@abble0009 hey, what i do is basically play the music through my headphones and i'm just recording the drums using the mics. then i overlay the mics on top of the original track but make it loud enough so the original drums can't be heard. does that make sense :)

basiaclly my mixer outputs the inputs (mics) via the Behringer U-Control UCA200 audio interface (2 x RCA cables to USB). the catch here is that you are getting one signal to your computer so you have to mix everything right beforehand. otherwise you'd need an expensive interface that records multi-track (look for Ultra Fast Ultra/FireStudio etc). let me know how it goes mate!

actually, after listening to this again..i think i did have a Rode NT1A condensor mic in the background. it picks up most the sounds better and it sounds louder. the behringers help the toms. if u check out my newest lily allen cover, i didn't use the Rode NT1A and thats why you can't really hear my drums as much. and i dont' actually lower the actual drums, i just put my part louder. u'll notice also in the lily allen cover u hear more of her drums come out!

hey man before u buy some behringers, can i suggest you not. they are not designed for drums. have a look at a pair of Rode NT5s or something. i might be getting them soon. sm57s are good for snares/toms as well.

hey mate, for this recording, I'm using an Audix D6 on the kick drum and also 2 Behringers (see my profile) as overheads. 3 cords connected to my Behringer mixer and outputted via one stereo track to my computer using Adobe Audition as the mixing/editing software. As far as I remember, I didn't use any effects or anything it's quite raw.

I think you will be a very good drum player with a little more practice which I'm sure you already know but you definitely have potential to being very very good. I watched the other video with Taylor Swift's "You Belong to Me" and you were good at that one also but I think this one was a little better. I think it won't be long before you get it down.
