  • nice shoes

  • Also, I love the video :) Great tutorial! As I am attempting to also build a new stand, an above tank basking platform, and possibly a new tank for my RES as he is getting way too big for a 10 gallon tank :(.

  • Hmmm.. I remember from a few of my videos my original audio was deleted as well when audio swap first came out. But it was also copyrighted. Somehow it managed to be fixed though. :S It wasn't my voice like yours. Did you try going into the video editor under your user name at the top > my videos > video editor > selecting your video and at the bottom where the audio is (may be under the audio tab) and sliding the bar thing over to use original audio? That may work.. :S

  • where did u get the gravel

  • did you have any issues with the plexiglass melting? thanks for the vid.

  • man, you are HOT!

  • how much did the tank cost u

  • pattasy-

I have 3 turtles and the clean up is becoming way to much , we're cleaning the tank at least every week. How much did it cut down the cleaning to? and what do you use to clean the tank, other than the filter?

  • Good set up. I would have built the stand / canopy so that it covered up the brown trim of the tank though. Still looks good!

  • Lame! Why would Youtube do that? Did you have music in the background? Fuck youtube!

  • cool

  • Awesome.

  • The turtle tank is beautiful!! Great job!

  • Call splinter he can help ur turtle

  • um just letting you know that its bad for the filter to suck up air so becareful of the in tanke tube near the bubles

  • Got a 200 gallon kid pool in my backyard

  • Lol 30 res turtles! Where do they go?

  • I really like ur tank it's so awesome, did u catch those turtles or did u buy them? I have all snapping turtles 3 babys, 1 big one. I have had about 30 res in all, I catch them at this pond near my house every summer, there's a few thousand in there. Some my the res I've caught had real different designs, I had a all black res shell and body with really red ears, and all brown design on an other one. Well perfect looking tank, btw your so cute looking holla.

  • hey pattasy have to say you gave me inspiration when getting my out of water basking area made and i thank you for that but think im gonna have to be making a few adjustmants just to adapt to the are i have to work with. have a look at my vids and let me know what you think.

  • what kind of plants do you have inside? because my turtles eat them all the time :/

  • @ItzOnur my plants are all plastic aquarium plants. mine don't eat them :)

  • @pattasy im just worried that they get poisoned by them

  • Your setup is amazing and so so pretty, my two yellow bellied sliders are only still young but was wondering how often you change the water with this size tank and with powerful filters such the fluval external ones? I will be upgrading my tank within the next few months and your video has gave me so many ideas thankyou =)

  • what did you use to tie the too logs together to make the one float and where did you get it?

  • @photogrl001 the basking dock is the floating one that i got it the petstore but i cut off part of it so it rests in the grooves of the top of the tank. It already had holes in it and it doesn't move. the ramp does move and its just a piece of raw corkbark i got on ebay. the are attached together with wire coated rubber from the hardware store.

  • can you show us the inside of your basking lid once on the tank

  • Hey guys please check out my res setup i need views :( thanxs

  • Creds <3

  • nice but i think the turtles will outgrow it quite fast

  • hey I noticed it's been 2 years now. I was wondering has your setup been enough for your turtles or did you have to upgrade? I just got a red ear slider and I'm trying to plan for Gordon's future. I notice that within a year they can become half a foot or less. So I'm assuming my 20 gallon tank won't cut it which I know. But how are you doing now that it's been 2 years pass?

  • @rollen01 well the male turtle i babysat for almost a year before giving it back to the owner. The big female is mine. I upgraded the older filter, but not the 75 gallon tank. she's about. .uh..dang i don't know 5-6 years? I stopped using the undergravel filter and replaced it with a light layer of rock & have minimal plants so she has more room. All is still fine. yep, you'll need a bigger tank.

  • Your tank is so pretty! I wish i could put fake plants and the like in my tank. As soon as i do, Dana rips them out of the rocks. He is a naughty turtle.

  • Wow that some major turtle action going on. How much did all of that cost?

  • Your mom kicks ass!!

  • ahh you have a boy and a girl? how old and big are they in inches? I like your tank. Check out mine and let me know what you think. I have 2 YBS but don't know their sex yet!

