waititititt when i downloaded the korean firmwire thing i put it in my services folder and when i put the files in it didnt do anything when i disconnected my p2 and tuned it on nothing
Hmmm you want to put the firmware files on your P2 in the "Internal Storage" Folder or the "Data" Folder, which ever one you have. They more or less go in the main P2 folder, where all the other folders are. It should look the same as mine around 3:24 in the video. Put them there, restart your P2 and resume the process.
umm all the korean firmware files worked except 5.10...it said the file is unavailable!!!!is there any other place i can get it?!?!?! or if you could fix that on the site????
You should have no problems going to the Korean version from the BestBuy version. However I have never attempted to revert BACK to the BestBuy firmware. You can however go back to the regular US firmware. I'm sure you could go back to the BestBuy firmware if you can find it online. I don't anticipate any issues but it is of course... your risk =)
You need to download the dictionary program off my mediafire site. The link to the dictionary is in this videos description. If you want the lite dictionary go to my site and download it. You just extract the files into a folder called "Dictionary" on the P2. The video should give some insight to where that folder goes.
if i change to the korean software, will i still have all of the games, password lock ability, and other things that came with the us version also? or will that be lost?
Sometimes people loose the games when they do the change over. However you can re-add them by downloading the games pack off my mediafire site (video description has link) and extracting them into the correct folder on the P2. It's easy and not hard to fix.
Sorry for the delay. The full dictionary is exactly the same setup as the lite dictionary. The only difference is that the full dictionary takes up more space and has pronounciation features.
hmmm.. The config file specifies the change of region (engligh to Korean) and as well as the change from MTP to UMS mode. You could probably get away without it for the mode change but if you want it to change to Korean for the added features then the config file is required. Not adding it will simply keep you at the regular english/american firmware that you started with. If you open the config file in notepad you can see the changes. Let me know if you have any questions.
Say you change it to korean ums version could you still use emodio to put music and videos instead of dragging and dropping? Also what is the percentage that doing this won't brick your p2 in your opinion? If you could answer thanks !
Yes... the only major difference in UMS is the file folder layout and the compatibility with Windows Media Player. If you use emodio normally then you wouldn't notice a change at all. I have had hundreds of messages telling me that this process has worked for them using my instructions/files and only 2-3 saying they have had issues... none of which were "bricking". At worst you may need to reinstall the US firmware if something goes wrong. Which I could help with if needed.
i downloaded ANY VIDEO CONVERTER, and also YOUTUBE DOWNLOADER and then i just downloaded the videos off of youtube and used EmoDio to put them on my device
Sorry I guess I should have been more specific regarding the drag and drop. As for movies they need to be in either SVI or WMV format. So you can download anyvideoconverter (free) and convert to WMV or you can use Emodio to convert to SVI like you said. You CAN drag and drop SVIs and/or WMV files but they do need to be in that format to be supported.
It will give the P2 the ability to display the Lyrics of MP3s that have them. If you have MP3s that have embedded lyrics then it will display the lyrics if you switch to the Korean Firmware and enable the Lyrics Display option. Check out my "How to add Lyrics" video as it gives some more info on Mp3s with lyrics. It also shows what it looks like a little better. Let me know if you end up having any questions or troubles with it.
Yep... even without converting to the Korean Firmware you can just drag and drop. Its just like using a USB data stick. You can use other programs too.. but sometimes you just want to drag, drop and run.
I think that's what happened, maybe. Now all the files don't say Korean, but the 5.10KR one. But that unspecified was still a little bit weird; only one that said that. Everything worked til the Korean 5.10. And even with 1.15 and 1.20 it didn't say Korean firmware when I turned mine on, still said U.S.
hmm.. I don't beleive it has to say "Korean" on firmwares 1.15 and 1.20. The important part is that when you upgrade to 1.20 you are copying the config.ini file to the P2 with the 1.20 firmware file. If the config file is missing it won't upgrade properly but it will look as if it did. Then when you upgrade to 5.10 it will not work right. If you try again and it still doesn't work.. try again going to Korean 5.08. It is essentially the same. Sorry for the troubles your having.
