You can, but if you have Illustrator, I would use that. It's a lot easier to make more detailed illustrations in Illustrator than in Flash.

Cool I like this vid... but can you please help me... after you drew the dogs body and added the gradient... you drew legs on the dog that shared the same gradient... HOW DID YOU DO THAT?

I'm drawing a tree and I started with the trunk, put the gradient on and then drew the branches... but when I put the gradient on the branches it doesn't flow like yours, it makes a new gradient, ya know? please help!

You multiple select (shift+click) all the parts that you want the gradient to spread across, then reapply the gradient swatch.
