  • pardon me, but does anyone know what song is playing when rafa, malak, and ramza are all talking about the corpses and alma and stuff? im sorry i just really wanna know...

  • I think you mean MacGuffin, not McDuffin

  • Of couse Elmdor is evil... HE'S MEDIEVAL SEPHIROTH !!!

  • No Olan's surname shouldn't be Orlandu. Orlandu is his father-in-law, meaning he married Orlandu's daughter and the wife in those days took the name of their husband without question.

  • Gokuu isn't the Dragon Ball character, it's a legend in Japan. I'm just saying.

  • Yeah. It's much safer to fight to get killed on the ground.

  • As a Hell Knight, it makes sense to me that Malak revived "normal." He already embraced the darkness--how can you corrupt that?

But his sister keeps him in check.

  • I completely OWNED Marquis out of pure luck. Marquis got close to Rafa and she chose not to be suicidal. My Ramza was a Ninja with Martial Arts. Since I had boosted a lot for the fight with wiegraf, all I did was go up to Marquis' side and double punched him. Beat this fight in one turn, before the girls could even move! XD

  • This was, by far, the easiest battle in the game for me. Because both Celia and Lede went after my Ramza, who was luckily equipped with Hamedo, I won before I even got a turn.

  • @ 5:15 - Hah hah, that exotic dancer has a skill of "Use Hand" which reminds me to the skill of some other exotic dancers I've met in strip clubs...

  • Hah, FFXII references.

Ch 4: Don't you want somebody to love. Don't you need somebody to love...

  • @10m30s: Yeah HC, I can think of another macguffin like that: the Palantir stones from The Lord of the Rings.

  • let's see if I got this straight

two heirs are fighting to rule the land but, the church is actually pulling the strings. the church wants the war to break the citizens trust so that they can save the day with the holy stones stating that they can resurrect the zodiac braves. what they really want is to rule the world with the power of demons and a figurehead ruler. on top of that Delita has his own agenda. along with that there's a mystery organization after the stones and Alma.

  • @jamesmast2 Close enough. The church doesn't know about the Lucavi. However, there are people working with the church (Vormav) who do.

  • @jamesmast2 and now I just watched the rest of the video... my bad

  • @jamesmast2 Coughs -illuminatti -

  • @jamesmast2 The story is a lot easier to get with the PSP translation, honestly.

  • come on! who misses the perfect chance to start singing Queen when the chapter is called "Somebody To Love"?

  • Velius responded to Weigraf's hatred and agony, and Velius gave him life to pursue that hatred for revenge...The stone Rafa had responded to her sadness, and granted her desire to bring her brother back to life...least thats what I think

  • @hcbailey it was defiantly around in the mid 90s

  • Mr. Bailly I might have a theory of the stones. Maybe the stones themselves are not actually evil but some type of median. For example everyone thus far who had one was greedy and desired power so the stones gave them what they wanted. But Rafa didn't want that she was a good soul so the stone put her in contact with heaven to return her brother. Or maybe cause she is a heaven knight.

  • i think orlandu is olan's father in law, he just calls him father cause some contries do call the in-laws mother and father

  • The Title Of The Game Is A FFXII Reference When Vaan Impersonates Barsch =D

  • I wonder if you tried making Ramza as vulnerable as possible if that would help the chances that he would be targeted over Rafa. Maybe if he is weak enough that one of the assassins can kill him in a single shot (like they did in your video), then they will opt to take the kill, eating up one of their turns.

  • I'm scared of height too!

  • wow.................i was like lev 30 nionja plus ignore height won in one turn and that was my first time playing =o

  • @Jerrezzz I was at level 40 so my team was just over kill.

  • @king504babyboi I was Level 70. And Belias (I have the PSP version.) or Velius was still a bitch, but that was only because of the Demons.. and I don't like using special characters.

  • @20PKShock What I can't stand is those dragons

  • What game should I download from the ps3 store? Final fantasy 7,8, or 9. Or metal gear solid 1? I love nostalgia

  • @greg672 It depends which genre do you like most?