Ah, that's what I did. I didn't put the config into it, just the other 2 because I didn't want mine in UMS. Oh well, I guess drag+drop isn't too bad. Sorry for spamming your page :/
I'm not sure which files you say are unavailable. If you arn't interested in the UMS mode you can edit the config.ini file to keep it as MTP. Just change the letters "UMS" in the file to MTP. It is pretty easy. Edit it, save it, copy it over instead of the one I provided. You would need to drop back to 1.15 and then go to 1.20 with the edited config.ini though.
I tried doing that (editing the file to MTP), and everything worked fine until I went to 5.10. Now nothing on my player works. Any advice you can give me?
something must have went wrong during the upgrade. If you can still access the files when the P2 is plugged into your computer then I would recommend starting from scratch with the downgrade and upgrade process. Be sure to download all the files from my mediafire site so you don't get a corrupted or hacked version. Let me know how it goes, feel free to PM me.
hey ian i have a question, everytime i download a UCI from you're website and i drag and drop to my p2 but every time it says "dose not support format" What is happening and how do i get UCI 's to my p2?
hey i havnt put it on my p2 yet, but after reading the comments i found that it may not work with wmp anymore, what programs can i sync with that will work?? thnx
Well the UMS mode will work with WMP but from what I hear the issue is related to copying playlists from WMP to the P2. Honestly though I don't use WMP so I don't know much about the issues. I know Emodio, Winamp and Media Monkey work well. Typically I don't use a syncing program I just copy the songs directly from the folder onto the P2.
no worries it ended up workin anyway lol, by the way i was lookin on ur site and i saw the menu thems and stuff but could you maybe show what they look like and how to install em to the p2, ud be doin me a massive favour :Dthnx
I knew there was somethign wrong, when i opened up Kr 5.10 it said modified and a date.. Great, something is wrong with my P2 now.. Thanks man, I owe you one..
So you plug your P2 into your computer and when you go to the My Computer window the P2 doesn't show up? What does your P2 do when you plug it in? Does your P2 turn on at all? Sorry for the slow replies... I have limited access to email. If I am too slow try the P2 forum at anythingbutipod dootcoom.
Hey Ian, I was watching this video, and i'm trying to change to the korean firmare from the us. I was reading the comments, and there is a problem with your video, it freezes and jams up the internet explorer. I turned the annonations on like you posted. but that still didn't work. any other ideas on fixing this? or is there another site I can access this video? or can you send me the steps? thanks. (:. oh, and does the FULL dictionary have all languages, or just the prenountiation?
Their is no difference from the selection of words from the lite to the full dictionary. The Full dictionary has the option to pronounce the words while the lite version does not. Yeah it does seem my video tends to do that for some people. I have limited access to internet and no personal PC where I am. I would recommend accessing the walkthrough at anythingbutipod dotcoom and use my video as a reference. Sorry for the lack of help.
Okay, so I was able to finish all the steps, but when I try transferring the lite dictionary file to my P2, there is no dictionary file to put the FONTS and DB on? need help on that please :).
I am currently in school out of province and only have access to the school computers. They don't allow downloading and access to a wide range of websites. I use my P2 regularly here but don't have access to my personal PC or music library. When I am at home I can check things and try things to provide more accurate results but here I can only look at the P2 and remember what options are available on all the programs we use.
Just some other info: I did click on korean, downloaded all the Korean ones. When I first got it it said the newest one for U.S was 5.08, but after I screwed up my P2 with the korean stuff, lol.. It was supposed to change to KR 5.10, right? Well now even after formatting I have U.S 5.10, I thought the highest was 5.08. ( wow I'm annoying but I'm kind of mad/curious at the moment.)
