  • Great! Thx for uploading!

  • Endless tranquility...

  • Ohh man, I really love this part, and the interpretation is so beautiful...

  • As i repeat this piece again and again,

I get more and more deep into it.

    I love this. Thanks!

  • Thumbs up if The Ask Octavia Tumblr lead you here!

  • @Linkzor24

Well, you've got one thump up from me. So you felt compelled to look up this song too? I didn't expect to find any pony related comments here.

  • Awesome!

  • can't everyone just agree that although it's better on cello, it's EASIER on viola! and perhaps more naturally suited to the viola's range

  • i love this rendition (of course! it's yo yo ma!) but i have to say i think this piece is more suited for the viola, range wise and tone wise. it's still beautiful though!

  • Oh my goodness, this is the most perfect piece of music which I have ever heard in my entire life!

  • Bashmet is the best sorry ! ^^

  • @loorloop Well, if we're going with your judgement...I'll be a ass about it and say this: do you really think viola can stand against the power of the cello? No, it cant. Ok. Thanks. Bye.

  • @Tokushimaz Yes, The viola is like the arpeggione without the E string so the viola is better . I am sorry but the viola is more powerful than the cello =) Like Violin is more powerful than the Viola =)

  • @loorloop dude, don't say that in viola it's better. It's not.

  • @Tokushimaz I just said that viola is better for this sonate because it is like the arpeggione

  • @loorloop Dude, search arpeggione to see pictures and information.

"The arpeggione is a six-stringed musical instrument, fretted and tuned like a guitar, but bowed like a cello, and thus similar to the bass viola da gamba.photo The body shape of the instrument, is however more similar to a medieval fiddle than either the guitar or the bass viol."

How's the arpeggione like the viola? They're from different families, and its more related to the cello and the bass. Learn your facts.

  • Esto es poesia.....

    Gracias.

Schubert es tan magnifico, tan grande, te trasnporta.. es tan dulce y tierno...

No se mucho de musika clasica pero esto si es romanticismo...

  • Movie's cut...

  • a super raffinato phrasing.

  • Bravissimo!!!! Greate, and sound like viola! Or true Arpeggione.

  • it's a magnifique interpretation !!!! thanks !!!!!! it's very musical !!!! continue !!!!

  • if anyone knows where i can get guitar tabs for this piece i would be very happy!

  • @metalnevadies not meaning to be rude, but learn to read sheet music.

  • @metalnevadies A guitar would ruin this piece. Trust me on this one.

  • @platinumdynamite

nah i imagined it in my mind it sounds real pretty

  • @platinumdynamite @metalnevadies

What qualifies you to be trusted on this? This piece sounds great on guitar.

  • @LenSaxMassiv Sorry, when I read that he wanted tablature I assumed that he meant for electric guitar. On a classical it would sound nice.

  • This is good , but listen to Andras Schiff and Miklos Perenyi, a wonderful interpretation where you can see the interpreters playing (with their eyes closed) in perfect harmony.

  • i get a little pissed when people have to gloat about other videos performed by someone else (in this case this 12 year kid Oliver). I for one dont feel the full effect of what someone is playing if they are only 12 years old. I myself am a cellist entering college, and i know the things you hear out of a cellist mature with time, and cannot fully be understood at such a young age. He is no doubt a great cellist, but I still listen to this version because Yo Yo Ma connects with the music so much

  • @Bigbug123456 Couldnt have said it better myself. I wish people would just appreciate the music, and keep their criticism to themselves. This is one of my favorite interpretations, and Yo-yo Ma is an incredible cellist.

  • There's a very nice performance by brazilian's musicians: Antonio Menezes (Cello) and Gilberto Tinetti... Enjoy it, if you could!

  • MILKOS PERENYI FTW

  • I'm speechless...amazing!

  • I got to see Yo Yo Ma play this recently! Absolutely fantastic

  • Good, but I like Feuermann's much better

  • Now that's the way the Shubert Arpeggione Sonata should be played!

  • My heart is going to explode! Splendid

  • THAT'S GREAT!!!

  • lovely.....tears....love...pleasure...all this comes from this music.

  • This sonata is one of my favorites and i was really lucky to hear it played by Yo Yo here in Lima-Peru last year. It was simply marvellous

  • two words.

    emanuel feuermann

  • Total agreement here :-)

  • A splendid performance. Thanx for sharing Yo-Yo with us.

  • great performace and well played by one of the best musicians, thanx for posting this:-)

  • Well i definitely like this interpretation better than that of Yuri Bashmet, This one is actually more in character.

  • Bashmet's recording of this is probably my least favorite recording that he's done. The video of him playing it on youtube is almost embarrassing to the violists of the world.

Goes to show that even the world's best violists can have horrible days.

  • Are referring to the perf. with Argerich? Does anyone know what happened to it I cannot see it anywhere anymore?

  • thank you for your posting.

    i searched web for this.

  • I love his performance.

But this is too fast for me.

  • A mon goût, la meilleure interprétation de celles que j'ai entendues ici sur YouTube,

faut dire qu'elles ne sont pas nombreuses lol.

Voir tout de même ce jeune garçon, Olivier Altdorf je crois, étonnant, non ?

  • (Please forgive me to write in English.)

Yes! I've seen him (Olivier Altdorf) on YouTube. I'm very looking forward to see him in "proper orchestration" !!

  • why are you commenting in French?

  • @carrives

Someone wrote a comment in French and I thought it would only be decent to reply in French. If you would like to know what I said, I could repeat it in English. :)

  • haha noo thanks, i understand it, i was just wondering... but now i see the comment you were responding to so it makes more sense now that you wrote in French

  • @Kerlerot DON'T YOU MEAN MDR, FAGGOT?

  • wow

  • yoyo is AMAZING. HUGE fan!

  • I saw Yo-Yo do this at a concert. He is the most amazing cellist.

  • I am sooooo jealous!!

  • Thanks for posting. This is marvellous, real medicine for the soul.