  • I can't stand those two assassins, its nearly impossible to do anything else in the battle with them there,I always try to steal Elmdore's equipment but to no avail -_-

  • It's only a theory but if you read between the lines later in the game or read the zodiac brave story they will do as the holder wishes So that means that if it's good intentions good will happen if it is bad intentions the demon comes to merge with the person who has bad intentions so at least we have the sam theory and btw Rafa and malak are not that bad they can be useful as other classes other than their base classes they have awesome stats and just generally kick ass

  • I'm guessing the reason they're on the rooftop is that Barinten was hiding there while Vormav and Wiegraf were on their little killing spree throughout the rest of his castle.

I think DBZ was out, but it was still in its early stages.

Rafa and Malak can be good party members, just not as their default classes. Rafa's high base Faith makes her perfect for mage classes while Malak's high base Brave makes him a good warrior type.

  • This....level....

first time playing this level ever, play with my full group of fully equipped soldiers ready to destroy everything, lose every single time.

as a total joke, play with ramza and one of every chocobo, win like it was the easiest thing in the game.

    this....freaking....level.....

  • "At what cost?"

Arse that wouldn't listen to his sister got what was coming to him.

Then the plot ruins the good moment. -.-

  • I finished this fight in one single round. Attacked one of the sisters from behind with my Ninja, and it was over. I really can't see what the big problem was...

  • @SilimsLetsPlays Its a matter of speed. If your units have an equal or less amount of speed than the assassins, its possible for them to kill Rafa before you even get a turn. It all depends on how much level grinding you do, and a big part of luck.

  • cant believe you put that as the title, when ff12 drives you mad haha! :p

  • Phoenix Down FTW!

  • What? You didn't even attempt to steal Elmdor's equipment? *sigh*

  • @BaluskiMAN Wrong battle, that one is in chapter 4.

  • Barinten looks like a Sontaran

  • Basch lives!

  • 1 more thing did you notice that mutardio and balthier from FF12 have the same last name

  • and moogles make a return

  • FF13-2 looks awesome. i've some screen shots and read some stuff about it.the battle is evolved from13 and you should lp it when it comes out.

  • 06:40 ''We won the day, but at what cost?"

    2 Sec later.

    Congratulations! You won 10,000 Gil!

    XD

  • why wont your videos show yourself on my subscription list!

  • The explanation that I heard is that the stones are the portal to the other realm. Period.

Lucavi and beings of good can use them.

  • I'd say the whole stone thing depends on the users INTENTIONS (not the actual user)...

ondore (and other bad guys) only wanted to keep living to win their war, so the stone revived them and gave them power by transforming them... and a by-product of that is that it corrupts them and they no longer act like themselves

rafa doesn't want war. She isn't really pure of heart (was going to kill her adoptive father lol) but her intentions were good, so her brother revived without extra power

  • In the PSP version, instead of saying "whoever uses it will have to deal with the problem" Malak says that he does not believe the stones are evil inherit, but rather depends on the user.

  • mcguffins?

  • @ProfessorOak420 Stuff everybody in the game's universe is after, usually in multiple pieces.

  • can you imagine galaxy stop with short charge? Olan could turn the tide on any battle he is on if he leveled up in time mage a bit.

  • At 14:02, sing with me.

*Sings* Don't You want somebody to Love, don't you need somebody to Love, would you want somebody to Love, you better find somebody to Love. :O

  • To anwser why Malik was revived and not turned to the Dark Side, was because he was compelety misled by Barinten and he didn't thrist for power like the others before him.

Does that answer you're question HC Bailly? :)

  • You lucked out here. Celia and Lede RARELY go after you over Rafa, I think it's a 5-10% chance or something.

  • @samisagamer Actually, they tend to target the 'weakest' target. HC's team is well built, but his average team member has a lot less HP than Rafa, which makes them really, really tempting targets for the AI.

