I saw a Volvo V70 rear end a Chevrolet Suburban today. i think the Volvo was doing about 35 mph and the Chevy was parked, the woman was quite pissed when she cam out of the drug store! LOL
The math doesn't make much sense - assuming similar deceleration rates and a reaction time of 1.5 seconds, (so the car travels an additional 4.2m before slowing down) the speed of the second car will be more like 20km/h on impact.
Stopping in 25m in the first one has the car next to the power pole. The parked car is a lot closer than 25m in the second run - as the power pole isn't even in shot.
Try not locking the wheels up, and it's a different story again.
