I don't know much about the trance scene... but i guess its normally DJs in a club?

I was just wondering what advantages would you say you have doing it as a live performance?

Im considering doing some live stuff using my guitar, guitar loop pedal and laptop (with drum samples and synths and vocal samples) and doing some weird jazz hiphoppy stuff... But I don't know how it would go down in a standard gig environment!

my main concern here is, HOW live is Live? stability has always been an issue with computers, mainly because of apple or microsoft. I'm sure Ableton is stable, but using multiple third party VST's has crashed many times. I personally favor the Rob Papen Blue VST, and Kontakt for sampling, but I'm leaning towards a Juno-G these days for the live stuff.

but wait, how do you change between songs? you layer every single bass, kick, synthlines, hats, etc from every song you're playing at the party to the mixer?

isnt that like.. a heckload of samples???

i just let my song play from a pre-made mix, and then i mess around with the synths and everything live.