  • Ahh classic HCbailly, "I'm going to be a little quiet for this part" ...(two count) .. "and he..."

  • I always figured Olan was calling Cid "father" out of respect. Considering I don't think he's his blood father. I guess I could be wrong about that though, it's been a while since I've played this myself.

(sorry for so many comments, I just have this much to say. ._.)

  • @Dante2056 Olan's Cid's adopted son.

  • @ZeryusAgain Ah. Well, thanks. Like I said, I haven't played in a long time.

  • @Dante2056 :) It happens, the only reason I even remember that is because I was playing last week xD besides, it's a slight detail that's only alluded to a handful of times so it's easy to forget.

  • Let's see, MgGuffin's I can think of off the top of my head:

    The Triforce (LoZ)

    Holy Stones (FFT)

    Mana Sword (SDIII)

Would the White Materia in FFVII count?

I believe the Arks in White Knight Chronicles.

That's all I can think of, and the first 3 you said.

  • I'm thinking the reason that Malak was revived and not made evil is because Rafa didn't have evil intentions.

  • @whattheblox That is a good point. :)

  • The Riovanes Rooftop battle, and one other battle, are tied for my least favorite story battles in the entire game. You got damn lucky the other Assassin didn't use Stop Bracelet, which is the instant death spell they have.

  • Also, this battle explains why Elmdore's age still showed up in his Brave Story profile after he supposedly "died" in battle: He wasn't really dead after all. Kind of a little hint there by the game.

  • What Zodiac stone healed Malak? I forgot who has what stone now

  • the Goku rod is based off of Son Goku from the Journey West, whom Goku is based off of.

  • Whenever HCBailly says he'll be a little quiet he talks through the whole thing. I wonder what it's like to see a movie with HCBailly.

  • @torgyman Let's just say I'll be going to the "special" Hell.

  • @HCBailly oh my god that was an awesome retort

  • @HCBailly race you there

  • @HCBailly

Some evil queen and some talking animals are probably going to force you to watch bad movies, and your success will depend on your ability to trash them. Must practice for that moment.

  • @torgyman its true, he's ussually like "i'll be a little quiet....... so anyway...."

  • My Dad calls my Mum's Mum, Mum and she calls him her son too, it's not strange to refer to your in-laws as just Mum and Dad, at least not in my family.

  • not sure if anyone said this, but what the Duke was referring to by "your body remembers terror", he was referring to how he raped her.

this is not me analyzing it, in fact, the PSP version is actually less vague.......and he creepily talks a bit more about it.

this is what i heard from someone who let's played the PSP version as well as Wikipedia.

  • The battle was won, but at what cost?

Ramza LOL, he's dead too. ( Sorry, I just couldn't help but think it was a little humorous to see the main character lying there, dead - good thing Ramza can just get up and dust himself off after dying. what a useful skill for a main character.)

  • Am I the only one that always thought Lede was really hot?

  • @drunyon214 Yeah, pretty sexy how she flung and killed a fat guy with one friggin' hand. Female Assassins who are hot are, generally, not human. Since Elmdor is their boss, it's a pretty safe bet he isn't either...

Think of Celia and Lede as poison dart frogs - beautiful to look at, but incredibly deadly...

  • I can't believe so many people had trouble with this battle... it never gave me any problem. The assassins always seemed to try to kill my characters, not Rafa. But I guess that's because I was a higher level with more speed to get up there, or something. I always just wailed on Lede and she died fast, usually after insta-killing one of my characters with her 100% instant death ability.

  • For those who haven't played this game and were wondering why the assassin's were very deadly, well they have an instant kill attack that has 100% accuracy. It's got a one square radius (like a melee attack), but still. 100%. You don't fuck around with that.

