What pellet gun do you use? I saw a video of you hunting rabbits and it took magazines? Could you give me some good info on it so I can buy one? Thanks mate.
@melvinvswaldo I have two air rifles one is a BSA super 10 mk2 which is not made any more and the other is a Theoben MFR made by (Theoben Ltd) they have a website with a whole range of air rifles.
Nice shooting! I cannot believe we have no magpies east of the Mississippi river though and in fact, in western Nebraska is about where they start to be seen ?
@1996JackDavies Any air rifle at the UK limit of 11-12ft/lb of energy should be fine for a max range of 35-40 yards, but the real limit is the farthest range you can still group all your pellets into an inch at.
@MaximusStimulus Well any wood pigeons i take i keep to eat but i don't eat any of the crows or magpies as they aren't a very clean bird feeding on any rubbish they find so i keep a few to use as decoys on other hunts and discretely place the rest into a thick hedge for the foxes to have.
hey again how would you measure the lb/ft of your gun and how would i get a crow to come into a open space so i could kill it, its not nice been waken up at 6 in the morning on a weekend
You've seriously carved your own niche here. Its like watching a television documentary with detailed commentary for hunting with air rifles.

@SuperDixxxie I usually take a wee break this time of year but the hunting bug is starting to bite again so i,l have to get out again soon, but i'm still practicing away to keep my eye in.
HuntersVermin is my new HERO lol... Many thanks for taking us on your hunting trips and sharing your cracking field craft skills. Watching your great clips (for 2 hours) coupled with your dry sense of humor made me regret selling my Rapid 7 a couple of years ago and to once again bare arms and cull some vermin lol. Please keep your REALLY WELL shot clips comin. Many thanks and safe hunting... Dene.
@kennysteez I,d go for a .22cal air rifle so with 495fps and the bigger pellet you will have about 8.6ft/lb of energy which should do the job but keep the range down to 20-25 yards.
Every now and again you mention using a range finder.
Ive been looking into them, which one do you use as it seems fairly accurate.
I have a Air Arms S510 which deffinatly has the power and accuracy for upto 65 yards (tryed and tested and successfull). I only reason I knew it was 65 yards is it's the width of the field and the farmer showed me the layout of his connecting fields. I still find it difficult judging distances on mildots. I range in at 35 yrds do you have any tips on mildots
@toffeeonsound Yes i use a Bushnell scout 1000 range finder that i got on sale some years ago and it is more useful than anything else i have used as high powered range finding scopes are only accurate out to 55 yards or so and i find milldots are too far apart for the small ranges i use that and i like to shoot on 6x power and mildots are usually set at 10x power.
My scope is only a cheap and cheerfull 3-9x52 mag with mildots so I have to worked out approx distances using the mildots.
Obviously i still get it wrong and by the time i work it out the target has normally moved on.
I am slowly setting myself up with decent gear so will probbably be asking you more questions later as you really seem to know what your doing and what works and what doesn't.
@toffeeonsound I started out with a simple 4x40 scope with no mil-dots so had to learn to judge range by eye which takes practice but is the fastest way if you can do it.
What type of sight are you using? And one more question: can I kill, for example, a crow sitting 120 meters far from me with my Walter Dominator 4.5 28j? p.s. sorry for my bad english =)
@Dan325rus I,m not sure, i wouldn't take the shot as the pellet will have lost 76% of its energy and it will have dropped 83.5 cm and if there is any wind at all it will miss by a mile, its a very very long shot for an airgun. I am using an old Tasco 4.5-18x50 Big Horn scope.
@HuntersVermin i use umarek's with a sharp point, if i'd use the ones you use, would they shoot further and still kill a bird ? cause i have a fwb 300s so it has some trouble shooting at long range birds
@Stinsels Probably not, they may be more accurate but there won't be much difference in power as that depends on the air rifles power source not the pellet.
do you need a licence to own a PCP air rifle as i want the FX Royal 400 but want it to be very powerful, and online it askes if i want the UK or foreign (more powerful version0 please help or just direct me in the right direction.
@ThePhan7em In the UK you need a licence (FAC) for any air rifle with over 12ft/lb of energy weather its a spring or pcp powered gun, but in Northern Ireland you need a licence for any air rifle no matter what power it is.
