  • I got to operate that engine (without the caboose train of course). I once took a trip down there and "rented" it for an hour. My Dad, my brother, and me all got an hour operating time. It was an experience of a lifetime, I recommend it to anyone!

  • Last time I was at rail days in Portola was in the year 2005. UP 1983 was there and it was brand spanken new at the time. In 2004 I got a cab ride on the caboose train around the loop. There is an area of the loop by the UP yard called "Malfunction Junction" LOL! Doubt I will make it to this years rail days in Portola.
