Nice job and great idea putting together a visual and audio time line.
With cultural evolution theme in mind, I've posted the video, "40 years in 3 minutes", which is a music video containing the Beatles' rooftop performance, historical events over the last 40 years and 8mm film antics from the period, all cut tightly to GET BACK and GLASS ONION. Hope you enjoy!
I think that music went downhill several times... The Day the Music Died, after the invention of disco, and after rap.... During all of those times, a lot of strict music fans practically left. But long guitar solo's, hair bands, and pop/rock has brought fans back... That is the truth, no one can deny it!
This was pretty cool! Although a little too general because it doesn't cover not even half of the music genres out there, but it was cool to see how the music changes. It's kind of funny how I was thinking "man, I know ALL these songs!" until it started approaching the newer era, (mid-90's on) there were a couple I've never heard, haha, I'm so backwards ;P Yet is kind of sad that it ends with I Kissed a Girl..reminder of how much music sucks today :(
It was an alright vid but I think you should've gone all the way back to the 30's & 40's with dean Martin and the king of vocalism FRANK SINATRA. But that's just me. Did anyone else find themselves singing along with the first half of the vid?
did anyone notice how he missed a shit load throughout the whole vid. no chuckberry, no doors, no greatfull dead, no prog rock. where the hell is dark side of the moon. and you got the shittiest bands within alternative rock
no offence, but your taste of music after 93' is pretty bad. the rest of the vid in the beginging is great but it's ALL just boy bands after 93' (put some rock, metel stuff like that in your vid next time.)
Way Cool! Nice you spent so much time and thought! Well Done! Can you do one with Muddy Waters and perhaps a NOD? to Helter Skelter? I soo get this though ! Thanks how fun! :)
@patchworkfuckface IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT NOW...THAT I HAD TO LOL SUPER LOUD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! BUT... I WAS ONLY TRYING TO CUT TO THE CHASE YOU KNOW?? SERIOUSLY~
HOWEVER I DID FAIL MENTION SIR HAIL R&R THOUGH! OMG! SORRY 4THAT1CHUCK! MY BAD THX PWF ;) :-D HUGSU
You've totally overlooked the grunge era. There's no reason for there to be a Bon Jovi song in the '93 slot. Billy Ray Cyrus is the biggest slap in the face.
After looking at your profile, it makes sense why you have Hedley, Simple Plan and Bryan Adams on your list now. Canadian pride, BlinkPink25! *hi-five!* Nice taste in music, btw.
For an evolution of music collection, it mainly focuses on mainstream rock, which represents a fragment of out musical history. Dont get me wrong; I LOVE classic rock. But I think the origins of hip hop should've been acknowledged. Same goes for punk, ska, prog, avant garde. And this video started with Elvis. Elvis played rock and roll, a genre whose origins were delta blues. Swing, blues, jazz and ragtime were not mentioned. Beh.

@jewism Meh, I'm sure this person knew about these bands. Sometimes there's too many to fit in there but I agree those bands are hella better Hedley but some of you may disagree.
where are trance and house ? Looks like vid was made by an emo kid, bcos now those emo songs aint most popular, now metal & electronic music are most popular.
Kewl. I know it's hard to fit all the different music that was going on throughout all those years ;) Just can't believe there was NOTHING from the grunge era which was so vital in the anihilation of the 80s glamrock goin on. Also, no Zeppelin? lol. I know, I know...it's not your style ;)
Great vid, I'm sure it took a while to put together!
@Musicaddict27 You people who said this kind of thing don't know nothing if you think that what is it o tv or radio it matters. Are you kidding? Aerosmith, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sugar Ray, Blink 182, American Hifi, Simple Plan, Plain White T's and Boys Like Girls are all great musicians! The new stuff is just as good as the old stuff!
Damn, you can CLEARLY see how love we've gotten in terms of music in just a few short decades. Its debatable, but I think right around the turn of the 90's is when we began The Great Decline. Look at the shit that passes for music nowadays...
