I followed all the steps (quadruple checked to make sure I did it right), but when I get to 3:15 (where you click "all networks") it doesn't show my ps3. It just shows the name of my computer over and over. :( Why isn't it working?

Firewalls are all off and I followed all the other steps. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard. Maybe something to do with my network card being a "N"?

Great video, however, my PS3 STILL will not show up on my network NO MATTER WHAT I DO! I've been trying EVERYTHING for HOURS! I've done everything in your video and it STILL is not showing up in the media streaming options. Even when switching to "all networks" the only thing that shows up is my computer. This video helped me out a lot. My videos, pictures and music are now connected wirelessly to my PS3. Bit laggy though for the video but at the very least my music library in my PC is now a resource for my PS3.

It used to work for me flawlessly, now my computer only shows the three windows 7 default songs on the ps3. The rest of my media library doesn't show up anymore. It's on a separate partition and shows up in my wmp12 library on the computer though.

@Samonosuke87 Make sure you have enabled Allow Media Streaming

To do so -

In Windows Media Player over the top left side you will find STREAM button.

Click on it and select Turn on Media Streaming. You may also enable other options.

I made a mistake I should had noticed since I upgraded to windows 7 my acct and my wife's acct were set up but I never set up the administrator acct, which means I didn't install windows media player in it nor had the media streaming turn on and the other stuff I had set up on the other 2 accts. Such an easy fix but I didn't noticed till today lol. Thanks for the help ymhatre :)

@MegaPs3killer The best option for you is to hook a external FAT32 formatted HDD to your PS3 and then copy all the items from PS3 to HDD.

Its not reversible or at least I am not aware of something like that.

If your ps3 don't show all the music then go on your PC and go to network and sharing center then get the unknown device. Go to customize and click off of default settings and then click let this device see all my things on WMP. Then it should be able to work properly

I also had a problem, by default windows media player was set to only show songs to he PS3 that were a certain start rating, meaning none of the pictures, video, or most of the music was showing.

To fix it go into WMP and go Stream > More Streaming options > Go to your PS3 > click customize > make sure it is set to "all ratings".

@DivineDragon0147 A simple answer to youwould be use .. PS3MedaiServer Application. The reason I use Windows Media Server is because the service itself is ran by Windows by default so I dont have to any of my RAM on any third party application.

There is nothing magical about this .. its simple way of indicating your PS3 to see your computer.

Just followed the instructions and only found the sample music available on my PS3. Tried a variety of things to get the rest of my music shared properly (including manually enabling sharing on all my drives - didn't work). If you're in my position, the best thing (well, the only thing that worked) was having the media library in the same location as the sample music that comes with the computer/OS. I'll check out the folder/drive settings for that location and perhaps report back.

Even with the firewall turned off no "unknown device" appears and the PS3 says "No media servers found." The PS3 is connected to the router and the internet with Firmware v3.61

Okay, so basically in order to access my itunes format music, i need to go through Computer/C/Users/Admin/MyDocum­ents/Frostwire/Saved to access them if I am finding their file location. But when at the "add" part if i follow the same path i do not see my itunes type files. Is that what you mean when files are in "Mac Partition"???

@gwallace12664 If you are using itunes on Windows then just point out to your Music where ever they are.

(They might be in iTunes folder in your My Documents under the Media depending upon the option that you have set in the preferences of itunes.)

If you are using itunes on Mac then do as I showed by going into Mac Partition.

@ymhatre im telling you, the FILES are located in that folder, as itunes files, the itunes library shows nothing, because i don't want 2 copies of each song, and they are all downloaded from frostwire and itunes just imports them, but i can't find them at all when i try to add them.

If your music is in .aac or .mp4 format (and not .mp3), im not sure that is supported by PS3 or not. I have to try that then.

@gwallace12664 For sake of testing purpose, lets save ONE Mp3 in a folder on your desktop. Now go ahead and add this folder to library from Windows Media Player.

Now ON your PS3 and test whether it works or not

@ymhatre Okay so what i did was find my music, grab it all, and put it in a folder on my desktop, if i opened that folder it showed no files, but i still accepted it as my source, and sure enough, it updated all my music, my ps3 suddenly found my network, and everything is good now, thanks!