  • have to say im really impressed with the set up you have on the tank and big up to your mam and fiance helping you out. i have 3 yellow bellied sliders and i like the tank the way it is but i know im gonna have to get bigger tanks as they grow older and i love the new top of tank basking area you have. well done, sure if you get a chance have a look at my guys and the tank and let me know what you think. cheers.

  • very impressive tank, good carpentry there, was the tank itself bought or was it made?

  • Beautiful!

  • why did they delete your audio

  • nice setup one question where did u get or buy the rocks?

  • @CPdaniel1357 i bought my rocks from the garden section of walmart. real cheap, about $7 for all of it. BUT you have to rinse them really well and boil them if you want them sanitized. Alot of work, but it saves money.

  • @pattasy Thank you very much :)). Very informational video :)).

  • That was pretty cool to watch :) gave me a few ideas.

  • very nice

  • thanks for your videos yourmom did a get job with what she built i have watched your videos a lot i just aquired 4 red eared sliders and am building them a home wish my mom was as handy as yours

  • for starters ...WOW that is an amazing tank, beautiful, you did a great job

  • I'm sorry, couldn't you just use sand instead of gtavel? It's really a lot simpler to clean, and almost as good looking..

  • @MarcuSS85 They say to use larger gravel because turtles have a tendacy to eat small gravel and sand.

  • Yes, and since there isn't a gravel large enough not to be eaten when the are near adulthood, it is advisable to use sand, too small to block their digestive system in case of ingestion.

  • @MarcuSS85 Hmm. Ive heard never to use sand. maybe that's just with smaller turtles.

  • your turtles love you :)

  • i would suscribe if there was voice .... but on the other hand i may aswell so i have suscribed,by the wayi like the turtle dock u made

  • Excellent video and the music well not too bad, haha

FYI Turtles need 10gal of tank per inch diameter, So just get ready to expand your system soon. My RS is over 11" dia and should be in a 110 gal tank. But for now I have her in a 75 wide. PS ur mom is awesome and very handy ;) peace

  • It's not the diameter, it's the shell length

  • Your little guys (or girls) must be extremely happy!!!

  • wow your tank is so clear my one turns dirty real fast .. how do you keep it so clear

  • i use 2 fluval canister filters on either side of the tank. turtles need BIG, powerful filters to keep their water clear.

  • yea i use fluval too i think its the lighting and ive adjusted that :D

  • wow i was surprised when i see your pretty face i think im inlove with you already...i have two little turtles i think they are 2 inches long from head to tail and i keep them in a 10 gallon aquarium although i havent bought them a filter so i clean it up everyday and it is really exhausting...

  • Nice canopy. You've inspired me to make canopies for all my many aquariums.

  • Nice setup, Your turtles look healthy and happy . 5 stars to bad youtube did in with your audio

  • do u know how much the filters were? im getting a new filter cuz mine sucks.

  • fluval canister filters run anywhere between $80-$200. I got lucky the newer one on the right for about $60 on ebay because it was discountinued. They got newer models out and i've upgraded my old one (on the left) with a 405. I bought it new for $164 on ebay. It works like a dream! the water stays so clear, it looks like air. :)

  • sorry about the typos in there, its 2am in the morning, lol!

  • lol thank u! :)

  • awesome

  • your mom is great

  • how much gallon?

  • 75 or 79 gallons i think

  • go to hell youtube...leave her vids alone

  • fuck that girl at the begginin is sooooo hot!!

  • This is by far one of the best turtle tanks I have seen. I love how it is so sturdy.

  • Did you remove the cross braces from the stand to finish to in the wood filling up the holes?

