@mikygim the first bit of your statement is true the second bit isn't though. He used a "trick incandescent bulb" of the sort you get in joke shops not an energy saving bulb

To make the bulb light in exactly the way shown you need an electric current from somewhere. My guess is that there is a small power source inside the bulb itself.

That's an easy one: The bulb is just an old bulb, the bag is a vacuum bag... *bang*. (small bulb's do not break that easy...) The Table was prepared with high-voltage. / He has a little thin wire to move the bulb. - So then they are fooled to "believe" it is true believe... but it's not ;)

Box thing, those are people who are susceptible to pleasing the speaker / director. ( Like everyone ). Plus he didn't let them get up too high before he would say put it down.

Light bulb: 1) magnetic under table. 2) Static electricity around the stage. ( see Nikola Tesla ). 3) Bag clip was some sort of vacuum. Imploding the light bulb.

Without knowing the facts (and without having read more than the first page of comments), I'm guessing that the bulb was moved (rolled on the table) using a thin wire held by Derren's hands. The bulb lighting up could easily be a laser or similar beam (note how the bulb was the "frosted" variety, as a beam wouldn't work with a clear, unfrosted bulb). I don't know enough about physics to even begin to guess how he broke it. Then again, I don't know whether my speculations are even remotely valid.

Actually, if you know anything about Derren Brown you'd know right off the bat that he's professed on numerous occasions, including in his own publications, that psychic powers are rubbish and have yet to be revealed to him in a way that would illicit any kind of viability or belief.

@Mattamatics1 Yes Enigma was filmed over two nights about 3 months back, I went and saw the show twice in Birmingham. I believe it was filmed in Wimbledon, London and if Derren's schedule is the same as last year, I would look out for it in September that's when Channel 4 in the U.K usually release it. I got to speak to him too - nice chap, nice to chat too and good taste in hats too of the flat cap variety (Elizabeth Duke I believe) - very posh !

You know what? I found something I don't like about Derren Brown. That "magnets in her bra" thing? He showed that same clip and told that same joke in his Enigma show. He recycles his jokes so much!

Derren manages to take even the simplest bits of well-used magic and work them into an act that holds your rapt attention. The wordplay with that lightbulb bit was wonderful.