@HuntersVermin That really sucks brother. I wish you didn't have to go through all that bs. You should take a trip here to the States and go hunting with me. I really respect how as a hunter you have such a wonderful respect for nature. That is the true spirit of the hunter. ive watched these videos for a while now, there amazing. i own a air rifle websly hawk which dose the job ... sort of ... so i was wonder if i were to upgrade to a different gun just for hunting what would u suggest ... i should also do a video about that
@NoobGroupGamers Well if you are happy with spring guns theres the Webley Stringray ii Quattro, BSA supersport or lightning, Weihrauch Hw95k or the underlever HW97k or Airairms TX200 bit more expensive but very accurate.
@clarky4492 My super 10 is running at about 14ft/lb in .22cal and the Theoben MFR at about 30ft/lb also in .22cal but i use the lower powered BSA mostly for around farm yards. I have shot a .177 Pro Sport once and was impressed with how accurate it was compared with my pcp rifles, so maybe some day i will get one if i can get it on my licence.
good video ive watched them all i go shooting alot some people dont realise you cant always take perfect shots wind can be misjudged, ur vids kick ass btw
I've been following your videos for a while now and have picked up some great tips along the way. As soon as I get my weihrauch back from hull cartridge I'm going to go maggie and crow hunting to help out some of our new born lambs. What, in your opinion is the best method of camouflaging the rifle?
@nlloyd85 Glad you've enjoyed the videos. I camouflage the end of my guns barrel with ether cammo tape or cut a piece off one of those camouflage Gun Socks and pull it over the end of the barrel so the birds wont see it sticking out of the hide so easily.
im just waiting on my fac ticket and your uploads are very helpful they make me want to get outside and go hunting, which would you say is the best approach to adopt for hunting rabbits over large fields with little cover with a 22lr, static in a hide or roaming with a lamp, i trust any answer you may give because it is clear you know your stuff cheers mate
@mrbozwellblue Hi ya, i would try both those techniques as they are both good ways to deal with rabbits. Once the rabbits start to get lamp shy at night you can switch to the static hunt and sit and wait for them to come out of their borrows a few hours before dark.
Do you reckon a Webley and Scott Osprey (9.5 fps) is enough to take a Magpie at 40 yards? I'm having trouble also because the scope is old and difficult to zero in
another great vid hunter! i have made my first vid of two magpies i shot i will put a vid response for you to see, but what i would would like to know is why do magpies and crows go bazerk when you shoot their mates? because i shot a crow and the other one went apeshit and the next morning he was back in the same tree at 6:00am but he came back mob handed their was about 8 of them outside my house screaming woke everyone up in my road and to be honest it was quite intimidating lol
@dannyjw123 Intimidating is just the right word as crows and magpies don't like other predators so when you shoot one the rest go clean mad and try to mob or chase the predator away, like they do with birds of prey, foxes or a cat, but they usually clear off very quickly when they spot a gun.
@CPMgaming I haven't tried the pba pellets as i don't think that they are available in the UK but at 1200fps in .177 from the big cat they will diffidently bring down a rabbit cleanly with a head shot.
@billybob16000 Yes it should be powerful enough to take a rabbit cleanly with a head shot at that range if it is as powerful as Gamo say it is and you can shoot accurately enough with it.
@anilbobbili couldnt agree with you more! if he put all of his vids together it would make for one of the greatest hunting DVDs money could buy! this man has great skill and could easly make a career and plenty of money out of doing somthing which he clearly has a passion for! i always look forward to seeing HuntersVermin's new uploads more than any.
@pothead1004 Sorry no i don't think that i have tried them as we have to take what is available as there isn't much of a selection here in Norther Ireland as last while.
Hey! Greets again from Mexico. Another wonderful video. I have some questions since a long time ago. What is the type of the camera that you have mounted on your rifle? and how do yo film at the same time you are shooting?. See you...
@MasterLeonidass I use a JVC 330 camcorder one with a hard drive memory, filming and shooting at the same time is not very easy at times as i have to wait till i get the target on camera and zoomed in before i take the shot, ether by having the camcorder mounted on my gun and rested over something or by using a tripod.
hi, great vid once again, what pellets were you using and would they be alright in a break barrel air rifle, im still looking for the perfect pellet, i have found the rws super fields are pretty good in my air rifle but a lot of them get damaged because they are not very strong,
