You're probably referring to Route V.5 which is the East face looking at Matterhorn. Gerry only recommends it as a snow climb. We took the West face down which is similar but a much longer hike to get back to the main trail. On the way down off the top, it appeared to be an easier route down - we're we ever wrong! We were on the face for 3 hours and were afraid we might 'Cliff out" at any point.

Just goes to show that you should never deviate from your plan!

Wow! What an adventure!! Is the route you folks took for your descent described in Gerry Roach's book? That looked gnarly.  I was super nervous watching this video! Beautiful day.
