  • I miss my memphis wrestling so bad you just dont know I went every momday night and was there every sat moring back then that was just about the only thing that famelyes and friends could go to and it did not cost them much for and evening out love ya Karen

  • can't beleive this didn't turn into an angle

  • A mellow Cornette.lol.

  • Typical dollar general retirement party

  • steve keirn looks like he dont have a neck, lol.

  • Loved those porn music segues almost all of the promotions used back then! And now, a word from our sponsor, John Holmes (insert snickering, sarcastic LOL here!)!

  • It's so funny...They used Ric Flair's music to start the show lol

  • @mrhollister09

Would Flair have even been using it in '81?

  • @mrhollister09 That was Memphis Wrestlings Intro long before Ric Flair ever used it.

  • @introfiant72 Yup - Memphis started using it in 3/77 and Flair didn't use it until Starrcade 83.

  • Looked like Fargo was drunk off his ass..... But That's the way it was... Thanks for the video

  • It really is odd to see a ceremony like this go all the way through without anyone attacking the person being honored. It's like the whole joke about how you can't have a cake in wrestling without someone getting it in the face. As a long time pro wrestling fan you come to expect all fan gifts, awards, trophies, etc. to get destroyed by a heel.

  • @nwajoe Or a contract signing televised, without the heel putting the face's forehead into a table.

  • Well for all knocking Jimmy Cornette on being laid back...he is playing his role. He took photos for the mags before he became a manager.

  • This has GOT to be the most laid back Cornette has ever been in a wrestling role.

  • Thanks!!

  • Thanks for posting -- but Cornette was a disappointment.

No wisecracks, no smart remarks, no yellow sportcoat, green tie and bright red shirt.

I was waiting for Fargo to turn his back so Cornette could smash that plaque on his head...LOL

  • this was the real Cornette he is smart well educated and played the part of the mammas boy so well Cornette is damn good to the wrestling business He was a great heal and really mastred the bussiness

  • Thanks, great post.

  • I kept waiting for someone to jump Fargo like they did with Lawler's Mexican wrestler of the year award.

  • This is great. Thanks Guerin.

  • I thought he was a photographer.

  • He was. He also was a newsletter/fanzine editor.

  • He did a newsletter/magazine of sorts for the Memphis territory. That's how he got into managing.

  • WOW I Didn't Know Cornette was an magazine editor