@verminhunter264 I was using AirArms field diabolo pellets, they might work in a break barrel rifle but i have also noticed some damaged ones in the box as well.
@RDPproject There is only one good way and thats to dress smartly (no cammo) go to the farmers door and polity ask him if you can shoot vermin on his land with your air rifle, and if they say no don't get mad but thank him for his time and go look somewhere else as you never no he might change his mind and ask you back. When you do get somewhere look after your shoot and the farmers buildings and livestock and he might recommend you to other farmers like the farm i shoot over here.
@RDPproject Hv beat me to it but as he said you can try face to face. Also farm hands can be a good foot in the door. Other shooters you know in your area can point you to farms/small holders who are friendly to air gun hunters. Also contact via email or letter is another way. As always be polite, dress normally(no full camo) and always thank them for their time if they refuse. Get your insurance sorted to boot.
Another great video. The two Magpie's that ended up beside each other were very clean shots. Reckon that one that flew away would have dropped sooner if it had not been for the wind. It was more than likely dead before it hit the ground. Great work!
@CallawayERC Yes i have seen this happen before with pigeons as well on windy days, if the bird gets its wings open they act like a para-shoot and can glide some distance.
the " heart & lung* shoot is my favourite method of shooting the birds!! only in good conditions i'm opt for a shot in the head !! great vid mate .... as always !! :))
sorry mate i didnt mean to sound sarcastic, what i ment was you are a responsable shooter to go and chack what youve shot outhers would have just thought so what its just vermin not knowing what impact it has on outher wildlife, againe mate sorry for the misunderstanding, john
@bigjohntightlips No no thats fine, i always like to try and find what i have shot, not only to make sure its dead and not suffering but also to keep my shot tidy.
Another top video - yours are the best air rifle hunting videos on You Tube. I also like your honesty in showing when you miss the odd one. As i have already posted, could you pluck a magpie a little in your next video when you do a heart and lung shot to show the entry wound so be thanks.
@bigjohntightlips I doubt there would have been any lead in the magpie as the pellet would have passed straight thru the bird and carried on a little way further. Great video and to prove me right in the next time pluck one of the magpies a little to show both the entry and exit wound. I would be interested in seeing the entry wound is for the ideal heart and lung shot so I know where to aim when I am next on the magpies.
@daveno14 Yes i have had problems finding the right spot too for a good heart and lung shot, but now i aim for a spot about 1/2 inch below the top corner of the birds wing.
@bigjohntightlips Thanks and glad you enjoyed it, i'd say at that range the pellet would have come right through the bird leaving a clean carcase for the buzzard.
Good shooting. I had the same problems with the crows yesterday, took two out, and about 20 turned up screaming! Safe to say I wasn't going to waste an oppotunity and got 3 more!
@tg01millmorer You should never ever shoot .22 rimfire guns into trees.People use air rifles for safety reasons as pellets soon loose their velocity and fall to ground much sooner than rimfires etc.
@MyNameAintEarl270 I have a .22 rimfire too and personally i don't use it for firing into trees i use my air rifles for that as i also shoot grey squirrels.I feel more comfortable using the rimfire for rabbits with a substantial back drop though i use my air rifles on rabbits too including my 30FT LB FIREARM RATED AIR ARMS S410.
@tg01millmorer Well an air rifle is a much safer tool to use around farm yards as they are far less powerful than a rim fire and there for the bullet will travel less of a distance, plus there is less likely hood of causing any real damage to farm buildings with a 12ft/lb air rifle compared to 100ft/lb rim fire. And i would never shoot into a tree top with a rim fire as i have no idea where that bullet is going to come down at, but for ground targets were you have a backstop they're fine.
Well done once again taking out the magpies. Now that the nesting season is not too far away it makes it all the more important to control corvids so their intended food source of birds eggs and young nestlings from song and ground nesting birds have a chance to hatch and fledge bearing in mind many of their intended victims are rapidly declining in numbers.I know it is not purely down to crows, magpies etc but believe me they do have a catostrophic effect on successful breeding and rearing.
@waceygeorge12 Thank you.

