And reality551 shut your fucking mouth u paki basterd.

  • Dutch are Selfish and cowerd peopel, also bloody arrogant and very stupid because on there tv channels they only show the problems of rest of the world and news papers are the same very narrow minded peopel. Only freedom Dutch got is allow to use drugs and everywhere are hookers most of Holland is just police state.

  • @Reality551 mmm.... got played and eventually dumped by a dutch boy? whahahaaaaaa

  • @Reality551

You're wrong about most things, but generally taken, dutch people really are cowards, traitors and pussies.

  • @SLiDEnl

    loser?

  • @1602VOC1602

    Niet bepaald.

  • @SLiDEnl

ben bang dat veel mensen je een loser vind als je zo dom over jezelf praat

  • England may have lost the Glorious Revolution and ofcourse for a world power as England is it's not amusing that they have been conquered by the Dutch. But actually, this event stabilized the English position. The Dutch brought them their famous trade and shipbuilding skills. Because the Dutch stadtholder was now king of England (Britain), stockchanging went from Amsterdam to London. After the king died , England and the Netherlands seperated. England had now the knowledge and took over.

  • I like you both (Britain and Netherlands) ;-)

  • The 4th war was played out bad for us Dutchies.

We lost our colony St. Eustatius in 1784, the last year of the war.

I find that the reasons why the war started pretty lame if you ask me.

  • Anglo-Dutch Liberal Economics is a disease of humanity.

  • if talk about major defeats at sea, England did the Netherlands only 3 times, while the Dutch did the Brits 5 times, stop yelling england rules the waves its not true (plus the Netherlands governd over England and Ireland for like 60years, )

  • your king was king of England-its different from saying yu governed England...........The British monarchy is originally german, but you wouldnt say the germans are in charge of Britain.

As for Britain ruling the waves, it had the largest empire that has ever existed-its navy was big enough to match that empire, so Britain really did rule the waves........even now Britain has one of the most powerful navies

  • 1, you mean Germanic not German, the Netherlands are Germanic to, and Scandinaivia etc, 2, the british empire was never the largest the world ever got to see, its the Mongol empire, and second is the Soviet Union, 3 like i said, the Dutch aint second to the British (even though the Dutch empire was really much smaller then your empire in landmass, still, you didnt do shit to us

  • The British house of Windsor is a branch of the German house of Saxe coburgh gotha

    british empire-landmass 33,670,000 km2

    soviet union-landmass 22,402,200 km2

As for `doing` somethingto you-i didnt say we did.

  • Anyway, you can often assess how influential a nation was by how much fo its culture has spread accros the world-what percentage of the world population can speak some Dutch, and what percentage can speak some English? What percentage of the world has adopted political institutions based on the British model and based on the thinking of British thinkers such as paine, Hobbes, J S Mill etc......and what percentage of the world has emulate the Dutch?

  • exactly 1% of the world can speak Dutch, probably like 10% speak English, so what, your language descents from Dutch/German/Danish so what should i care, and then another thing, there were as much good Bristish thinker, scientists etc as there were Dutch ones, like i said, the Netherlands is in no way second to UK, one more thing, the whole economic system that makes this world go round descents from the Dutch design of economics, so i call wer even

  • actually, the figure is 25% of the world has at least some knowledge of English and its the language of international politics and business.

And which country was responsible for spreading the ideas which contain a lot of dutch thinking, around the world via its empire and the fact that it was the first heavilly industrialised country on earth-Britain i think

  • true england was the first industrious country in the world, god that was bad for our health, if you dont mind i dont count people who know how to say hallo and count to 10 in english english speaking people, if i would do that, all the people of Japan, Indonesia and many other places around the world got some Dutch language knowledge to, but forget about it,i certainly dont hate theBrits nor disrespect them or whatever, just wanted to inform you that there is more then just england in this world

  • i think these are the statistics for English speakers

    First language: 309 400 million.

    Second language: 1,800 billion.

    Overall: 1.8 billion.