Well you do want to finish the upgrade process to Korean 5.10. To do that you have to continue to copy the files I provided onto the P2 via "My Computer" like you did for the other firmware versions. Once you've done that your computer will recognize the P2 as a Mass Storage Drive but still be fully compatible with Emodio for loading of Mp3's and Movies and such.
Hmm.. I'm not really sure why your video/internet would freeze. My best guess is that your IE isn't processing the annotations properly. If you don't think thats it then I'm not sure. If you think I could be right you can turn annotations off by clicking the "up arrow" to the right of the volume control ON the video. Then click the red page icon and it should disable them.. maybe allowing you to watch the whole thing.
Dictionary and Lyrics support. Their is a mode while playing music that allows you to view the lyrics of the song and have it so that it highlights the word that is being sung at the moment. Most of that setup is manual and time consuming but the Korean firmware does allow it. Check my other videos for the lyrics instructions.
i changed the P2 to the korean firmware and the dictionary and lyrics works fine, but when i sync it to windows media player 11, the play count doesnt sync. It would used to sync, so that the play count from the P2 would transfer over to the computer, but now it doesnt. Any suggestions? Thanx in advance.
Hmm.. As far as I know some users do experience issues with WMP after the conversion. It has been known that WMP does get confused when switching. The issue isn't the firmware but the region type chosen during the switch. My method switches you to UMS which does have a slight compatibility problem towards WMP. You have two choices... stop using WMP.. or convert back to korean 1.x and use a different config.dat file with the more compatible region selected.. sounds hard but I can help... PM me =)
well i changed the firmware back to English, would that be the equivalent to changing to region. It still didn't work though, which may mean its a wmp issue, but im not sure. I would change from wmp to some other media player but wmp is the only one that syncs the play count from the P2 to the computer. Thanx for replying and thanx for the helpful videos! And Merry Christmas!
i changed to a korean firmware from US firmware long ago and forgot to change it to UMS. mine is KR 5.10 MTP and it still works.. will i experience a problem later on?
Naw the MTP mode works more or less the same as the UMS. UMS is just a slightly different directory setup and better "USB Stick" style compatibility. If everything is working for you then I wouldn't worry about it. Sorry for the delay.
thank you so much you were so helpful. most of the other people gave me vauge instructions, but you gave me the instructions in a very helpful step by step form. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
I'm glad you found it usefull. I did some reasearch before making this one and found what you said, most of the other videos were hard to follow and/or didn't give proper steps. Thanks again for your comment!
Hello. The Setup.ini file that you need to copy for the 2nd firmware update (v1.20) is in the 1.20 Korean firmware file I prepared. All of the files I used in the video can be found on my "MediaFire" file site. That link is posted in the Video Description. Once there you can find the Korean Folder in the "Firmwares" Section. Once you've gotten all the Korean firmwares, follow along with the video. Please let me know if you need further help.
You sure can! I havn't made a video for that process but it is similar to this process. I typed up a color coded instruction sheet in PDF format a while back. I also zipped up new firmware files with the correct config.dat file to make it all "revert" back. You can find all the files on my Mediafire P2 site link found in this video description. The instructions are... in the "Documentaton" section. With the PDF and this video it *should* be pretty clear. Let me know if you need help.
Yep the Korean firmware is exactly the same as the English one except it has the dictionary and lyrics support. You can change the language to English no problem.
sorry if i bother you ^^"...i did what ur video said to do and it's OK! but there is just a little problem : when i digit a word in the dictionary..the resulting meaning is in Korean Language..What to do? thanks
No problem at all.. this is a common issue as the default language for the dictionary is english. However it is really easy to change. Looking at the dictionary word list there are two buttons at the top left. "EK-KE" is English to Korean which shows the word list as English and then gives a Korean definition. If you tap the other button "E-E" which is English to English it will show the words and then the definition in English. So just tap "E-E" and that's it. Enjoy!
