I believe that was explained in the anime. Aizen and Gin chose Kira and Hinamori in order to split them up (apparently Aizen thought of their potential as a threat).

Aizen saw the potential that hinamori and izuru had in his plan and wanted to keep them close to him and Gin. he split renji from them because he was the one who could cause future problems for aizen. the other two were perfect tools for him.
