  • to much delay...

  • wat happens when we twist the volume nubs of the guitars would it change sound?

  • @josh995316001 On a good guitar, yeah, especially when on a distorted/overdriven channel the sound will clean up a lot since you reduce the output. Can make for some real good sounds with a simple barre over the D, G and B string and a simple strumming pattern =] For variation add a half step up on the B string or a full step up on the G (and B, or mute the B temporarily). Goes well if you've got an LP-style guitar with seperate volume controlls, switch to the fully open pup for leads :)

  • Learn me a Metallica song please?? Guitartricks rocks!!

  • Quick question, I've been learning the guitar for a few years. Whats the importance of Bar and Power chords?? Cause there is this long section on it in my guitar book...and DVD, but I keep skipping it.

  • @MusicTricia I use them every time I play guitar. Barre chords give you the flexibility to play anywhere on the neck. Power chords are easy and...powerful! -Neal

  • @XDXMIK check out lesson #52, Pick Scrape Lesson :) -Neal

  • Hey Mr. Neil, I'm having trouble with my left hand. I get my solo started, and I'm doing fine. . . Mid-way through, it gets tough moving my hand up and down. I know my scales, I know my key, but my hand pretty much locks in one area. How do I break that?

  • @XiaNingTian maybe your hand is tired and you need to do more warm-ups, more often? It's OK to play in one area but if you want to move around, start small. Play just a few notes in a different position to get used to moving around. You can even try playing the same lick 12 frets higher just to get used to moving around. -Neal

  • @Guitartricks Okay, thank you :) Lock ups... Haha, I meant that I stay in one scale position. If I may ask, may you do an episode with stuff like that? Lessons to get us moving from different positions of the scale?

  • hey neal

love the lessons, this one was new to me

do you have any tabs for the riff that you play at the start/end of this lesson?

  • @cheezles2 YES! got to guitar tricks dot com forward slash channel (can't post URLs here) and look for this lesson, #11 -Neal

  • I think he meant A minor, not A

  • I know you guys make tonnes of videos, and maybe you've done this already, but i need a lesson on pick harmonics. If you got it ill look for it. THX!

  • @The13thPhoenixx check out #6, we have a lesson on that -Neal

  • looks like the bald guy from tenacious D lol!!

  • he can play

  • i like it but i only done 5 guitar lessons and cant do this lol

  • my cord just fell off in the talent show but luckily i won yay

  • I doubt that this is as easy as you make it look/sound.

  • nube licks

  • Does anyone have any tips on picking because i feel like my picking isn't as good as my left hand playing the notes :// pluss my picking keeps me from playing songs so can anyone give me any advice or anything i can practice to improve this?

  • @Balo103 Try just doing a simple exercise as , hitting the open strings without looking, at first down picking as you descend , and up picking as you ascend. Then alternative picking both ways on the open string. And when you do exercise's or even song, that require precise picking, always go slow, to build up your hands and let them adapt to the speed. As you practice your right hand can play with the left. Just go slow and then build up speed , because going slow builds up accuracy for your

  • @Balo103 fret hand as well as your picking hand. Try that and good luck. Keep playing you will get it. Peace.

  • can you tabs this out??? plzzzz!!! :)

  • @iEpicFail247 Yes, tabs available for free at guitar tricks dot com forward slash channel, look for this lesson -Neal

  • haha that 2nd one was used in the u really got me solo!!!

  • @Gviolent94 good call, yes it is! one of my favs -Neal

  • You remind me of Kage from Tenacious D

  • what were you playing at the beginning

  • Really though, A MINOR PENTATONIC TRILLS? And with a bend from D to E? To a new guitarist, this is fine. To an advanced guitarist, this has to be the most overused thing of all time. :D Can't say it doesn't sound cool though. It's almost like this one time I watched my friend pick up a girl with his "musical talent." He played her a Billy Joel song, and 90% of it was in G Major.