Actually when I first opened my P2 I lost (accidentally threw away?!) the protective film that it came with. So just a few weeks ago I ordered a 2nd silicone case (white) and it came with a protective screen film. I have applied a factory P2 film and now my own and I can say that the new one seemed thicker and a little more ridged than the original. They are all meant to be scratched, its protecting the P2s screen that is important. You can always get a new film but the screen would be costly.
Two Reasons actually. One is that I am ridiculously carful. I do my best to avoid putting the P2 near anything that could potentially scratch it (i.e. in my pocket with keys). Second is that I have a silicone case and finally I use a clear screen protector. The case protects against the P2 from sliding across a rough surface and the protector is good for overall screen resistance. I would say that more than anything I am just very carful.
As long as you follow the video I assure you it will work perfectly. I have had dozens of people message me to confirm that it works. If you have any troubles at all let me know and we'll get it figured out. Enjoy!
The dictionary files are in a folder labeled "Dictionary" inside the internal storage folder. If you have the lite dictionary now you will already have the folder. The full dictionary is EXACTLY the same except it has the pronunciation files. This allows you to hit a button while viewing *some* words to hear how the word is said. Probably most used for Koreans trying to learn English. You install it EXACTLY the same way as in the video though. Overwriting your existing dictionary is expected.
Looking at the dictionary word list there are two buttons at the top left. "EK-KE" is English to Korean which shows the word list as English and then gives a Korean definition. If you tap the other button "E-E" which is English to English it will show the words and then the definition in English. Its a pretty good dictionary and I find I use it more often than I thought I would.
You can go back to the US version if you want too. Honestly though the Korean version is better with the dictionary and lyrics support. If you want to go back I have written instructions for it. Go to my mediafire site (Video Description has the link) and in the documentation section I have it posted as "KR to US Firmware Inst.pdf". It's a similar process to this video but requires use of a different config.sys. Give it a try and don't hesitate to ask if you need help.
dude i just got this and im korean so i wanted to update to korean version! and it worked! most ppl who do this is a scam to screw up other peoples things but ur really kind! thanks for the help dude i love my p2
I'm glad you liked the video. As mentioned in the description I don't really take credit for the instructions as I just put them to video for everyone. I'm glad it worked well for you. Please note that I've put the link to the full dictionary in the video description. The full dictionary takes up almost 400mb. Either way... Enjoy!
Yes the P2 can play ACC and OGG. I'm not sure that the P2 supports file tags for ACC yet though. Yes again, you can take ANY US firmware version and follow the video procedure. Just make sure you don't start with v1.15 and put 1.15 on, you don't want to load the same firmware on as it can cause issues.
Unfortunately the P2 can't do either. The P2 acts as a hands free headset or file transfer device only when paired with cell phones. It won't even give you a visual display of a new text message. As far as I know theirs no bluetooth device on the market that supports text message alerts of any kind. The only thing the P2 "could" get is an alert noise/sound passed through bluetooth to your P2. As far as reading/sending text messages goes, youre stuck using your phone for the whole process.
The one I've posted is the Korean UMS 5.10. If you already have that version saved on your PC then feel free to use it instead. Theirs a US and a Korean Version so just be sure you don't put the US back on at the very end. If your not 100% sure then I would just use mine... it works for sure.
Hehe... it was only a matter of time. The video I took showed the correct color but the editing program I used changed some colors. I decided it wasn't enough of an issue to look into. I assure you mine is the same as yours.
wow.... sick video 5/5 and by any chance did samsung stop making updates? and will they soon enough release the dictionary to the US versions? and is the korean dictionary in english? please respond to all THX!!!!
Thanks! They are still making updates, 5.10 was released not even a month ago. I would expect that the dictionary will be available in the next US firmware. The dictionary lets you choose Korean or English, which can work as a Korean to English or English to Korean converter. I hope that answers your questions. Thanks again!
