is the co2 ppks the true size of the real firearm? i heard the handle is slightly longer due to the fitting of the co2 cartridge... please let me know.
i hope it's the true size because i really like the figure of co2.
How do you like the pistol? I am considering buying one. Do you feel comfortable carrying a .380? Like do you feel comfortable with its power? Is the gun reliable? The one I am looking at is $600. Is that too much? My name's Mike if you wouldn't mind getting back to me. PM or whatever. Thanks.
A comment about those "heavy" or rough DA triggers. It's the best thing that you could have on a carry pistol. As a legally trained individual with 50 years of experience with handguns, I can only indicate that accidents happen too easily under stress. Michigan deputy just plead guilty to accidentally shooting a man with a certain polymer pistol.
One thing about the PPK and PPK/s pistols made in the last 2 years or so: most of them have been recalled. Check out the S&W website. I would agree that osem of the triggers and decocking levers are a little rough, but S&W will correct this for free. I have dozens of pistols and consider the PPK/s in stainless one of the best pocket pistols; it's small, flat, easy to shoot (you think it has recoil?). The .380 will do an adequate job for defense; so will my PPK/s in 22lr.
PPK Recoil: I've found the recoil (.380ACP version) to be uncomfortably "snappy". It really is a sharp hit. Not hard, just sharp. After several mags it begins to really irritate the small bones in my hands (and I've got great big 'ol man hands). A full-size 1911 is MUCH more comfortable to me. Also, the DA trigger is among the worst I've ever felt. SA not too bad. And those tiny little sights? Have to disagree with you there, they're too small. I do like the dovetail rear sight though.
It is a sharp recoil. (the guy in this video really did a good job)
I am surprised you don't like the trigger. Is it too stiff? Mine is very stiff in DA but it is very predictable. The SA is the best out of box trigger I have amongst all my pistols. Pretty light but mostly VERY smooth. I cannot believe how accurate I am even with the teeny sights on this little bugger.
Yeah, for a .380 this thing hits your hand like catching a Nolan Ryan baseball. Not that I've ever caught one of those. DA trigger makes me want to run to the bathroom and vomit...a scraping, sticking, uneven 12lbs. or something. SA is not too bad at all, pretty crisp, but I've felt better. Yeah no problem with accuracy...I think it's a combination of the small sights and weight. Nice chatting w/ you. -Pyrotrons
yea I agree with you, I've never shot the ppk, but I have to say the 1911. Even though it is .45acp, I find it very comfortable to shoot, and I've shot plenty of glocks, sigs, springfield, etc. But I always have a place for the 1911, and the only thing I don't like about it is the standard 7 round magazine. But hell, one of my teachers back in high school used to tell me "if you can't hit the guy in 7 shots, your already in trouble."
Gavrilo Princip used a Browning 1910 to cap Ferdinand, the serial number was one of these four: 19074, 19075, 19120, and 19126. No-one knows which. Since the 1910 came in either .32 or .380, it seems likely that the assassins would have used the larger calibre.
As to a .32 ending WW2: bollocks, all it did was end Hitler's worthless life. If anything, it was the Russians closing in with a 7.62x54mmR with his name on it that made him kill himself.
yes techinacly it did end world war two but it could have been done with any gun like the main side arm for the german military at that time the walther p38 9m. But he used his own smaller gun the walther ppk 7.65m round aka .32m only because that was his gun custom made for him he could of made a p38 or a colt 45. but he decided to make a newer model the walther ppk be his side arm
the .32acp ( auto colt pistol) for those of you who dont know, is a remarkable cartridge. It was back in the old days what the 9mm luger is today. and these so called "PRO" gun experts should know that even a .22 long rifle round can kill with one shot, its all round placement.
Yes, but why would you use it when you can use something better? If a .32 can kill if you put it in the perfect spot but a .380 kills anywhere center of mass, who the hell would want a .32?
the first world war was started by an assassin using a .32 round, one shot killed archduke ferdinand, 1 shot killed his wife, both instantly, WW1 cost millions of lives, thanks to a .32 round. the .32 round ended WW2 in europe, Hitler put a .32 round through his head.
if the .32 was so crap (as suggested by "pro" gun users)then why the hell would such massive historical events be influenced by such "pathethic" ammunition which incidentally, killed in 1 shot!!!
The .32 round didnt end the war in europe really i mean the Soviets were a mere 500 meters from where Hitler was hidding, but i dont think they are saying that the .32 caliber wont kill with one shot they are probally implining that a basic defense/offensive pistol round should be more powerful, i like the .32 round though
"You are never supposed to pull out a firearm unless you are going to fire it..."
The truth is most situations involving thugs are brought under control by the mere sight of a gun. The majority of these encounters end without a shot being fired. You should pull out your gun if the situation calls for it and the event may resolve then and there. You should also be able to recognise when pulling the trigger becomes necessary.
Don't even carry a gun unless you are fully prepared to not only use it, but to accept the consequences for using it. With that said, if I feel my life is in danger or my family's life, I will use any and all means at my disposal to end that danger, thats why I own guns. If I dont have to shoot, I won't. If I do, I'd rather have one and not need it, than need one and not have one.
My PPKS has always seemed a little harsh. Pachmeyer grips haven't helped. Of course, I ain't that great a shot anyway. But it seems like it would be a nice concealed carry piece.
the best concealable weapon i have fits large hands well 7 rounds in the clip plus one in the chamber small and not bulky like most revolvers safty right where you want it breaks down in 5 secons like the glock i love it and it fits right behind my nutz!
I own a ppk/s stainless. Great conceal weapon. As far as stopping power it certainly is not a 45, but if the right hollow points are used it will stop most anyone. Especially within 15 ft.
Is the .380 powerful? In comparison to other loads, no. With the proper loading, namely a bullet 95 grains and a good hollow point, its enough to do the job if need be, but these days, their are pistols the PPK and PPK/s size that are in 9mm, .357SIG, .40 and .45ACP that are better suited for defense of one's self.
powerful? No, it fires a .380 which is considered the bare minimum for personal defense. A little weaker than a 9mm parabellum. The pistol itself is very reliable eating any kind of ammo you feed it with no hesitation. Short barrel and short sight radius mean this pistol is best used up close and very personal. Next to no recoil however given the tameness of a .380 combined with the weight of a steel frame pistol
Is it only me that finds this sentence shocking? That someone needs a gun against an unarmed subject? Pistol whip him if you have to, threaten him but would you really shoot him?
"Is it only me that finds this sentence shocking? That someone needs a gun against an unarmed subject?"
An unarmed subject can still kill you. Imagine a 30 year old ex-pro boxer 6' and 250 lbs. versus a 70 year old grandma. Killed with bare hands is not such a distant possibility. Those who can obviously physically overpower you and have already demonstrated the willingness to do so despite knowing that you have a gun in your hand need to be shot.
@Roamingeast How do you think James Bond's 7.65mm version would hold up in real life combat? Would he have to empty the clip into the guy's head to successfully waste him?
Is yours an Interarms or S&W made gun? I'm trying to decide between the two..

Mabombs-I have a PPK/s chambered in 22lr; it's not very common in that caliber but they did make them that way.

You can get them in .22, but most are in .32 and .380.
