Show us the proof wako. The proof is in the pudding. What kind of drugs are you oh anyway... Merv fukin Griffin>?? haha, Your way OUT THERE dude. Keep tokin. lol
Jimi was murdered by the FBI, the CIA, the DEA, the FDA, 3 of the Beatles, 6 of the Hollywood Squares, 9 of the Osmonds, 7/8ths of the population of Parma, Ohio, Doris Day, Chuck Connors, Merv Griffin, Andy Griffith, Fabian, Fabio and Mel Blanc. I have charts and graphs to prove this.
If you lived back then you understand that there is nothing suprising about the attitude of the guy doing the report. The demographic that watched the evening news was very social conservitive in those days. You're parents and grandparents hated rock music, they watched Lawerace Welk and Porter Wagoner on TV. The attitude you see here with this guy is exactly where some of the inpiration for a lot of the music came from. It all fits together and is a part of history.
I just want to smack that stupid reporter!!! Talking about Jimi like he was beneath him! JIMI HENDRIX WAS A GOD COMPARED TO HIM! Yet, they talk about him like he was sh*t on a shoe...wtf?
@KristaDawn1985 I agree, he is a douche. Fact is the was an internal war going on in the country, straights vs the heads. They basically hated everyone with long hair and rock influenced, especally ones who were know to do drugs.
@RanetkiFan he was also black, a black rocker was probably the worst back in the day. I mean it was 1970 but thats right after the civil rights movement. That guy was talented.
America is still in a culture war, it's basically a non-violent civil war, for the hearts and minds of the population. The sides are European-imported, Secular Liberalism vs. Judeo-Christian, Conservative American exceptionalism. This video's near it's outset, the 60's counter culture movement. I find it rather surreal that a mainstream news reporter reveal a glimmer of non-leftist zeal, the utter reversal of today, as the media is an arm of the Democratic party.
@KristaDawn1985 Jimi hendrix didn't become popular to the rest of America until after his death... Remember back then he was considered a stupid acid hippie.
'The Jimi Hendrix Museum' on Union St, at Main St in Vancouver. A tiny, 100 year old storefront 3 blocks away. That's now enshrined and, saved from the wrecking ball. Only because of his frequent visits there.
@lemurianchick ... At that time there was a big mantra about "Don't Trust Anyone Over 30!!"... perhaps you have heard it, maybe not, but it was a popular slogan at the time. I think that's where they got the number from.
"he should have been a millonaire, we don't know if he gave away his money, but we do know he's dead, overdosed" gee, good one there Jackson, you tell news like a pro
His manager Mike Jeffries was bilking him out of his money and Hendrix knew it towards the end. Hendrix was broke because his manager was bilking him of his money.
"The Jimi Hendrix Experience is over...", hilarious. ...Hendrix flailed his (cough) electric guitar into some of the most unusual sounds of an unusual music... Half-way decent, succint report by Gregory Jackson, whoever he was or is. A cut above a sound bite but still better coverage than CBS. Everbody seems vaguely exhausted, even relieved. In contrast, today they just wouldn't stop taking about it. A study in extremes.
nixon was president at the time. of course nixon was pro war anti marijuana. just think of all that together. then think about smoking in high school-- with the square high school authority.
Perfect example of the indifferent attitude of the media, at that time, towards a genius who didn't meet the "status quo." Also, read more, before you believe anything this guy says about Jimi's career...his was not an easy one...nor was he as "rich" as portrayed here... Very sad to watch.
@zimminkie - Yes, it was typical. We'd figure out later why JH's death was hardly cause for grief among them, but their attitude about everything was so cold, so utilitarian, we figured they were reporting that yet another telephone pole or a dishwasher had crapped out. We figured differently.
@zimminkie Just like The Beatles were not given Grammys during their heyday (I think they won Best New Artist or something at the beginning). Now everyone gets Grammys and it doesn't mean as much.
They totally failed to mention Hendrix served in the U.S. Army. 101'st Airborne.

Find the one from NBC news & post it, if it exists, now THAT'S rare!
