@spicyxlilxman That wont work because if it's your 5th game or more in arena and you get one good game like 1800 or something, your overall rating for that day will change to that and you could just bash arena and get an onyx.
@EGLiability You need to do quite well very consistently do get a good rank in Arena. If you are a regular player, your division placement will be very accurate because your rank can fluctuate up and down instead of being locked in when you get a lot of experience, like in halo 3.

I'm an inheritor in halo reach and to be completely honest, I would go back to a recruit in an instant if I could trade it in for a skill based ranking system. I remember when I got my first 50 in halo 3 I was overjoyed. Know what I did when I got my inheritor? I was like "oh cool, I got to inheritor, so now I care even less about earning credits" -.-

Wait, I've got it. You COMBINE the two games' ranking systems. The system from Halo 3 is for your rank in a playlist, but you also get credits that DON'T count towards your ranks, but you can buy armor with it. Now everyone's happy.
They have that battle profiency rating system on halo waypoint and i think it's determined by your k/d ratio and if it is maybe they should try implementing that into the actual game
I'm looking at the players on line for reach right now, 83688 and out of that number 1365 are playing in an mlg playlist as of now. All you ranted about is the ranking system, theatre, and challenges. What the fuck? The reason the ranking system is built the way it is, is so that players can enjoy all aspects of the game and still rank up. If you love campaign you can earn credits in that, if your a firefight person theres credits in that. Bungie did it this way to so that players can seamlessl
@JescobarWR80 The reason campaign and firefight shouldn't be tied to your ranking is-suprise- you only get better at multiplayer by playing MULTIPLAYER. You can play campaign for fun, achievments, whatever. But to boost your rank? Fuck no. Even if you didn't earn credits for campaign and FF the credit system would still be atrocious. I get more xp for kill farming for 10 minutes and losing a CTF game than capping 3 the flags and winning. Don't try telling me that isn't fucked up.

I think one of the other things that is contributing to why Reach is underpopulated was that you would see tonnes of montages of clips and stuff on YouTube of like Halo 2/3, you'd watch pros play and you'd be like hey I wanna be like that and then you'd go on and play. Halo Reach has very few in comparison and so you get less people watching them and going to play the game.

Halo reach uses a stat tracker to keep you with people with similar stats, such as k/d, average score, win to loss ratio, etc. If you go on a bad streak you'll play some noobs, if you do great a few games you'll play better players.

They're not even motivated or interested in playing Halo Reach in the first place without a ranking system! Reasons Why Reach Failed: No BR, Armor Abilities Introduced, No Ranks, Armor Lock Abuse, Overpowered Sniper Rifle (as in it takes no skill to snipe someone), RETICULE BLOOM (Primary reason I quit), Sword Blocking, Terrible Maps, and there are others I cant think of... I honestly think Reach is dead. All I can hope for is that Halo 4 follows the gameplay of Halo 2 and 3 and not Reach... =/
h2 was BTB, best MP game ever in existence, it was also pretty good for free for all. MLG was put on the map by H2. Never heard of it before haven't followed it since. without H2 MLG is a waste of time to watch. nothing is better then a perfectly executed bxr. Also the massive trash talking battles. H3 was mute, plus a game that lost it's button combos/ didn't play or feel right compared to H2's style of gaming.
But to burst everyone's bubble, 343 said they won't be adding the 1-50 ranks in reach. They said they're focusing on H4, so they don't want to dedicate a whole team to adding rank. Which is unfortunate, but also understandable

Social needs a ranking system like Reach, where you get credits/exp regardless if you win or not, and you don't need to raise your skill to rank up. Ranked needs a ranking system like Halo 3 where you get credits/exp only if you win, and you can only rank up if your skill is high enough.
It would be nice if Halo 4 had Reach's ranking system as a Social rank but the game needs ranked playlists with the classic 1-50 ranking system. The social rank would be given next to the 1-50 rank in the ranked playlists to show how skilled the player REALLY is in multiplayer.

Even though hes kinda an asshole, he makes a few good points:
Halo is competitive and needs ranks.
Pros can play noobs and always crush them. Not fun for anybody.
Bloom blows balls. Your weapon craps out on you.
Lack of interesting games drive youtube commentators away.
A currency system is boring and time consuming, but not fun.
Challenges are easy and therefore mean nothing.
Winning doesnt matter.
Good players are undiscovered.
I pray they fix these things in Halo4, cuz Reach is beyond hope.

@Sc0ttyz23 1-100 isnt a ranking scale. It use all your wins and K/D and KA?D to determine what skill level you're on. EXP has nothing to do with it.

@Sc0ttyz23 i actually intend to judge a game by it's campaign... the campaign is what the designers and the developers worked on ...the multiplayer is what the community makes.
and right now the community is mostly a bunch of 12 year olds screaming their english out just because their freaking armor lock didn't last longer!

Reasons Why Reach Failed: No BR, Armor Abilities Introduced, No Ranks, Armor Lock Abuse, Overpowered Sniper Rifle (as in it takes no skill to snipe someone), RETICULE BLOOM (Primary reason I quit), Sword Blocking, Terrible Maps, and there are others I cant think of... I honestly think Reach is dead. All I can hope for is that Halo 4 follows the gameplay of Halo 2 and 3 and not Reach... =/

h2 was BTB, best MP game ever in existence, it was also pretty good for free for all. MLG was put on the map by H2. Never heard of it before haven't followed it since. without H2 MLG is a waste of time to watch. nothing is better then a perfectly executed bxr. Also the massive trash talking battles. H3 was mute, plus a game that lost it's button combos/ didn't play or feel right compared to H2's style of gaming.

But to burst everyone's bubble, 343 said they won't be adding the 1-50 ranks in reach. They said they're focusing on H4, so they don't want to dedicate a whole team to adding rank. Which is unfortunate, but also understandable

This guy totally rules. I'll always love Halo. I don't give a shit about multiplayer. I stick to H3 when wanting to play multiplayer because Reach totally fucked up the multiplayer experience for me in most parts. But, Halo still rules. I didn't really think people still cared about ranks lol.

The funny thing is that the lack of a ranking system is only one of the faults with Reach. And that that one single thing resulted in a 17 minutes long rant from a PRO-player is mind blowing. Seriously, the numbers speak for themselves as Ninja mentioned several times. There are like 50 000 gamers online on Reach while Halo3 at the same time after the release date had like sometimes 1 000 000. 1 000 000! 343, if you make H4 anything like Reach do you really expect to enhance those numbers?

dude halo reach halo 3 it doesnt matter i get mvp almost every game on both reach & 3 but i also in both games always get put with some team killer or an AFK or an idiot who is more likely to shoot himself MY point is reach's rank system is better in reach im a mythic in 3 im a captin
regardless of ranks halo now has more modders than legit players so its almost not worth playing anymore anyways

Just like Shottysnipa said below me Halo 4 needs ranked and social playlists like Halo 3. Social needs a ranking system like Reach, where you get credits/exp regardless if you win or not, and you don't need to raise your skill to rank up. Ranked needs a ranking system like Halo 3 where you get credits/exp only if you win, and you can only rank up if your skill is high enough.

It would be nice if Halo 4 had Reach's ranking system as a Social rank but the game needs ranked playlists with the classic 1-50 ranking system. The social rank would be given next to the 1-50 rank in the ranked playlists to show how skilled the player REALLY is in multiplayer.
