Interesting note about this, and not sure it has been mentioned: As you can see, that is Matt Frenette on drums. He was already in his new band Loverboy, shopping for a record deal when this song reached #20 in Canada in February of 1980. So while his new band was looking for a record deal, he got to watch his old band sail up the charts
Hey what about Ken "Spider" Sinnaeve on the bass. He is a Canadian musician, best known for playing bass with Tom Cochrane and Cochrane's earlier band Red Rider.
Spider was a founding member of the band Streetheart prior to playing with Cochrane, making amongst others a live cover of "Under my Thumb". Ken Sinnaeve also played with The Guess Who in the summer of 1999 when original bassist Jim Kale took the summer off from touring. They are all fantastic musicians.
This song is one of only a few cover tunes worthy to be listened to. 2nd only to Roxy Music version of the Neil Young classic, Like a Hurricane. Most covers should never have been made.
I watched Streetheart perform at an outdoor venue in Yorkton, Sask. back in 1982. It was late August and a very cool night. Kenny Shields told the audience he froze his 'nads off. It was an awesome concert!
@Viperkal.....lol...I was at that concert too!! Great show! We had just the right amount of booze in our system too......good old Streetheart. I am trying to remember who opened the concert.
my very first live concert of all time was Streetheat, same year this same video had been made, I was pretty young at the time and it blew me away...I wonder what ever happened to john hannah? good guitar player
I saw Streetheart in the early 80s and again about 5 years ago and their singer's voice hasn't changed one bit -- still as cool and powerful as ever. They still rock!
@gtatix stones played at "el mocambo" in 77 & parts of that show are on their double album/disc "love you live" -- they played at "the horseshoe tavern" in 97 -- they have also played "r.p.m."(now called "the guvernment" -- (sic)) & the "palais royale" -- ever since hooking up with (canadian) concert promoter michael cohl for the "steel wheels" tour in 89, t.o. has become their place to rehearse before hitting the road again (saving their limited u.s. visa days for the concert dates themselves)
Streetheart always put on a great show, every time. I was always amazed how Kenny Shields could run all over the stage and still sing in tune, an amazing showman! This song seems slow compared to the shows I remember, but this is one of my favourites! I love the Stones' version, but I love this one just as much...possibly more.
@Gradhmhor27 Kenny rocks, I've known him all my life, he grew up with my mom. Class act and can still put on a hell of a show considering he's in his 60's.
Rolling Stones!! Maybe, and May be the greatest Rock N Roll Band,This is the great cover tune,The Stones should give it up too Streetheart!! Streethearts style is the best!
Thank you for this vid! I can't find Streetheart anywhere on i-tunes and just stumbled upon this when looking up the Rolling Stones! so glad to see all the Streetheart vids!! :) Just saw them live a month ago and met Kenny Shields. again. had a photo from 1963 with me and him when he was in Witness Inc. and he signed it and posed for another pic with me. Nice guy!
Holy crap! Great song all around but has this got to be the most underrated bass performance of all time? The slick synchronized build with the drums during the guitar solo and then those blistering fast runs! And then he walks up at top speed to the highest fret! I'm impressed who is the bass player??
Very hard to disagree. It's rare when a cover bests the original . This is a classic example, far better than the Stones version. Nazareth's take on Joni Mitchell's This Flight Tonight actually led to Joni conceding that it's 'a Nazareth song now'. Aside from those two I can't really think of any other instances when the cover was better than the original. A lot might think Motley Crue bettered Brownsville Station, but I like both versions and have no preference...

I am surprised that no one has mentioned that Matt Fernette (Loveboy) on drums and Paul Dean (Loveboy) on guitar.

Amazing band even now. Hannah went off and formed his own band "Hurricane Hanna" and the drummer went on to Loverboy. StreetHeart still tours Canada.

I saw this live around 1979 when they opened for April Wine - who at one time opened for the Stones in a private TO engagement [Horeshoe?]
I went backstage after the show and the front-man was totally bombed!