I have also added the FULL DICTIONARY file link to the bottom of the description of this video. Please note the file size is large (257MB uncompressed) and once copied to your P2 it will take up almost 400MB (aprox 100 songs).
PLEASE READ the video description before proceeding with this walkthrough. Their is potential to KILL your P2 by not following this correctly. Please make sure you are starting with US firmware and that you are confident that you want the Korean firmware. Please read the disclaimer on the website in the video description. I do not take responsibility for your actions. If followed correctly your P2s firmware will change from US to Korean and its file transfer will be UMS instead of MTB.
MTP - This is the way most P2's come right out of the box. MTP mode is a special protocol designed to sync easily with Windows Media Player for hassle free music conversion and sync to your portable device. It is rather fickle though and some users note that it does not play well with OGG and m4a files. This means that if you have your player in MTP mode, they will sometimes not transfer properly, and if on the player, the ID tags will not work.
The config.dat file used in this video specifies UMS. Please make sure this is what you want! UMS turns the player into essentially a flash drive and music/video transfer is done directly by drag and drop or music programs that support USB audio players (WinAmp, Media Monkey). UMS mode is also platform independent, so if you're using Linux or a Mac you won't have any issues getting your P2 to connect. This mode is more functional on the P2, but it doesn't work well with Windows Media Player.
does the p2 read a pdf file?thanks

nup it stays english,.. r u talking to me or ian in ur next comments lol:D
LamboGallardo777 3 years ago
I knew there was somethign wrong, when i opened up Kr 5.10 it said modified and a date.. Great, something is wrong with my P2 now.. Thanks man, I owe you one..
n1gr0ll 3 years ago
I know I've sent you lots of messages but you should check your files on korean 5.10.. it says unspecified.. what is that supposed to mean?
n1gr0ll 3 years ago
So you plug your P2 into your computer and when you go to the My Computer window the P2 doesn't show up? What does your P2 do when you plug it in? Does your P2 turn on at all? Sorry for the slow replies... I have limited access to email. If I am too slow try the P2 forum at anythingbutipod dootcoom.

Hey Ian, I was watching this video, and i'm trying to change to the korean firmare from the us. I was reading the comments, and there is a problem with your video, it freezes and jams up the internet explorer. I turned the annonations on like you posted. but that still didn't work. any other ideas on fixing this? or is there another site I can access this video? or can you send me the steps? thanks. (:. oh, and does the FULL dictionary have all languages, or just the prenountiation?
cheesemano1 3 years ago
Their is no difference from the selection of words from the lite to the full dictionary. The Full dictionary has the option to pronounce the words while the lite version does not. Yeah it does seem my video tends to do that for some people. I have limited access to internet and no personal PC where I am. I would recommend accessing the walkthrough at anythingbutipod dotcoom and use my video as a reference. Sorry for the lack of help.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
Okay, so I was able to finish all the steps, but when I try transferring the lite dictionary file to my P2, there is no dictionary file to put the FONTS and DB on? need help on that please :).
cheesemano1 3 years ago
How come you have limited access? Not trying to be snoopy; are you always on the move or something, lol?
n1gr0ll 3 years ago
I am currently in school out of province and only have access to the school computers. They don't allow downloading and access to a wide range of websites. I use my P2 regularly here but don't have access to my personal PC or music library. When I am at home I can check things and try things to provide more accurate results but here I can only look at the P2 and remember what options are available on all the programs we use.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
What the fuck.. When I transfered the Kr5.10 my videos/music don't even work now. Says non supported format
n1gr0ll 3 years ago
Well I had to format it.. Kind of pissed about that, but it said my thing is still US 5.10, I have no dictionairy file though?
n1gr0ll 3 years ago
From the beginning it said US.1.15, US1.20 also US 5.10.. I thought it was supposed to change to Korean.
