No actually what grants Mizuchi his powers is the fragmented spirit of Orochi inside him..and it becomes complete at his ending..so..yep it is OROCHI

But Mizuchi uses snow and water elements, his name reffers to this (Mizu = Water). While Orochi uses Gaia (nature as source of power) and psychic powers. They're both very intriguing.

i agree. In Neo Geo Battle Coliseum Mizuchi often uses tadasu and harae which seems not to have the same color and design as Orochi's attacks are.

Mizuchi is so cheap in Neo Geo. He always spams tadasu and Harae But with Goodman on me he always gets pwned.

You have a good point, friend. But the connection between Mizuchi & Orochi's names is: "Orochi" (the full fledged entity) means "serpent" (as in the ancient Japanese legends he is based from), while "Mizuchi" (the clone) means "salamander", thus reflecting that Mizuchi is but a minor copy of the original.

Doesn't prevent him to obtain extremely high powers, though.^^

@ProbeNexus That's right. Also, there seems to be indeed a entity from the Japanese myth called "Mizuchi" (蛟) . His appearance was of a was a dragon of water deity. This makes you think again about Mizuchi's intriging origins, though SNK-Playmore clearly stated in NBC that he was a "powerful clone of Orochi". But both are originally Japanese deities with the same status, if we look into Japanese mythology.

There's also another interesting thing on Mizuchi... both him and Orochi have distinct names for their special moves, but when Mizuchi uses his moves, he calls them by Orochi's names... such as naming his Kaijou projecile as "Harae", or his Rei/Ontai force fields as "Tadasu".

As an elf girl with a body of tentacles would say, "Funny, huh?"

(sorry for this last bizarre analogy)^^

Uhh, no. It's when he sticks his chest out to destroy/reflect projectiles (in NGBC: 632146 + Kick, or jump 214 + Punch)

The white light is "Marukake" (for Orochi) or "Kon" (Mizuchi)

I misspelled the name; it's "Marukare". Means "churning Chaos" or "Invading Chaos".

And a funny note: Orochi Chris' HSDM is "Sanagi wo Yaburi, Chou wa Mau" (Opened Chrysalid, Released Butterfly)... which is what Orochi says during this exact HSDM AND during his KOF 97 Intro Animation. Try hearing if you have time. ^_^

Orochi seems much better because he becomes invulnerable at the very moments he's launching his projectiles and pillars. And Mizuchi is supposed to be the original version.. this I don't agree, because storywise, Yamato No Orochi is an entity whose true form is of a giant eight headed snake. He doesn't use snow and water elements as source of power like Mizuchi ( Mizu = Water) does, but uses the power of light and nature as a mean to "clean up" the world from corrupted humans.

Well, you are right, according to Sintho mythology tath is the history. But remember that Orochi, Mizuchi is not the Yamato no Orochi of the leyend, is justa a a version of SNK based on the legend of Susano, keep in mind: NOT THE SAME GUY

There are different interpretations of Yamato No Orochi in many animes and games. SNK's Orochi is referred to as Yamato No Orochi from the japanese myths (converted a bit to fit the storyline), but he's basically the same myth. Check out Iori's ending from SVC Chaos, they show Orochi's real form for the first time.