  • yes the braces were removed :)

  • Nice vid and tank setup, overall it came out looking great! Your vid gave me some nice ideas for when I start building some of my tanks in a couple of weeks... Again, great job on your enclosure! : )

  • i was thinking in building a (8'x3'.2') tank for my AHT's but cant find out what glass/acrylic i should use? and where to get it(i live in England btw)

  • OMG!!! This is amazing! I have small (but a full equipment ) aquarium, with one turtle.. :) But, when she became bigger, i will make something like this! Thanks, this is awesome! You were hardworking! :)

  • nice vid i might make a lid like that

  • The lid is very original, I am in the process of putting together my own unique 50gal deep tank (not tall) & might duplicate your lid to maximize water space. The filtration system I will be using removes water via a 350gph 3/4" water pump via under gravel filtration, w/ 0 back pressure into 2 culligan canister filters (sediment & carbon), returning to the tank on custom bio-wheels. This set-up biologically and artificially filters all the water in the tank every 8.5 minutes w/o a strong current.

  • TURTLE PARADISE!!!!! I soo wish i was one of your turtles.

  • amazing set up!! wish i could provide that for my slider! thanks for sharing!

  • wow your mom has talent!

  • live plants would look better and with low-tech plants they would do great with your setup now maybe a little fluorite dosing every once in awhile

  • That's one of the nicest set ups I've seen in a long time. I personally wouldn't use the rocks because my turtles like to eat everything that goes into the tank so I have to go barebottom. If you need to upgrade the basking area try cutting out some of that flourescent lighting panel. They work great but I don't know if you'd like how it looks.

  • thank you :)

  • The reason your undergravel filter isnt sucking up everything is because you have to high a layer of rocks. Take some of it out (but still covering the filter) and you'll see it will work a lot better.

  • you are absolutely right about that :) I've changed my tank several times since then and used less rock and it does work a bit better. however, they clog so fast so i might be hooking up a canister filter directly to the undergravel tubes. ;)

  • You are the professonal aquarium maker!I think i have no ideai how to DIY the big tank for my red eared slider....

  • =) my turtles are jealous of your turtles setup! Im going to get started on making something similar to your basking area since the two smaller guys are getting bigger and by the time I finish I'm sure they will be able to go in with Ishmael my bigger guy. How long did it take for you to put this all together?

  • i need to upgrade my basking area too, they seem to grow so fast. X)

the setup didn't take too long. my mom works fast. it took her a few hours to build the stand while i was at work. We built the lid together the next day. After we got it in my apartment, i spent a few hours on the setup. So i guess i would say, 3 days. :)

  • you are really smart you now i have 3 turtles and you help me for DOCK and all things i look of your videos

  • Hi, recently i helped my daughter build a bigger home for (chester) her turtle. He is not using it. We took pics, how do we send them to you, we would like your ideas on any changes we can or should make.

  • sure, i'll pm you so i don't reveal my email to the world. ;)

  • thts beast

  • ty :)

I'd go with the fluval 305 or larger. With turtles you should always get something bigger than what you would typically need because they are soooo messy. the 305 is recommended for up to 70 gallons. I would have went bigger with my 75 gallon tank but i already had one filter so i decided to just buy the minimum and add a second.

  • hey pat... im going to buy a 40 or 50 gal tank for my turtle.. and have no idea what kind of fluval filter i should get.. can you give me some advice? lol... thanks... btw. your hot '='

  • if you havnt already bought your canister filter i recommend you scratch the fluval idea and you buy a "Wet/Dry Trickle Filter"

its the best filter for any setup!plus maintnence on the filter is a brezze unlike a canister filter.

  • i like how you have seductive music for turtles :D haha nice tank and turtles! im getting some soon

  • how many gallons is it?

  • this one is 75gallons :)

  • hay babe... what camera did you use for this?

    the colors are excellent!!

  • ha! you are the 1st to actually notice! or at least tell me about it. I go through alot of effort to make my stuff as bright & vivid as possible, so i thank you :) the design of the camera is meant for more picture taking than anything. its a casio exilim ex-z750. i mess with the white balance alot and use a 3 spotlight floor lamp to shoot indoors. the cam is very small only about 3.5" long and a little over 2" tall. :)

  • hey thx you've been a big help!!

  • where do you feed them?

  • i feed them directly in the tank. I want to try using a feeding dish on the basking platform, but my male is so damn scared of everything. :D

  • hey what kind of power head are those??

  • penguin 1140 made by marineland

  • thx...one other question...are those powerheads loud at all?

