I can't say I dislike it. An experiment, yes, experimental, not quite. The chords are very common in contemporary music, you can twist it up here and there to whack it out of its repetition, it's okay. You could venture away from the garage band sound by investing in logic or pro tools to help you steer clear of looping a loosely played guitar sound. A little deliberation can really support you when you choose your sounds and help give you a direction when emoting your mix. You can even record
@TheSpoonCollectors Bare in mind, this video is 4 years old and was one of the first things I ever put on YouTube. I was quite happy to be making these sounds in the first place. I would strum my guitar and hear my heros come out of my headphones. It made me happy. So yeah, you're right, it's an extraordinarily basic and amateur recording, but it was never supposed to really be more than that. :)
@mantra3000 I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "insist" but the guitar is detuned on purpose. Sonic Youth is the reason I ever picked up a guitar in the first place, and while my own style is some what mellow in comparison, my own methodology in creating music was developed by listening to Thurston and Lee make amazing sounds without being confined within "tunings". In fact, I don't even remember this tuning, I'd have to go back and look at my notes.
@alskdorivndhfkhyeer yeah i know, but it's just so similar to the cranberries song considering the instruments used and the time signature and everything... even the key.
I'm not saying it's bad or unoriginal. I want some hot chocolate.
@JamesMajdali Yeah, you know, it's interesting. There was no intentional Cranberries influence here, but I've gone and listened to Zombie again and it's pretty dead on. Good ear. As far as the actual chord progression itself, it's really pretty basic. Maybe the songs we like as kids get buried in our subconscious and re-express themselves later when we then begin to make music. Either way it's a pretty flattering comparison. :)
Hello, I'm working on a shoegaze album right now, and I have two demos up on YouTube, if you're interested search in Loosid-Edge of time. Tell me how you like it.

Well done, very peaceful, excellent use of reverb and effects. The tuning you have though I believe really adds to the effect.

Nice production ideas here. I couldn't insist enough on the importance of tuning though.

Get this music together and make a demo, all you need is a middle and an end and this would be a perfect song!