n1gr0ll 3 years ago
Just some other info: I did click on korean, downloaded all the Korean ones. When I first got it it said the newest one for U.S was 5.08, but after I screwed up my P2 with the korean stuff, lol.. It was supposed to change to KR 5.10, right? Well now even after formatting I have U.S 5.10, I thought the highest was 5.08. ( wow I'm annoying but I'm kind of mad/curious at the moment.)
n1gr0ll 3 years ago
Now it just says data transferring, I don't even have syncing or anything open..
n1gr0ll 3 years ago
Well you do want to finish the upgrade process to Korean 5.10. To do that you have to continue to copy the files I provided onto the P2 via "My Computer" like you did for the other firmware versions. Once you've done that your computer will recognize the P2 as a Mass Storage Drive but still be fully compatible with Emodio for loading of Mp3's and Movies and such.

hey ian this videa doesnt work properly
about 4 minutes in the video freezes and then i have to close my internet
i was looking forward to using the rest of the video because the instructions are very simple and clear
asheen 3 years ago
Hmm.. I'm not really sure why your video/internet would freeze. My best guess is that your IE isn't processing the annotations properly. If you don't think thats it then I'm not sure. If you think I could be right you can turn annotations off by clicking the "up arrow" to the right of the volume control ON the video. Then click the red page icon and it should disable them.. maybe allowing you to watch the whole thing.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
i managed to watch it all
but on my computer if i pause or skip then it freezes
so i watched it all at once and wrote down the directions
asheen 3 years ago
whats the difference between the korean and american firmware
beside you can use the dictionary only with the korean firmware
asheen 3 years ago
Dictionary and Lyrics support. Their is a mode while playing music that allows you to view the lyrics of the song and have it so that it highlights the word that is being sung at the moment. Most of that setup is manual and time consuming but the Korean firmware does allow it. Check my other videos for the lyrics instructions.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
The url file for the firmware doesn't work so if u could please fix it would be greatly apreciated
iqounik 3 years ago
i changed the P2 to the korean firmware and the dictionary and lyrics works fine, but when i sync it to windows media player 11, the play count doesnt sync. It would used to sync, so that the play count from the P2 would transfer over to the computer, but now it doesnt. Any suggestions? Thanx in advance.
HavokProdigy 3 years ago
PM me =)
ian67camaro 3 years ago
well i changed the firmware back to English, would that be the equivalent to changing to region. It still didn't work though, which may mean its a wmp issue, but im not sure. I would change from wmp to some other media player but wmp is the only one that syncs the play count from the P2 to the computer. Thanx for replying and thanx for the helpful videos! And Merry Christmas!
HavokProdigy 3 years ago
i changed to a korean firmware from US firmware long ago and forgot to change it to UMS. mine is KR 5.10 MTP and it still works.. will i experience a problem later on?
mschang49 3 years ago
Naw the MTP mode works more or less the same as the UMS. UMS is just a slightly different directory setup and better "USB Stick" style compatibility. If everything is working for you then I wouldn't worry about it. Sorry for the delay.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
thank u for the reply
mschang49 3 years ago
thank you so much you were so helpful. most of the other people gave me vauge instructions, but you gave me the instructions in a very helpful step by step form. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
p.s. did i spell vauge correctly :)

I'm glad you found it usefull. I did some reasearch before making this one and found what you said, most of the other videos were hard to follow and/or didn't give proper steps. Thanks again for your comment!
p.s. I think you did! =)

Hey... I couldn't find the Korean folder that you talked about in the video. Where is it? or if is not there can you post it again?
W/B
Gracias!
SexieLatinMami 3 years ago
Please let me know if you need further help.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
Got it! Thank Yew so mucho!
davidsaso1234 3 years ago
You sure can! I havn't made a video for that process but it is similar to this process. I typed up a color coded instruction sheet in PDF format a while back. I also zipped up new firmware files with the correct config.dat file to make it all "revert" back. You can find all the files on my Mediafire P2 site link found in this video description. The instructions are... in the "Documentaton" section. With the PDF and this video it *should* be pretty clear. Let me know if you need help.