  • nah dont think so, biggest languages are mandarin(exclusive cantonese), hindustan and Spanish(exclusive catalonian), most learnd as a second language are Spanish and German

  • please note im not being rude or anything,. just having a discussion

  • Damn, can't we put aside the war?

Before the 4th war we were firm allies with britain, and we boh pwned napoleons ass not long after that. Come on, can't we be friends anymore?

  • we can if the British accept that the Dutch have been a first class world power with only a very small but importand foothold in Europe, did you know high class people in Asia learned Dutch sooner then English, especialy in Japan

  • Well no, Willem was Dutch, and ruled both in the Netherlands and England. But if we look to history. The Netherlands ruled the waves in the 17th century, the British in 18th and 19th century. Holland was definetely the mightiest country in the 17th century with a big empire. In the Glorious Revolution, we had a personal union with England. In that time, we brought our naval and trade knowledge to England. England now had the knowledge and stocktrade went to London, that's where Britain took over

  • @GrappendeGrapjas 'Holland was definetely the mightiest country in the 17th century with a big empire' - no, the spanish were still the greatest. How many people in the world speak dutch? 27 million. Spanish, 450 million. Dutch empire was 2.1 million km in 17th century, spanish was 18 million. You can't even compare the two. The dutch never had enough land or population to make an impact on the world stage. They had the biggest merchant navy for a while, but not power. Legacy shows power.

  • @maureenOWW Holland was the riched country in the world in 17 century, because of trading. Our army was actually very great at that time. It was never our intention to make the people in the colonies our people, we made them slaves... We didnt teached them our language.

  • You can say that the Dutch and British had different politics. The Dutch were only interested in trade and gold. The British were interested in creating a big empire. The Dutch for example discovered and conquered Australia (New-Holland). We found it useless and passed it to Britain, who made it a prison. In the 18th century Britain (and France) took over the Dutch position, mainly due their mainland's size. Still, Britain has been influenced by the Dutch and opposing.

  • Ofcourse English is the most important language in the world, but that's mainly because the influence of the United States. Britain controled only the west part of the USA. But nevertheless. We both influenced each other and we both had big empires and we both ruled the waves. Due size and other politics Britain went mightier. But we should forget our rivalry. We also fought along many times.

Against the Spanish, the French, Napoleon and ofcourse the Nazi's.

  • @bulked

Still about 1/5 size of the Russian navy and 1/10th of the US navy ;) And soon china will take over your 3th position

The royal navy is a tale from the past I'm afraid

  • @Jochem717 size of navies dont make power-Britains fleet is small but its power projection ability is one of the highest in the world-the numbers may be small, but the abiities of the ships makes it a very powerful navy, more so tan other larger ones

  • Now I know were, "to beat the Dutch" comes from

  • lol still the biggest defeat ever on the Brtiish fleet.

Also afer this war and the third Anglo-Dutch war, there was a invasion of the Brtiish isles not called a invasion because there was little resitance ...which brought the grandchild of William of Orange on the British throne.

The Irish still moan about him, because he marched into Ireland to kick the catholic French kings ass...and most Irish were Catholics lol....stop supporting the sun king you bastards.

  • But yeah..this invasion created the whole mess of Northern Ireland, Orange marches etc.. a giant tragedy..

Because William of Orange was very tolerant of Catholics.

  • i love the netherlands

  • Comment removed

  • The Dutch fleet was the best during the 17th century.

  • @GrootHolland1572

holland still has the worlds best warships

  • defeat english fleet is a true exploit.Especially When one knows the size of Holland.

    Greeting. From Paris.

  • Bravo for Dutch pride in the 16th and 17th century.

In the Golden Age they NEVER lost a war.

They lost their lives and sometimes a seabattle, but NEVER a war.

    "Hollandiaa Gloriaa"

  • Smirking with pride as i am dutch.

  • Right, the very first national anthem was the Dutch anthem.

All other nations could only copy that Dutch invention.

  • In Brazil,Holland lost.