  • How the hell is he doing that bend so quickly?? Anyone have any advice on these techniques

  • @makeyourself236 Bend up towards your face and not down and it will be a lot easier to do it without pulling off. That's something that's hard to get used to without starting early. If you are already doing that, it's just a matter of having played guitar for a while. I practice about four hours a day.

  • I don't like ur echo

  • you have some REALLYY nice guitars! on all of your videos

  • Thank you sooo much i've been studying classical for years (im 17) and starting to really get bored of it now but am completely clueless how to get some improv and personal touch into the guitar...this definatly helped with some cooling up fo it :D

  • sounds like slash

  • I am planning to buy the 1 year subscription on Guitartricks website . I am a beginner - novice player and I want to get really good at the guitar.I like to play metal and stuff. Can anybody please advise me if its good enough course ? Should I go for it ? Because there are like thousands of courses online and I am very confused.

  • I always lose my belt around my shoulder... On my Les Paul, the attach point near the neck, always loosens, which causes the belt to jump off :S Nearly dropped my guitar few days back U__U any tips to prevent it?

  • Very helpful thanks alot for posting!!

  • Sweet lesson, 3 more licks for me.

  • i got an ampeg vh140 love it

  • @ryno4150 great amps!

  • Thanks for showing some specific fingerings!! We all appreciate it. I was wondering though what effects your using for the sound. Do I hear delay, echo, and the slightest flange? Im having trouble getting that arena sound. Thanks ahead time for a response if your able to.

  • @seancloonan22 You're welcome! A little delay and I think some Phaser on this one. -Neal

  • Ah, that second lick is the one I was after and hadn't been able to quite suss out on my own. Must...play...faster.

  • aw sweet this vid is just what i needed

  • hey is there any right way to hold a guitar pick and frets i find it very frustrating:(

  • i KNOW you can get a better tone outta that. wheres that tubey crunch mannnnn. sounds too clean like....someone doing a youtube video... hook yerself up to a germanium big muff!

  • i want to start playing the guitar, i own a few. any words of advice? whats some good things to start out with...

  • @Ibanezbass2510 this lesson, then Guitar Tricks! really! you'll learn fast!! :-)

  • Thats nothing new! Thats just Slash's licks!

  • @ImagineHowItIs back farther

  • @ImagineHowItIs it's an easy and useful technique for starters, just like he said in the tutorial.

  • @ImagineHowItIs If you think Slash invented it or is in any way original, then please go get educated.

  • ok NO guitar tricks

  • i really don't like it

  • good old les pauls giving out the inntonation on that g string.....sick vid tho man

  • dude you rock

  • thanks i always wondered how to do that kinda pull up lick .

  • Hey, I started to learn guitar some time ago and now i dare to learn some soloing techniques. But, I gotta problem: when i bend a string the lower string makes a tune, too. And that destroys ervery lick. WTF am I doing wrong? Any tipps? Btw: I learn it autodidactly so I cant ask a teacher to eyplain it to me...

    Good lesson!

  • @TheYuLeeAn you should check your guitar with a luthier man...

  • @TheYuLeeAn Hey there, first of all thx!

It sounds like you have a floating bridge? (tremolo bar?) What happens is when you bend a note the bridge is pulled slightly because it's on springs. This makes the other notes go flat a little. It can be annoying. When you get better at muting noisy strings, that will help.

  • I THINK YOU ROCK. THANKS FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO TEACH OTHERS.

  • Just play the rest of the Heartbreaker lead.

  • Hey, G! One other commentor already posed this one to you. I'm just wondering myself; you axe looks like a Les Paul Custom, Wine Red w/cream trimming. I had one like it a while back and still pissed that I sold it. It was a little difficult to play but it was solid and kept a tune even after a little "abuse"! Can't afford another one now but I can still dream. . . nice vid, real informative. Keep 'em coming. PEACE!!

  • @woodie62 Hey woodie, thanks man. You got it all right and I had the same situation. I had one of these a long time ago, got rid of it and always regretted it. That's why I got this one, once I replaced it the regret went away :) they are getting harder and harder to afford. Dang collectors are driving the prices waaayy up.

    -Neal