if i down load the KOREAN FIRMWARE will in be in korean and is it the same with the games
H2OxFrozenHell 3 years ago
Yep the Korean firmware is exactly the same as the English one except it has the dictionary and lyrics support. You can change the language to English no problem.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
sorry if i bother you ^^"...i did what ur video said to do and it's OK! but there is just a little problem : when i digit a word in the dictionary..the resulting meaning is in Korean Language..What to do? thanks
HsISimone 3 years ago
No problem at all.. this is a common issue as the default language for the dictionary is english. However it is really easy to change. Looking at the dictionary word list there are two buttons at the top left. "EK-KE" is English to Korean which shows the word list as English and then gives a Korean definition. If you tap the other button "E-E" which is English to English it will show the words and then the definition in English. So just tap "E-E" and that's it. Enjoy!

yeah i have a clear protective film also but interestinly the film gets scratched from.. idk clothes?
like light scratches but the edges that are not covered by the film seems to be fine.. i mean the curved side.
YSUJY 3 years ago
Actually when I first opened my P2 I lost (accidentally threw away?!) the protective film that it came with. So just a few weeks ago I ordered a 2nd silicone case (white) and it came with a protective screen film. I have applied a factory P2 film and now my own and I can say that the new one seemed thicker and a little more ridged than the original. They are all meant to be scratched, its protecting the P2s screen that is important. You can always get a new film but the screen would be costly.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
hey how do u keep your screen unscratched?
your screen is really clean
YSUJY 3 years ago
Two Reasons actually. One is that I am ridiculously carful. I do my best to avoid putting the P2 near anything that could potentially scratch it (i.e. in my pocket with keys). Second is that I have a silicone case and finally I use a clear screen protector. The case protects against the P2 from sliding across a rough surface and the protector is good for overall screen resistance. I would say that more than anything I am just very carful.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
alrite . thx alot.. ;D i hope it works ^^
vegnagunSX 3 years ago
As long as you follow the video I assure you it will work perfectly. I have had dozens of people message me to confirm that it works. If you have any troubles at all let me know and we'll get it figured out. Enjoy!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
The dictionary files are in a folder labeled "Dictionary" inside the internal storage folder. If you have the lite dictionary now you will already have the folder. The full dictionary is EXACTLY the same except it has the pronunciation files. This allows you to hit a button while viewing *some* words to hear how the word is said. Probably most used for Koreans trying to learn English. You install it EXACTLY the same way as in the video though. Overwriting your existing dictionary is expected.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
Looking at the dictionary word list there are two buttons at the top left. "EK-KE" is English to Korean which shows the word list as English and then gives a Korean definition. If you tap the other button "E-E" which is English to English it will show the words and then the definition in English. Its a pretty good dictionary and I find I use it more often than I thought I would.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
You can go back to the US version if you want too. Honestly though the Korean version is better with the dictionary and lyrics support. If you want to go back I have written instructions for it. Go to my mediafire site (Video Description has the link) and in the documentation section I have it posted as "KR to US Firmware Inst.pdf". It's a similar process to this video but requires use of a different config.sys. Give it a try and don't hesitate to ask if you need help.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
thx for the help 5/5 :P

Awsome! Glad it worked out for you!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
dude i just got this and im korean so i wanted to update to korean version! and it worked! most ppl who do this is a scam to screw up other peoples things but ur really kind! thanks for the help dude i love my p2
YSUJY 3 years ago
I'm glad you liked the video. As mentioned in the description I don't really take credit for the instructions as I just put them to video for everyone. I'm glad it worked well for you. Please note that I've put the link to the full dictionary in the video description. The full dictionary takes up almost 400mb. Either way... Enjoy!