  • they have that usual hum like an air filter. But if you got them adjusted to full blast they make some noise. and when they get clogged they sputter and make even more noise. The current is adjustable, the higher the current, the louder the noise. It's not totally annoying if you don't mind hearing rushing water.

  • yea the noises in the house will prob. drown out the sound anyway..those power heads dont need additional media like carbon or sponge pads do they?

  • nope, just plug them in. :)

  • dam your mum is very talented!

  • i love the canopy i wish i had 1 ur videos are very inspireing 5/5 :)

  • Hi Pattasy! I think you and your mom fucking rock!!! Thank you for making this video, it's very helpful and inspiring, and yes it shows us that there's people out there who care for animals. We live in NYC and wish we had a fish tank as cool as yours, but we're getting there... Ps go to centro de las tortugas in Mazunte, Oaxaca, Mexico - you're gonna love it!!! Peace & Love

  • thank you :) I wish i could go to mexico lol!

  • what do you feed your turtle? is it safe to just feed them reptomin as a staple food? :[ im really really worried about pyramiding T__T

ps - thank you. and i really love your tank its absolutely beautiful! your turtle is really lucky

  • i feed them mostly reptile pellets (they don't seem to care to eat anything else) but i also give them feeder fish and boston lettuce. And mabe some dried shrimp. they like the fish alot :)

  • i agree you should NOT git rid of the gravel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it would look SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent video.

Vacuuming is important for an undergravel filter to prevent 'channeling'. Water needs to flow through the gravel freely to facilitate biological filtration. Debris will slowly clog the filter making it less efficient. So DO vacuum each time you do your partial water changes. If your ammonia and nitrites are zero, you should be fine. Pets, especially aquatic turtles, are never maintenance free.

Don't sacrifice your gravel, turtles love the stuff.

  • thank you very much!

finally! someone who totally agrees with me about keeping the gravel. I've had so many people nag me about getting rid of the gravel but it just looks so "hospital-ish" and cold without it. ;) ty!

  • While I enjoy all your videos I have to strongly disagree with the use of undergravel filters. We all know that turtles are messy but that aside all the under gravel filters in your setup are going to do is trap the debris that your filters miss. So effectively all that gunk that gets trapped down in the rocks / filter plates is gonna sit there and nastify. Now if you have good water levels then great but eventually all that trapped waste is going to come back and bite ya.

  • this was experimental. it actually worked for a good long while, but the big peices of crap still ended up getting stuck everwhere, so i still had to vacuum. :( right now i have the plates with a light layer of large rocks. it catches the little stuff and i vacuum the big stuff. >.> need to find a better way without sacrificing my gravel. . . . .

  • I have a question.

Do you use tap water? Or do you use De-Chlorinated?

  • tap water, but i put the 'reptile safe' chemicals in it.

  • Does it need that?

I don't have a turtle yet i'm just trying to get some things straight i have heard its fine for them to be in tap water...Not sure though.

  • do you have any problems with evaporation in your tank, it seems like i have to fill mine back up every 3-4 days because it will drop about an inch to a inch and a half.

  • absolutely! I lose around 3 gallons every 2 days. The heat of the house, aquarium heater and basking light will do that. :) its annoying, but its normal for all tanks.

  • u r so hot.

  • why is youtube removing audio from all ur vids...

  • crap i didn't know the audio was removed from this one too. >:O I used background music by Queen and gave all the credits but they still remove it due to copyrights. grrrrr. It's free advertising for them, its not like i'm making any money. :(

  • youtube is becoming really bad about this copyright stuff

  • 75 gallon ?

  • yes it is :)

  • Comment removed

  • i wanna buy a really big one (125g+) =]

butumm..it really bugs the hell out of me that theres that little lip where the plastic dips down on the bottom inside brim of any tank, if u even know what im talking about, and its bare underneath of any stand so you can look up from underneath the glass, whereas if it were just the glass on a flat surface -the stand, thered be no way for the glass to bend and crack.

i just really dont trust all that weight on glass and want a little reassurance.

