@nzadvicedog indeed al we got is training or recon/transport,just as well we got Australia ,Britain and ol Uncle Sam on our side aye.although our NZSAS arent to bad they would atleast give an invasion force a run for its money on the ground.
@88ABRAMS88 no they disbanded the fighter squadron around 2001 so NZ relies on australia and the US for fighter support during a war although kiwi pilots usually end up in the RAAF or the RAF so it doesnt really matter
@dilworth1234 The RNZAF main airshow this year is at Warbirds Over Wanaka - Although without the Red Checkers, theve called off the season after whats happened recently.
Whenuapai, judging by previous years should be next year sometime around March.
Nice vid man. Was a great show. Wish we had some F-18s, man it would send chills down my spine to hear those roaring around in the skies over Auckland....
I was about to ask you if you made it to the air show and then I saw this, LOL! Nice work! I've put all my photos and videos on Flickr, there's a link on my YouTube Channel page...
You did really well to capture so much footage at the expense of missing it in a way - as it does take concentration to film all that - nice work and good editing. The highlight must have been the f18,it gave me a similar feeling to when the music for Star Wars comes on at the picture theatre!Certainly having that sort of hardware must do a lot for the morale of the people on the ground.I got the feeling they were nursing the 757 seemed a little less wing flexing than previous show? Thanks again.
RE: the 757, it did abort its morning display due to a technical issue, so perhaps it was patched up and they decided to take it easy. Still bloody impressive i must say.
I guess i did miss some of the action in a way, but i like filming and i love film making.
I didnt film much of the warbirds this year, so i could get a real eye view of some of the action, same with the F18 vertical climbs and that impressive quick tight turn.
EVEYTHING is from other country's or the civil aviation. nz dont have jets thats how shit we r. its a mail service

good thing the australians always show up to our airshows. would be a bit lame otherwise. however the vampires are a cool old rig, love that whistle.
yogicolonial 2 years ago
Indeed - The vampire sounds fantastic. Not like that distorted roar of the F18 :P
SBPNZ 2 years ago
haha yeah, at least they have fast jets though eh? i'm waiting for national to get with the program and buy a squadron of gripens! lol
yogicolonial 2 years ago
Cost of running would be less as they wouldn't needs as extensive check for structural and corrosive damage.

absoultely amazing shots and displays, congratulations to all, especially the RNZAF display team, regards from Costa Rica!
jsucka 2 years ago
We dont have an "aircraft carrier landing capapble jet".
I assume your talking about the RAAF F/A 18 that displayed.
Even if New Zealand had AC capable jets (which it did until 2001) you dont need an aircraft carrier to operate them.
