sensitivity over references to the IRA.

  • I never saw it until I bought a DVD with it on.

  • Wonderful! They dont make Classics like this anymore, Thankyou for posting.

  • Jonesy: "He took my bayonet!" Classic!

  • What series is this episode in?

  • It is from episode 32 (title as stated) from series 4 first broadcast on 30th October 1970

For a full episode guide go to Wikipedia

  • Dads army are classics!

  • i have it on dvd!love dads army!love BBC!!!

  • The Comedy is so well written that you overlook just how well the script is acted , every character is believable thanks to some great acting performances.

  • Been a family fav all my life.

As funny today as it was when i first saw it many moons ago.

  • Dads Army was such a brilliant series.

So British so clean and so believable. I used to work with a chap who was in the Home Guard during WW2, and he told me it really was like that.

  • hI, My old fella was in Homeguard in Liverpool . He used to guard gas works at Bootle with rifle , but no bullets .

Good luck from scouse in aussie

  • OH I loved this show! It was so cute.
