  • What are politician constantly harping on about - that we should take regular exercise and the importance of forging links in our communities - owning a dog not only makes you take regular exercise, outdoors in the fresh air, but it gets people talking to each other and when those people see each other day after day it forms friendships, as they have common ground.

There is one subject at the top of the agenda for discussion at the moment, how those people despise this petty interfering council

  • I don't have a dog at the moment but but when I have had them in the past I have always been a responsible owner and cleared up after them. But the responsible owner is treated as a pariah for merely owning a dog. We know there is virtually no chance of being caught if we don't clear up, as the dog wardens are a joke, so why should we bother? We get treated as lepers whether we clean up or not. So where is the incentive to do so?

  • It an absolute disgrace that isle of Wight council dismissed the wishes of the people of Ryde and the Ryde Town council to introduce a dog ban for no other reason than to win a pointless expensive award.

Tell me this, when we have a local election the turnout is a pathetic 20%-30%, I can see from the way the peoples opinions were dismissed in this sham of a consultation which was pre determined, that the turnout at the next election will be even lower. So what is the point in voting?

  • And what is the point in taking part in any further consultations for us the members of the community? The community we are always being informed is so important. The community that is ignored with insulting contempt.

The whole point of having local councils is for decisions to be taken at a local level to fit the situation of the local area.

  • In this situation we have a bunch of self serving bureaucrats making a one size fits all ruling for every beach in the country, and our council just accepting that, against our wishes, in order that they can apply for a voluntary award that we probably would only qualify for in one year out of four. due to the Solent be polluted with sewage...Democracy? Its a disgrace.
