This and "The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past" were my favorite games! This game was cake compared to Zelda (that game was freaking hard)! I beat this game at least once, and I still love it. Also... the music rocks; especially the first level!

I remember getting this game back in 1995 because I was sick and couldnt go to school so my mom actually took pity on me because I wasnt allowed out of bed for 2 weeks. This, Fatal Fury Special, Super Metroid (after getting that one I wouldve stayed home anyway regardless of being sick or not. It's freakin' Metroid!!) and Top Gear 2. My friends hated me.

Was excited because I watched the cartoon. Wasnt the greatest game but had fun with it, until it got tossed aside for Super Metroid.

It took me a while to figure out exactly how to beat Dr. Octopus. I remember I kept shooting webs at him but they weren't causing damage. So I thought I'd hit him while he was blinded but he kept flipping out.

Hold R to run. I think to grab a climbable surface, you have to hold the direction you're grabbing and press L once you're on the surface. Or maybe it's R.

I remember when this came out, it got very positive reviews at the time. I skipped it because I got my Spider-Man fix with Maximum Carnage a couple years earlier. This game looks very different but there's one thing about it that bugs me, off screen projectiles. I hated this back then and still do in 2D games. I always thought it was cheap for an offscreen enemy to fire his weapon at you leaving you pretty much helpless. I like that it's a platformer but it could have had some combos too.

You're right, that aspect of the game is incredibly cheap. It gets pretty bad at later levels in the game, where enemies that shoot you are more common.

Good question. I actually own both games. While I enjoy this game, I'd have to go with Maximum Carnage; it has better production value and gameplay, although the game gets extremely difficult towards the end (I've only been able to beat it with a Game Genie, lol). Maximum Carnage would've been great with co-op.

I've never played that other Spider-Man game. I think it's called Separation Anxiety?

Yes it was called Separation Anxiety. It came out the same year as this game I believe but was met with mediocre reviews. I never picked it up, the graphics looked downgraded and the action was said to be more of the same. I didn't see the need to pay to essentialy replay the game I already owned and was still playing. I actually considered getting this Spider-man for a different experience but got DKC instead. Good communication octane, you got yourself a new subscriber.

LJN actually never developed games, they only published them.

However, they never disclosed the developer for their games (see the LJN wiki page). This one, however, DOES have the developer listed (Western Technologies, Inc.), but they seem to have disappeared, as they haven't developed a title since the mid-90's.