ok, thanks man keep up the great work.
CPMgaming 11 months ago
What do you think of a Gamo Big Cat with pba ammo for rabbit, love your vids btw.
CPMgaming 11 months ago
@CPMgaming I haven't tried the pba pellets as i don't think that they are available in the UK but at 1200fps in .177 from the big cat they will diffidently bring down a rabbit cleanly with a head shot.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
keep the vids coming thanks
cojak3375 11 months ago
@cojak3375 I'l try.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
@billybob16000 Yes it should be powerful enough to take a rabbit cleanly with a head shot at that range if it is as powerful as Gamo say it is and you can shoot accurately enough with it.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
Keep making the good vid

@mrderickman Thanks, i'l try.

Hey HunterVermin.
Good shootin for a windy day, Are these birds good eating ?... or just a pest bird.
Cheers.
66yurt 11 months ago
@66yurt I really wouldn't eat them as they are not a very clean bird and will eat anything they come across and could carry diseases.

pothead1004 11 months ago
btw have you ever tried webley hustler pellets as i have never had any bad or damaged in the tin. they are tough pellets and not bad at 14,3 grains
pothead1004 11 months ago
@pothead1004 Sorry no i don't think that i have tried them as we have to take what is available as there isn't much of a selection here in Norther Ireland as last while.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago

Hey! Greets again from Mexico. Another wonderful video. I have some questions since a long time ago. What is the type of the camera that you have mounted on your rifle? and how do yo film at the same time you are shooting?. See you...
MasterLeonidass 11 months ago
@MasterLeonidass I use a JVC 330 camcorder one with a hard drive memory, filming and shooting at the same time is not very easy at times as i have to wait till i get the target on camera and zoomed in before i take the shot, ether by having the camcorder mounted on my gun and rested over something or by using a tripod.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
hi, great vid once again, what pellets were you using and would they be alright in a break barrel air rifle, im still looking for the perfect pellet, i have found the rws super fields are pretty good in my air rifle but a lot of them get damaged because they are not very strong,
thanks.
verminhunter264 11 months ago
@verminhunter264 I was using AirArms field diabolo pellets, they might work in a break barrel rifle but i have also noticed some damaged ones in the box as well.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
@HuntersVermin kk thanks, i will give them a go :)
verminhunter264 11 months ago
How do you get permission to shoot on the farmers property?
Do you advertise or go door knocking?
Rob.
RDPproject 11 months ago
@RDPproject There is only one good way and thats to dress smartly (no cammo) go to the farmers door and polity ask him if you can shoot vermin on his land with your air rifle, and if they say no don't get mad but thank him for his time and go look somewhere else as you never no he might change his mind and ask you back. When you do get somewhere look after your shoot and the farmers buildings and livestock and he might recommend you to other farmers like the farm i shoot over here.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
@RDPproject Hv beat me to it but as he said you can try face to face. Also farm hands can be a good foot in the door. Other shooters you know in your area can point you to farms/small holders who are friendly to air gun hunters. Also contact via email or letter is another way. As always be polite, dress normally(no full camo) and always thank them for their time if they refuse. Get your insurance sorted to boot.