  • @ChaosBahamut And they also have a much more accurate version of Steal Heart. (think that's got a 100% chance of hitting as well, although it has the same limitation Steal Heart does in that it only works on units of the opposite gender or monsters)

  • why are you using lise instead of angela in the final sd3 path when the rest have used hawk and the character from that path

  • @kkkirlia Angela contributes VERY little to her own storyline, compared to the other characters. Hawk is far more versatile and able to greatly change the dynamic of the party, unlike Angela. Worry not, though. I do have a save state to show off the very few unique interactions between Angela & Duran.

  • @HCBailly, they had dragon balls. the original series in AM back then.

  • @HCBailly, iirc you can get a ramza ability from the assassins, you have to have some special ai setup for it though... cant remember what.

  • I remember first watching DBZ (in New York) in 1998. And I know it had been on for at least several months (perhaps more than a year) by the time I started

  • I believe Cid adopted Orran/Olan, so he's his adoptive father. (At least to the best of my memory)

  • @ZeryusAgain Olan is the adopted son of Cid, he says so when you meet him for the second time (episode 34 of this LP).

Although he says he is his father-in-law in this version, in the PSP version he says he was adopted as a child. So I assume it is just another case of poor translation (as is most of the dialogue in this game).

  • @epsleon The PS1 version's translation issues are mostly in Chapter 4 I believe, I'm sure we've seen quite a few derps here and there but Chapter 4 is just horrible.

  • the song that plays during the scene 11:57 seems familiar! where has that been used before... is it ff4 or ff10?

  • Elmdor is a BAMF

  • answer after 10:45: Does "the force" count

  • hcbaily your the tops

  • Implied rape! Hurrah!

  • I think I have better chance with the lotto than that rooftop battle. Just a long stream of Rafa heading straight into the assassins and dieing brutally.

  • Same with the song when Rafa and Ramza were on the roof

  • What is the name of the song when HCbailly was fighting Elmdor? It is badass!

  • @walkernintendofan Battle on the bridge

  • ...but at what costCONGRATULATIONS!

  • HCBailly your theory is correct I think somewhere in the game they explain that the stones power is neither evil or good. It all depends on the heart of the beholder and his/her wish...as cheesy that may sound.

  • Dragonball Z came out in america in the 1900's about 1995 then about 7 to 5 years later dragonball GT came out

  • I believe that how a Zodiac Stone is used depends on the person. They have power, and whether it is used to become a Lucavi (represented by the stone's sign), or some other effect, is based on the user's... Intent. They grant the user's wish. Now, I do believe that the Lucavi actually have certain people they are 'linked' to (you'll see), but even if you don't become one, you're influenced by them if it's a selfish wish, like power, revenge, ect. And Rafa's wasn't.

  • I was having breakfast when I watched this earlier today...I was eating a McMuffin while you talked about the McGuffins. lol

  • I like how the enemies are like "Man, Ramza, you are strong!" and Ramza's face is in the roof tiles. :D

  • Ya know, HCBaily, I pretty much agree with you on how good final fantasy games are. for example, I love ff tactics, 9, 4, and 6 but my bottom ones are 8 and 2. My question is why do you not like ff10, its one of my, if not the favorite of the series.

  • It took me many tries to beat this battle, even then it was pure luck. You make it look so easy.

  • It says in the PSP version that the Stone's power is manifested by its user. You are right HcBailly.

  • They kinda explain it in the PSP version, but its been awhile since ive played it. If I recall, you actually got it right, with the whole holy stone theory.

  • i heard that the Lucavi in the holy stone Rafa has is trying to redeem it's self so by resurrecting Malak and not turning him evil it felt somewhat redeemed

  • The Lucavi in this game are several of the Espers from FF XII. In the remake this is more apparent because several things were altered in it to connect it to the other Ivalice games. Exaples are Velius becomes Belias and Holy Stones renamed Auracite, the stone in which Espers' glyphs are contained.

  • Can anybody find meeeeeeeee... somebody tooooo loooooveeee!

  • Ramza- "you have two hot female bodyguards?!" Elmdor"yes and they are not only hot but ridicously dangerous!" Ramza-" tsk! i have but one special female in my team as of this moment (agrias) and for that you must die! HAVE AT THEE!"

