  • is this song sampling horses's footsteps?

  • @judenihal no Its called Messin Around version 3. There's two versions of the song. Version (2) and Version (3).

  • The only record where the great Johnny Dodds plays an Alto sax

  • @Bumblebee38

NOT ONLY alto sax Dodds !

There is also COME BACK SWEET PAPA and some others

  • @TITOMARTINO

As a discographer I have never heard of those titles. SORRY

  • 'S wonderful!!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • A singer is Trixie Smith. And listen very well... the first ensamble contains an Alto Sax, performed by Johnny Dodds, a rare oportunity to hear him with this instrument

  • Fantastic, nearly forgotten records. wonderful music who ever plyed this magnificent cornet!

  • This might help too.

    Arthur Campbell Piano

    Johnny Dodds Clarinet

    Papa Charlie Jackson Vocals

    Freddie Keppard Cornet

    Jasper Taylor Wood Blocks

    Eddie Vincent Trombone

    7/26/26

  • cemmi2

I thought it was might be Roy Palmer on trombone, but accept that you are probably right.

    Thank you for your info.

  • Sorry ........but he is not right !

The trombonist is possibly Albert Wynn and the trumpetist probably NOT Keppard and the Band is Jimmy Blythe and his Ragmuffins with vocals by Trixie Smith

  • Your line up is the one for Freddie Keppard' s Jazz Cardinals only !!!!!!

  • Track 1 is Messin' Around. Johnny Dodds is the clarinettist on this track, but there's some question as to whether it is Keppard heard here, although the playing seems consistent with that heard on tracks 2 & 3: Stockyard Strut and Salty Dog.
