In 1805 Dessalines recruited American and German armorers from Philadelphia: Under sharp presure from Napoleon (and in return for his support in the U.S. dispute with Spain over West Florida). That would be the beginning of many ambargo's to come in Haiti's future.

Thank You as well. I am an African-American who went to school in Newark NJ in the early 80's. In my high school there was a large migration of haitains. They were constantly harassed by the other students. I did not know what a haitan was but what I observed still holds true. They want to get a long with you but if you want WAR they are ready. I wish I had known then there rich history and genesis for that mentality.