@Ghostmaker1970 Thanks Ghost maker glad that you enjoyed it.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
Another great video. The two Magpie's that ended up beside each other were very clean shots. Reckon that one that flew away would have dropped sooner if it had not been for the wind. It was more than likely dead before it hit the ground. Great work!
CallawayERC 11 months ago
@CallawayERC Yes i have seen this happen before with pigeons as well on windy days, if the bird gets its wings open they act like a para-shoot and can glide some distance.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
great vid but are u allowed to shoot birds and/or rabbits?
LinoxX1Xx 11 months ago
@LinoxX1Xx Yes rabbits, crows and magpies are considered vermin here in the UK and can be shot all year round.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
Excellent Hunting vid again pal keep it up :)

hatsan38 11 months ago
@hatsan38 Thank you, glad you liked the vid.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
sorry mate i didnt mean to sound sarcastic, what i ment was you are a responsable shooter to go and chack what youve shot outhers would have just thought so what its just vermin not knowing what impact it has on outher wildlife, againe mate sorry for the misunderstanding, john
bigjohntightlips 11 months ago
@bigjohntightlips No no thats fine, i always like to try and find what i have shot, not only to make sure its dead and not suffering but also to keep my shot tidy.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
Another top video - yours are the best air rifle hunting videos on You Tube. I also like your honesty in showing when you miss the odd one. As i have already posted, could you pluck a magpie a little in your next video when you do a heart and lung shot to show the entry wound so be thanks.
daveno14 11 months ago
@daveno14 Thank you, and yes i will try and do that the next time.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago

magpie307 11 months ago
@magpie307 Thank you.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
nice vid mate enjoyed it im glad the buzzard didnt get it the lead would have killed it if eaten, glad your a sensible shooter mate , cheers john
bigjohntightlips 11 months ago
@bigjohntightlips I doubt there would have been any lead in the magpie as the pellet would have passed straight thru the bird and carried on a little way further. Great video and to prove me right in the next time pluck one of the magpies a little to show both the entry and exit wound. I would be interested in seeing the entry wound is for the ideal heart and lung shot so I know where to aim when I am next on the magpies.
daveno14 11 months ago
@daveno14 Yes i have had problems finding the right spot too for a good heart and lung shot, but now i aim for a spot about 1/2 inch below the top corner of the birds wing.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
@bigjohntightlips Thanks and glad you enjoyed it, i'd say at that range the pellet would have come right through the bird leaving a clean carcase for the buzzard.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
always good to see your vids mate

Good shooting. I had the same problems with the crows yesterday, took two out, and about 20 turned up screaming! Safe to say I wasn't going to waste an oppotunity and got 3 more!
herpo14292 11 months ago
@herpo14292 Thanks, and good job on the crows.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
Just out of interest, why do you prefer to shoot with an air rifle rather than say a .22 rifle? Sorry if you've answered this in a previous video
tg01millmorer 11 months ago
@tg01millmorer You should never ever shoot .22 rimfire guns into trees.People use air rifles for safety reasons as pellets soon loose their velocity and fall to ground much sooner than rimfires etc.
JODIMAR45 11 months ago
@JODIMAR45 Its perfectly safe to do if you have a backstop behind your target. Its what I do when I'm squirrel hunting, because I use a .22 LR.
MyNameAintEarl270 11 months ago
@MyNameAintEarl270 I have a .22 rimfire too and personally i don't use it for firing into trees i use my air rifles for that as i also shoot grey squirrels.I feel more comfortable using the rimfire for rabbits with a substantial back drop though i use my air rifles on rabbits too including my 30FT LB FIREARM RATED AIR ARMS S410.
JODIMAR45 11 months ago
@tg01millmorer Well an air rifle is a much safer tool to use around farm yards as they are far less powerful than a rim fire and there for the bullet will travel less of a distance, plus there is less likely hood of causing any real damage to farm buildings with a 12ft/lb air rifle compared to 100ft/lb rim fire. And i would never shoot into a tree top with a rim fire as i have no idea where that bullet is going to come down at, but for ground targets were you have a backstop they're fine.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
@TRISTANJAYY Your welcome, glad you like it.
HuntersVermin 11 months ago
Well done once again taking out the magpies. Now that the nesting season is not too far away it makes it all the more important to control corvids so their intended food source of birds eggs and young nestlings from song and ground nesting birds have a chance to hatch and fledge bearing in mind many of their intended victims are rapidly declining in numbers.I know it is not purely down to crows, magpies etc but believe me they do have a catostrophic effect on successful breeding and rearing.
JODIMAR45 11 months ago
@JODIMAR45 Yeah the magpies and crows seem to have the upper hand as last while ag
