jfmb where i work the driver is in charge of the siren, and xsax in the local area departments hav a numbering system to identify them, the first 1 or 2 digits identify the department, minooka is 13s obviously, the second number is the station number and the last digit is the type of equiptment, 1 2 3 are engines 4 5 are ambulances 6 is a squad or heavy rescue 7 tanker 8 brush unit 9 ladder trucks
yep, correct, except that 8 can be used for "alternative" units as well. for an example, in Westmont (MABAS 10) their command unit is 1888. I have also seen 8 used for pick up trucks, fire prevention vans, things like that
around here, its station number followed by id, 0 is field pieces, we us 4, 5, 6, for eninges, 1, 2, 3, for rescues, 7 for ladders of just make it ladder (station)
no use in having a q if your not gonna use it. its useless as a intersection clearer. it only sounds great when its used constantly, allowing it to go up and down
ok from my point of view since i go to minooka almost everyday the fire dept their is way too big they have like 20 trucks a little over board considering the size of minooka
The Q's in the center of the front bumper. But like most departments today it's been downgraded to a secondary siren just for clearing intersections. In fact I've seen many rigs where the Q is controlled only by the driver.
Needs a Q......

Our 2006 Pierce Enforcer has no pedals for the Q siren, its contolled by the driver using the horn button on the steering wheel.
But every time they go out, they go out loud and proud with the Q, I don't think I've ever heard the electric siren used on that truck.
