The biggest fail of it is how it's not got all of the psp's game library and how your umds are useless but then again, it's just an upgrade aimed at people who don't already own psp's, it's not a replacement.

That's down to the refresh rate. I think that only occurs to early models (1000 and 2000). I'm sure I read somewhere that the 3000 and go will have a better refresh rate preventing the blurring/ghosting.
Anyway, as for controls... it depends on what's better for you but I've only ever read that it's an improvement on psp.

Zelda and Pokemon at their roots were top down games (like gta was). They were way better as 3D titles yet when top-down they still sold better than most ds titles, except for Gta Chinatown wars which is the only one that's m-rated.
Also, super mario bros is second most selling ds game and it's a side scroller. I'm sure it's got something to do with the price, especially when ds owners gave Gta Chinatown Wars such high ratings.

Very true but the fact is that Rockstar are only using psp as a last resort seeing as this game failed on ds when it came to sales and so if it sells like shit on psp, then who knows, Rockstar may never develop another psp gta game!
So, I would highly advise you and everyone who owns a psp to just get this game. Even if you aren't happy the way it is, at least it confirms the possibility of another psp gta...possibly San Andreas Stories!
As amazing as san andreas stories would be it would be impossible to fit it on the UMD disc. Although surely they could bring it out on psn as a bigger file seeing as everything is moving more towards digital? I never got why they didn't make bigger longer games for the PSP using 2 UMD's like you used to get for the longer ps1 games.

Well, I think it's because they wanted to develop it quickly for psp after the disappointing sales on ds so it wouldn't feel like an old game (imagine about 3 years after its release on ds, rockstar announces that its coming to psp, very few would care) and so they just threw some new content in and are releasing it on psp under a year later.
There will most likely be the comic style cutscenes. :S
Btw about the radio stations, I heard they're improving sound qaulity and adding 6 new radio stations (providing an extra 100 hours of music to the game).

Although surely they could bring it out on psn as a bigger file seeing as everything is moving more towards digital? I never got why they didn't make bigger longer games for the PSP using 2 UMD's like you used to get for the longer ps1 games.

lol very true but we've seen the results on ds. If it doesn't sell well on psp then as a result they'll give up on handhelds entirely!
And of course you like top down. Pokemon sold well, Animal crossing sold well, Legend of zelda sold well, etc.

Umm... It´s not a top view and it´s the same view in the PSP. And no it isnt shit. It sells much better than PSP. And Wii sells better than Xbox 360 or PS3.

Yes it is top down (though also slightly isometric at some points).
Yes, ds sells better than psp but hardcore/violent games sell better on psp because there are less casual gamers and more hardcore gamers.
Wii sells better than 360 and ps3 but ps3 and 360 have a much more hardcore gaming experience. Wii is good in its own right, but nintendo have made it too casual.

Well, I think it's because they wanted to develop it quickly for psp after the disappointing sales on ds so it wouldn't feel like an old game (imagine about 3 years after its release on ds, rockstar announces that its coming to psp, very few would care) and so they just threw some new content in and are releasing it on psp under a year later.

LOL this is a good reason why psp is better than ds: ds fanboys get excited by games like this. Psp owners have such high expectations from psp that when it gets a ds standard game, they are disappointed.
I'm disappointed too but dude, I'm still gonna buy it because I don't want to lose Rockstar to nintendo (theyre only making this game for psp because of ds's disappointing sales) and so if we all buy it, they'll make more games for psp and not ds! :D

No, these are the psp screens. Search chinatown wars ds screens on google and you'll see a difference. One would be: 16 to 9 widescreen for psp version.
Two is better lighting and visual effects.
Three is better graphics.
Four is minimap in the corner of screen.
Five is less emphasis on celshading visuals. ;)
