I personally did assume that the mystery man represented the dark self (or devil, meaning deceiver) and any negative aspect such as jealousy, fear, doubt, etc. that we may invite into our lives through ignorance. That's why I thought there was so much confusion with the main character as far as how he got into that predicament. Now it definitely seemed like jealousy was the main negative with the mob boss and the "lost" male characters.

It was, I believe, a deflection of the question which was obviously extremely loaded. The interviewer was trying to get him to portray himself on national TV a fan of pornography along with all the negative conotation that would come with it. Manson was smart enough not to fall for it. If you pay close attention to other interviews, they (interviewers) try to do this ALL THE TIME. Hence why I, for the most part, despise the media. -D
