only documentary that has any semblance of truth is 'For the Record' but even that is manipulative....This one is lies...Ex this...Ex that....Ian Levine is a grade A twat...TT hated him...He was horrible and his mixes were horrible...TT had to steal his mix and give it to the Rappino Bro to mix...He was so angry...He's bitter...Listen to CIBM..you can clearly hear Howie's Lisp...Markie and Gaz's voice is obvious...Bitter people feeling hard done by..Rob was huge here...hence the bias towards him
Well, imagine a person earning his life professionally as a musician and singer since he was 14 years old, havind done all the work by himself, learning on his own, growing and becoming a professional after the hard work of many years... I think Gary did have a reason to want to be recognized. One of the albums was written by him in ten days while the rest were on holiday...
So,I watched part 1 of this, and started to read the coments after I paused this part at 4:40 when Ian Levine said that Jason couldn't sing. Since it seems that this is kinda anti TT and it just gonna make me "hate" Mr Levine, I'm gonna stop watching this cause just like a bad movie, I can see where this is going and I know it's not gonna be nice. I'm just gonna listen "Wooden boat" and enjoy it!!
A lot of people at RCA lost their jobs in 1991/2 because of the BMG take over... for that A&R head guy to blame TT for him losing his job is just delusional. Besides, he wasn't the one to sign them, Nick Raymonde was, and it wasn't a decision people above him thought was wise at the time! *shakes head* As For Ian Levine... the man wouldn't know reality if it smacked him in the face.
See, I knew there had to be a concrete reason I never really like Gary. I don't think he's really like that anymore, but he certainly used to be such a control freak little diva, UGH.
Never found this interview until now it's very hard to find on youtube it was in related videos. Love H's hair never seen it like that only in the early days! When was this??? Coz Mark's hair looks like it did in the late 90s. Jason and Gary haven't spoken in this yet! Shutup Ian you twat jason can sing!
I know imma get thumbs down but it is true, Robbie was always in the back, Gary was always in front and got all the attention, put yourself in Robbie's shoes, you didn't get to sing much, you're always in the back, when you could do as well as the other band members!
i think it speaks volums about the kind of tone the makers of this show were going for that they specifically only asked people who only worked with them for a very short time or who, in some semi related way, got fired...like the rca guy. it was probably thanks to him in a way that tt are still here given he kept giving them chances but it wasn't really heir fault that he got fired, yet he seems quite bitter about that.
well put. clearly he's still trying to use them to cling to a small piece of attention. he worked with them on one shit song. everyone hated him, and corect me if i'm wrong but isnt CIBM down to nigel wright? was it him that remixed it?
(+ i don't know this billy guy but it seems strange that tt can perform the song live and sound like it's supposed to.what, have they got him hiding behind a curtain ian?)
i take this with a pinch of salt. best bit's been simon cowells "made a mistake" bit
@scamrasc Yes. The released version of 'Could It Be Magic' was a complete remix that was different to the awful version Ian Levine produced, which you can still hear on the first album.
omg Jason is amazing singer xx This is the most biased and mean thing I have ever seen!! They are basically saying Robbie amazing and Take That suck!! =[ Wth xx I love Take That xx Robbie is nothing compared to them xx
@TakeThatFan77 Found this video just by chance. No, I wouldn't say Robbie is nothing compared to the other four. You could tell from the very start there was something special about him.
But you are right, the boys started from 0 and worked hard to get to where they are now.So it's unfair and mean to say that the rest of TT couldn't sing, Jason was a nuisance, one was sacked because of them etc. Now I understand a lot of things and maybe why Robbie left and the band dissolved a year later.
Omg what a load of rubbish to be honest! They can actually sing and Gary has won awards for is brilliant songwrtiting and been named the best singer/songwriter of all time! All that Ian levine does in that video is praise robbie and not the rest of them which isn't fair. Rest of them are very talented and honestly in my opinion Gary his a better singer than robbie! i am not just saying that because i am a Gary fan, It's true though! Love you Gary,Mark,Jason,Howard you proved you don't need rob!
All Take That have proved is that they can't do shit without each other. Gary Barlow needs some sort of entertainment value/personality to back up his voice, and the other three need some talented song writing.
Robbie has always been the biggest talent - he proved he could have a successful solo career, he has the charisma, the look, the stage presence, the talent, and he's carried it all off. His recent 'comeback' has proved that people still love him in spite of his personal demons.
Originally Robbie was also supposed to sing lead on 'Relight My Fire', but they spent days with him in the studio and he just couldn't nail the track.
@laragreen123 Wooden Boat wasn't recorded when this documentary was made. Jasons must have had singing leasons, because back in 1991 he really couldn't sing. But he sure can now!!! Love Wooden Boat :-)
and i found heaven is a shit song. but for could it be magic, didnt levine do a mix of that song that they al detested, so they broke into his studio after he left to take the demos and brig them to someone else? (he caught them in the act and screamed murder for them to get out and never ever ever come back) but thepoint is that remix was someone elses work - not his
also, why is ian levine such a big part of this? they all hated him, he treated them like shit screaming at them and stuff and putting pressure on them to "get it fucking right" 1st time or else!...
why is this so bloody pro-robbie?!!!! "He single handedly earned them their biggest hit so far" BULLSHIT!!!! robbies vocals in the group were great, yeah, but their success was sure as hell not all down to him. given all the robbie love/gary hatred, clearly this was made back when the sun shone out his ass and he could do no wrong. i'll admit i like gary better (he just seems to be a genuinely nicer more modest honest bloke) but even if i did preferr robbie this is still biased as hell!

I don't get it - who sings Take That's backing vocals now, on the contested song? Take That do! and they sound just like the single, don't they?!
HelenValerie 2 years ago 2
wow that ian levine is a bit of a prick.
none of these people seem to have a nice word to say about any member of TT except Robbie.
this was obviously made when Robbie had a better solo career than he does today.
TT are great nowadays and JASON CAN SING thank you very much, ever heard of Wooden Boat, Levine you twat?????

Gary hated Ian Levine. The guy wanted everything in one take.
Gary even called 'I Found Heaven' (which Levine wrote) the worst song any of them have ever recorded and he completely refuses to ever play it live.