can upgraded firmware p2 play aac format? and also, does the p2 one from bestbuy can do the same procedure as you did on the video?
chltmdwp 3 years ago
hey can p2 play aac format?
chltmdwp 3 years ago
Yes the P2 can play ACC and OGG. I'm not sure that the P2 supports file tags for ACC yet though. Yes again, you can take ANY US firmware version and follow the video procedure. Just make sure you don't start with v1.15 and put 1.15 on, you don't want to load the same firmware on as it can cause issues.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
Can p2 read/send text messages with bluetooth? or just read it and can't sent it?
chltmdwp 3 years ago
Unfortunately the P2 can't do either. The P2 acts as a hands free headset or file transfer device only when paired with cell phones. It won't even give you a visual display of a new text message. As far as I know theirs no bluetooth device on the market that supports text message alerts of any kind. The only thing the P2 "could" get is an alert noise/sound passed through bluetooth to your P2. As far as reading/sending text messages goes, youre stuck using your phone for the whole process.

Thanks a lot Ian.
Had bought P2 with ver WA 5.08 UMS in India. Finally dictionary and lyrics are working.

it worked. thanks, and great job!
you might want to put the mediafire links in the video description, and also mention that the dictionary isn't necessary

Thanks! Good Idea about the links and the dictionary. I'll get on it right now! Thanks Again!
ian67camaro 3 years ago
The one I've posted is the Korean UMS 5.10. If you already have that version saved on your PC then feel free to use it instead. Theirs a US and a Korean Version so just be sure you don't put the US back on at the very end. If your not 100% sure then I would just use mine... it works for sure.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
why is your light yellow?
xaces 3 years ago
Hehe... it was only a matter of time. The video I took showed the correct color but the editing program I used changed some colors. I decided it wasn't enough of an issue to look into. I assure you mine is the same as yours.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
wow.... sick video 5/5 and by any chance did samsung stop making updates? and will they soon enough release the dictionary to the US versions? and is the korean dictionary in english? please respond to all THX!!!!
SGT4EVA 3 years ago
Thanks! They are still making updates, 5.10 was released not even a month ago. I would expect that the dictionary will be available in the next US firmware. The dictionary lets you choose Korean or English, which can work as a Korean to English or English to Korean converter. I hope that answers your questions. Thanks again!

OHHH thx sooo much dude, that really helps.

i went to the website where you told us were to get the FULL dictionary but i can't find it can you give me a link to where it is?
poos93 3 years ago
Sure... Its in the Firmware Section of the Forums. I will PM you with the link.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
I have also added the FULL DICTIONARY file link to the bottom of the description of this video. Please note the file size is large (257MB uncompressed) and once copied to your P2 it will take up almost 400MB (aprox 100 songs).
ian67camaro 3 years ago
PLEASE READ the video description before proceeding with this walkthrough. Their is potential to KILL your P2 by not following this correctly. Please make sure you are starting with US firmware and that you are confident that you want the Korean firmware. Please read the disclaimer on the website in the video description. I do not take responsibility for your actions. If followed correctly your P2s firmware will change from US to Korean and its file transfer will be UMS instead of MTB.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
MTP - This is the way most P2's come right out of the box. MTP mode is a special protocol designed to sync easily with Windows Media Player for hassle free music conversion and sync to your portable device. It is rather fickle though and some users note that it does not play well with OGG and m4a files. This means that if you have your player in MTP mode, they will sometimes not transfer properly, and if on the player, the ID tags will not work.
ian67camaro 3 years ago
The config.dat file used in this video specifies UMS. Please make sure this is what you want! UMS turns the player into essentially a flash drive and music/video transfer is done directly by drag and drop or music programs that support USB audio players (WinAmp, Media Monkey). UMS mode is also platform independent, so if you're using Linux or a Mac you won't have any issues getting your P2 to connect. This mode is more functional on the P2, but it doesn't work well with Windows Media Player.