  • @Swepaat Otaku, the wizard of HCBailly's party, is female.

  • @Flashflame00 YES! but not a "special" female like agrias and those two women that have a special design and look.

  • @Swepaat I think what you're referring to is the character sprites.

  • @Flashflame00 thats the word! thanks very much but it seems my joke failed -.-

  • 6:23 Listen? He's laying flat on the ground, buddy. I don't think he got one word of that.

  • What you thought was a spell animation was a lot like the Holy spell. Holy uses the same sound effect, and just as a similar animation in general.

  • Considering the point of fighting is to kill people the added danger of being on a roof is negligible

  • Elmodor wasnt a bad guy in life though. That theory doesnt work HCBailley. What I was thinking was that it depends on the circumstances involved in death. Falling in battle during a war, or against Ramza in the cathedral are far different than dieing to save your sister's life. There wasnt much rage or anger, just the desire to protect her. That's what I think anyways.

  • In this particular battle, no character has priority on their attack chart, so they act as normal. I dont know WHY she cast stop bracelet on rafa instead of just killing her, but once she was stopped, the AI decided she wasnt a threat so went for ramza.

  • I am honestly surprised no one caught what the Grand Duke was talking about to Rafa. It is made all the more explicit in the PSP version to the point I was glad the Lucavi did him in.

  • Rafa: He's Alive!

Ramza: Its a trick, get an ax.

    Rafa: right awa.... wait, what?

Malak: I have a splitting headache.

    Ramza: Your about to....

  • Why do you always take a break at the end of a disc/chapter? You don't take breaks if the game only has 1 disc, like FFVI. And FFVI has way more episodes then FFT (so far).

FFVI = 93 episode, no breaks

    FFT = 40 episode (so far) = 3 breaks.

I just find your reason for taking breaks... odd.

    No offense ^^

  • @OnePieceFollower It seems like an appropriate time to take a day off. Especially early in the LP, I wasn't accustomed to making 15-20 minute episodes. You might say that's only 5 more minutes, but that gets multiplied by the testing, editing, reviewing, and processing that I have to do. It took me a little getting used to. It was also difficult for me to get together with my brother to record our side LP, so I sometimes wanted a day off from this to record a few episodes of that.

  • @OnePieceFollower

    Get a life loser.

    No offense ^^

  • Comment removed

  • @Burialhound I already have a life. It involves me doing your mom

  • Comment removed

  • @OnePieceFollower

It must be hard to do my mom when your sitting around counting HCBailly episodes and taking note of every time he takes a break. Maybe you need to take a break from life.... permanently.

  • @Burialhound it IS hard when Im doing your mom, how did you know? :)

The breaks were just noticeable because there are so many in this LP. And I just named a random game with 1 disc/cartridge and went to his playlist to check how many episodes it has. As if I actually know how many episodes each of his playlists are... dumbass. I don't know what goes on in that little head of yours, but you've got problems (probably child abuse and rape)

And how are you gonna make me take a break 'permanently'?

  • @OnePieceFollower

How do you know how many breaks he takes from the playlists? you would have to sit there and write down every time he has taken a break in a LP. And I wont make you take a break, just a suggestion. So go and watch your shitty little anime shows, the big boys have to go to work.

  • @Burialhound I don't know how many breaks he takes. He only does it when a game has seperate discs and/or chapters. And I KNOW, for example, FF6 has no seperate chapters. I don't know why you makes such assumptions, but I guess you can't expect more from someone with a lower IQ then a monkey. I rather watch my anime shows then arguing with a dumbass. And you're a big boy? Does that mean you can use your daddy's tampons now? Enjoy your big-boy job (which is probably code for prostitution)

  • @Burialhound I'm not responding anymore, you already lost a long time ago. Now leave me alone fuckface

  • Because Rafa used the stone for another instead of for her own power or gain, it reacted in a way as to simply call back Malak's spirit. The Stones aren't necessarily evil or good, it just reacts to the holder.

