No one really knows except Pier and Jimmy. It is quite possible that he liked both women and men, and that he could of just been bisexual, or that could just be a bad rumor that some crazy guy who was in love with him started! But I do in fact believe that he was in love with Pier.

Ok, but it comes down to the fact Pier says and more then once she loved him. She couldnt stay married to Vic or her second husband because she would be dreaming of Jimmy and she couldnt love either of her husbands the way she should because of her love for Jimmy. Her death could easely been an acident I believe that it was an acident . I also believe she loved Jimmy. She was vary young and made a big mistake. I can relate.

According to Bill Bast..Jimmy and Piers romance was a publicity stunt and at lest on Jimmys part he wasnt madly in love with Pier. They would go to a event alone and hook up and leave alone. Plus Piers mom wouldnt let her out of her sight. Well, I have to qustion this for servel reasons....Here are two..if they had no real alone time then how did Jimy take pictures of Pier they were published in a book a few years ago. Also many years latter Pier stated Jimmy was her onr true love.

She seems to come off as a sorta-niusance,(sounding like he just wants her to shut up) (I haven't seen the rest of the movie to interpret, especially if james f. gave a more tempered and closed off version of james dean) In this scene alone it looks like the relationship relies on 2 things, sex and physical attraction. Thanks! My generation knows Angeli from childhood, but this scene surprised me enough to search more about her. My vision about the whole history changed. Now I am disappointed about JD making some marketing among his friends with his feelings about her. He was not genuine at all. He died and did not know how terrible it was to her to handle the media. He would not wish that. Bast should come out with his history 40 years before. It was always very comfortable for him.

Well, the movie does state that nothing was for sure about their interpretation, but him and Liz Sheridan were the only two women in his life that he was that close to marrying. So yes, he was VERY in love with Pier. A lot of biographies have their story.

Yeah it's very well documented. She was beautiful and they made such a lovely couple. But Bill Bast, a best friend of Jimmy's, said in a book released last year that it was strictly "publicity" and that Jimmy was more-less into guys. Interesting story to say the least.

@kadeshow I am a huge James Dean fan, like huge i have read and seen everything about him- I am sure they had to speculate what happened because both jim & Pier are dead, i do however know that other friends of his has said that he was known to hit woman when he was really drunk but I dont think that was his personality sober as for Pier and Jimmy i believe as you do their dating was a publicity stunt put on by the studio
