  • Always liked this classic one!

Buddy Rich did this as a vocal (by him - good singing voice) about the same time in the late 40s. Gonna look for it now. After I play this again.

  • What a wicked track, brilliant.

  • Every time that sax comes in I always think it's a singer.

  • Never take this off. It's history. Thanks

  • Man, I sang this song when I was High School 9th or 10th Grade...Duke is the man..and Ella is the Lady, now that my friends "is a pippin' " ;)

  • I'm 17 too, and also love this kinda music. I appreciate it. I wouldn't listen to only jazz and blues, but contemporary stuff. I love Justin Vernon, and anyone who would like to see some contemporary indie-blues I'd advise Justin Vernon or Bon Iver. He has some wonderful side projects, one of which is Bon Iver.

  • the one with Louis Armstrong is my favourite

  • hey! i'm 17 and I love this kind of music. You just need to give youth a bit more time to discover different music and songs!

  • Ellington, Johnny Hodges at their finest. Al Hibbler is perfect on the vocal, and the trombone finishes it off. Each sound is integrated by Ellington with the orchestra into one voice. And they say it all in the short time available to fill a 78 rpm record.

Doncha feel good listening to this? I do!

In Tony Bennett's version, he mentions this classic performance.

Too bad today's youth doesn't hear more music like this, which is fast being lost!

  • it is a shame that my generation doesn't listen to this music. i never really did, but one day, i listened to duke and i fell in love with jazz. this is the music that stops wars, rebuilds hearts, and brings people together. i wish more 17 year olds like me realize this.

  • @MrBosnian78 haha Plamenko!...but I feel you on that one! People always say that you have to be mature to listen to jazz, and that is pretty true.

  • @mahboy08 Unless you're Dylan* lol