  • I know what you mean, it does look a bit scary, but i think all tanks are like that. If i open my cabinets and look underneath i can see the whole bottom of the tank just floating there. Its weird, but i never heard or had an incident where the bottom cracked. Seems safe because of the weight being distributed evenly. Mine came with a wide piece of plastic running down the middle, so its not completley bare. But yeah, I'm sure they wouldn't sell a 125g that's made to bust. :)

  • maybe!! not to bust but with the amt of stacking id be doing- haha whatever im taking your word for it.

butttt.. you're very into building unique items, you should youtube bottomless fish tank if you dont already know what it is or have seen it on here before..it looks like a big, big challenge with the top pressure needing to be set up with a vacuum pump to pull the bubbles out from the upper glass. i started out looking for answers on weight dist but now want to contact a glass cutter lol

  • yes i've seen them....i stared at it for a good long while trying to figure out how it works. I like building things but thats too much of a challenge, i'd end up with water all over the place XD. Hey if u figure it out and build one, post a vid. It looks freakin neat as hell! :D

  • how u made it pls message me back ..!

  • what do you mean? i showed everything.

  • ♥♥♥♥♥love it♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ better than those fish bowl set up u see these days

  • nice setup 100000 percent better than those crappy death bowl 2 gallon dollar shop solutions

  • What! they still sell those things!

  • Sweet Setup!

  • I really like how you put the plants in! My turtle always tears them up and kicks anything else all over my tank, thanks for the idea :)

  • i love it! i should have bask like this one for my Jeo the red ear slider turtle ,, she have trouble with bumping and wobbing bask T_T my jeo needs like something that stays and keeps her relax under heat light ^___^ i loves to see your more video!!! :"D

  • THATS A BAD ASS SET UP. NICE.

  • i have my turtle in a 115 G 6 ft long tank haha she loves it! iv only had her for about a year and a half. shes 20 years old i got her from my moms friends kid she had a hard growing up for 18 years she lived in a 10G tank with no filter or heat lamp. shes lovin life now! =) i use to work at a fish store so shes got the best of every thing. u have a really sweet set up for ur turtles thay must be happy!

  • oh my i missed this comment. 20years old and a SHE?! Must be huge! no video?

  • Comment removed

  • ohh its ok haha,

shes about 8-10 inch shes sweet all get a vid up soon!

i only have a vid of my reef tank up right now chake it out!

  • i did, it looks awesome! i gave u 5stars :)

  • ur awesome thanks!

  • how did you make it? i plan on making one soon

  • buy somemore rock hahah

  • AWESOME!!

  • How hard is it to clean a tank like that? and how often do you have to clean it?

  • actually i set it up in november and i haven't had to clean anything yet! the undergravel filter is working wonderfully. the rocks are super clean and the water is still crystal clear. so far so good, the whole setup is working very well.

  • ohh, nice i am trying to decide wether to get a water turtle or a box turtle, or a small tortoise. but thanks for the help.

  • Great tank setup I am building a tank for my turtles and i used some of your ideas on it . Thanx .

  • great! post some vids, i'd love to see :)

  • Sure thing Ill put them online as soon as it,s finished

  • Do your turtles eat the rocks? I herd they do.I don't have rocks in my tank. ( or sand!)

    ~Missy♥

  • only if the rocks are small, but with the white "fence" on the bottom weighted with larger rocks, they can't get to the smaller rocks below. I never liked bare bottom tanks (looks too hospital-ish) so i set it up this way, so they feel more at home. :D

  • i forgot

    5 stars

    ;)

  • omg sweet set up

    just 1 suggestion

    move plants to 1 area

    and the rest for swimming

the plants give them a place to hide

    but other than that

    love it

    ;)

  • thank you! I actually never bothered to move the plants too much. They tag team and rearrange the tank themselves. XD So everything ends up in one corner. :)

    Glad you like it :)

  • really??

    they seriously move them around?

    thats awsome

  • yep. she's incredibly strong and can move just about anything in there. Especially rocks, she loves digging. :)

  • LOL i wish my turtles did that =( it must be funny

  • Awesome tank.

Wish I had room for one that big =(

  • pretty sick setup. nice video too, well made.

if u want less or easier maintenence try bare bottom tank. i've got a bare bottom tank, works great.
