Love this song. And the movie was beautiful... Does anyone know if it was written for the movie or if it already existed? Just curious... it's very fitting
the fact that most people who said the film was shit put these 'XD' faces in their comments says that they were probably too brainless to watch the film in the first place... story was good, cinematography was awesome, acting was brilliant. also well done to Sean Durkin on on writing and directing his first ever film. if you've not seen it, I'd say deff give the film a chance!
@TaAl1990 i didnt really get the whole cult thing, they all have sex with eachother, and he gets to rape the women, (leader guy) and its meant to be cleansing them or something? what was all that about?
@clarepies I got the cult thing, but the film was really unsatisfactory. I didn't expect it to be conclusive or anything, it just had much more to give...and didn't.
@TaAl1990 the majority of the public (more specifically the American public) are too stupid to understand films like Martha Marcy May Marlene. They prefer to watch movies (action, rom coms, chick flicks ect.). It is sad that films like these are not fully appreciated. There is a difference between movies and books vs films and novels. Not many people are educated enough to enjoy the latter.
@6TheMorgan6 I agree with the statement fully. Most of my friends won't even good these types of films a chance. Same goes for music. There is radio crap and then artist music. Artistic music goes with film and novels, not at all appreciated.
@peetamell4rk Unfortunately, because it's a cover, it won't qualify for Best Original Song. But this is an amazing cover, and agree that John Hawkes is stunning.
This is absolutely the perfect song for this movie! Marcy's song is dark and mysterious, yet, beautiful, but overall I needed more from the movie, although all the actors did a very good job, i just don't think the movie was all that it could be.
John Hawkes really deserves an Oscar. Guy is an incredibly underrated talent,. but it seems like he's finally starting to get some recognition and exposure. This really was a great scene!
it's in drop D. intro is Dm with descending bass line f e d. verse is something like Dm7/F, C, Dm. then it goes to C with the hammer-on on the D string at the end of the verse. hope that helps. by the way this movie is amazing
this song is in the trailer for this movie which is playing in the theater I am working at. It gets stuck in my head and I sing the one section over and over again.
I think this is gut punchingly haunting. John Hawkes really is an amazingly talented bloke. Does anyone no where or even if this available to download anywhere yet? This version that is, not the Jackson C. Frank one??
this is the only time in the movie i understood why they were all there

@6TheMorgan6 i think it was just dull, its a film it has nothing to do with education.

@clarepies fair enough, but this is a great film. It may appear dull to those who dont understand it.

This movie would be so much better if John Hawkes was in it more. He is such a terrific actor but he was waisted in this. If you have him, use him