  • "Don't believe Ondore's lies", Final Fantasy XII right?

  • olan/orran is orlandeau's adopted son, that's why he doesn't have orlandeau as a last name.

  • Heh, you really should make more Dana Carvey reference. He's funny. :>

  • Who else thought of Queen when they saw the new chapter title?

  • DBZ's been around since the S/NES (1990's). So yes, DBZ has been around since 1992. I thought it was much newer than that as well, but DBZ's been around for a while. (watch some vids from DBZ online, they're really from the early 90s O.o)

  • @trikitiger They were translated pretty poorly at one point Goku being named Son Ling or some crap like that

  • Ramza can learn Ultima on the roftop battle right HC?

  • @AshUltimega Yeah, pretty sure he can. Sorry, not HC, but still felt like I could answer your question, haha.

  • @AshUltimega No. Later.

  • @AshUltimega It has to be chapter 4 before you can learn ultima. You can learn it from the assassins in a later battle or from ultima demon.

  • @AshUltimega negative, i think. The soonest he can learn it is before the fight at Limberry w/ you-know-who right outside the castle.

  • @AshUltimega No, the slot for Ultima doesn't unlock until Chapter 4. You can tell when it's available if you have Squire mastered, because in chapter 4 it won't show the Mastered tag until you learn Ultima

  • @AshUltimega In the PSP version, Luso can, then Luso can teach it to Ramza.

  • Hey HC, Remember that music at the end.... ;) You'll hear it again, soon. Which reminds me are you going to use "him" when the time comes?

  • 1:47 Was that a Dana Carvey reference?

  • @bubba200874426 Good call!

  • I think that it's based on the person, but not that if the person has a good will then there is no demon. I think it's a matter of whether or not the person has the will to suppress the Lucavi. Or at least that's what I gathered from Malak and Ramza's dialogue after Malak's revival.

  • One last shot at redemption...Ha, good pun. Also, I agree with your thoughts on the stones, that is what I have always thought myself. great vid, looking forward to the next ones, enjoy your small break.

  • You know, I was reading something, somewhere, that gives a logical explanation as to why Rafa has such a shitty AI in this battle.

She just saw her brother get KILLED before her eyes. If that happened to your brother, wouldn't you blindly fling yourself at your enemies without thinking? I know I would.

Even more so if the person who killed my brother was, well, killed by someone ELSE right in front of me.

  • .. Wow, that's timing... I'm actually playing FFXI in the background, and right when Malak raised, the 'Raise' magic sound effect went off in the game... >.>

  • What's up with the random costume change for Ramza? There's no time skip between Chapters 3 and 4.

  • I don't know what the other explanations are or what the wiki says. I haven't even gotten this far on the PSP version despite having made Ramza a MASTERED Dark Knight. Stuck on the execution site because the rest of my party is a little under-powered. My interpretation of why it didn't make him evil? The Stone's are not inherently evil, they're simply power, that power reflects the heart of the user. Someone who grieved out of love for her brother is not evil. It was a desire to save another.

  • oddly this is where I first learned ultima for Ramza. I got lucky when Lede/Celia casted on Ramza making the rest of CH4 easy

  • Comment removed

  • @HCBailly are you gonna use the "Thunder God" in this LP?

  • I remember this fight... *Flashback* RAFA YOU IDIOT... Damn it Rafa... Not again... OH MY GOD...THEY KILLED RAFA...YOU BASTARDS! Son of a B####... F###! Why...why do you keep doing that Rafa? NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... I GIVE UP... Is it possible to beat this damn battle!? *Flashback ends* With luck, you can beat this battle like you did HC Bailly.
  • He was revived because he was 'Holier than thou'

  • I think this is the first time one of your videos has disappointed me. I had always thought of you as a completionist, similar to myself, so it's sad to see that you didn't pack your party full of max speed Thieves to steal the unique equipment and then manage to get that certain spell.
