  • When did WGCL end? I grew up in Willard Ohio during the 1970's and listened to WQUAL and WGCL then. I don't think it's around anymore. I loved that station

  • @robbiesyohn WGCL flipped to classic rock as WNCX in Oct. 1986. 98.5 is still WNCX to this date. WQAL had a beautiful music format until 1990 when they switched to CHR. If you search "WGCL 1986" there is an aircheck from about a month before they flipped to WNCX.

I so agree. I loved Uncle Vic. I thought he had the sexiest voice. Boy was I disappointed when I saw the guy for the first time on The ghoul show. But I also liked Dancin' Danny.

wgcl g 98 was my favorite station from 1978 till 1984 when i had to leave cleveland, never went a day without listening to the station, loved DJ uncle vic - they also played american top 40 on sunday afternoons - which i kept track of constantly - this is when radio was great in cleveland. when cleveland lost wgcl 98.5 fm to wncx 98.5 - radio went dead. long live the memories of wgcl g 98.5 fm 216-578-0g98 CLEVELAND, OHIO. BRING THIS STATION BACK!

One of my best memories of WGCL was staying up late on new years eve for the top 100 songs of the year countdown.
