Mantee could have been cast in Paramount films starring John Wayne ( The Sons of Katie Elder), or Director Howard Hawks ( Red Line 7000) or the many Hal Wallis films done at Paramount..

OK, that shot of the girls' behinds with the quip about "tight spots" is the epitome of class.

You could probably program an entire 24/7 cable channel with these '60s Bond ripoffs. I'd imagine that in most cases the trailers are a lot more fun than the actual movies.

I never realized Paul Mantee was the lead in anything other than Robinson Crusoe on Mars.

Mantee was a talented but underrated B-list (maybe C-list) actor who deserves to be better known. He could do lighthearted action-adventure, or be completely believable as a man struggling to survive on an alien world. Maybe he was fortunate NOT to have been blessed with Hollywood-handsome good looks. In RCOM, he didn't look like a leading man, he looked like an astronaut!
