  • @xXBifourXx I'd like to point out he's norweigen. So he speaks that, he also apparently speaks Japanese, and he speaks pretty good English. That makes him at least trilingual. And you're pointing out a few minor errors? On that note; your English isn't perfect.

  • @xXBifourXx I was pointing out that, to be that petty when the man obviously speaks three languages at least, is stupid. Anyone stutters when they're trying to think of the right word, even native born speakers sometimes repeat the same word when they're trying to think of a particular way of speaking / phrase / word.

  • i disagree , he had bad days at subaru cause of mechanical problems , he drove 5/6th with a xara from 2003 , and within 2 rallies he could match sordo he had a few weeks compared to years of experience that the others have , he can become a big factor for the championship this year !

  • The new one is too round. Don't get me wrong the ones in the early 90s are just epic. They were 'round' but they still had that damn sexy body. The one after this one was okay, but the front was getting too weird. The new one doesn't exists in my book. To me, Subaru dropped the Impreza so we only have these classic to oogle.

  • They are both great cars, but personally i like the STi more.. Also you can't just say STi or EVO, since every year they brought a new one.

    Evo 9 was the best Evo and the STi 2007 was the best STi (beside the 22b STi which is very rare)

  • but you have to pull the engine every time you want to upgrade the STi thats the only reason i dnt like it.. otherwise its my choice just because of the looks.. there both great cars but i like the STi more nd the sound of that boxer :D

  • I agree with pretty much everything you said. Although the older Impreza's will always be the best cars ever created ;D. I never really liked the Evo's much but as of which ones best... either 8 or 9. I think the newest Impreza and the Evo 10 are both not very good compared to previous cars.

  • STI. not seen many evos in dirt. in usa the evo uses dodge neon four cylinder. neon is frial. STI is tough. fast and wicked in usa

  • the point is,the regulations say you can have only 300bhp, but there is plenty of torque ;)

  • Regulation don't say anything about power but all car have the same air intake restrictor that limited the power to about 300hp when it was implemented. Today's engines are a little more powerful but not by much.

  • Not many people know what 2009 rally impreza will exactly be like... There are new regulations for 2009.

    On a WRC car almost nothing is stock, the engine is nothing like stock and it's not 300bhp, rather something about 400bhp, has about 600 - 700 Nm of torque. Not to mention all features that affect the handling, which is the most important thing about a rally car. Compared to this even an STI pretty much sucks...

  • u lie about the hp...regulations limit it to 300 but torque on these cars is rediculous..and no subaru wrc and mitsubishi might not be doing it either...i have hard rumoroe of suzuki entering tho

  • Theoretically you could pull out 320bhp, but realistically they are pushing around 300-310bhp.

  • No, no, no. WRC cars have something below 400hp, and torque is about 700Nm I think. You can read about the power of these cars somewhere on the official WRC website. There's an article about S2000+ cars which are about to have something around 350hp, which they say is lower than WRC cars.

  • the 2009 subaru rally car has 300bhp @ 5500rpm and has 480trq @ 3000rpms and all rally cars have to use a 34mm restricter plate on their turbo which is a IHI which i believe is stock on newer sti's and they have a 2.0L H4 16valve engine that geuss what comes in the stock car so compared to cars on the street that are built by enthusist these cars make less and do more so thats why i say close to stock.

  • That's not fair, I'd like to see what he's like in a car like the Citroen. Solberg's input is one of the main reasons the new STI looks like it does, put the wheels to the corners he says, the old car seemed to always be dragging a big trunk through every corner.

    "drifting" was used by superbike racers. iforgot the name, but there was a driver of superbikes in the 80s and tsuchiya liked how his driving style was and practiced it with a car. everyone made fun of him because they said drifting has no place in the road racing world so he practice and practiced and got it down right. he then brought the first drift competition to japan in the late 80s and now drifting is what it is today.

  • it all depends how fast u want it..my friend has a 04 lancer ralliart and he put in a intake and a high-power HKS exhaust and its suprisingly waaayyy faster than stock...both of those items will cost u around $400 if u get a good exhaust......for a subaru it might be more expensive..imprezas are fast as is so those items will make a good street car

  • an intake abd catback for only $400? hmm doesn't sound legit. anywho, intakes for sti's vary from $125-$350. exhausts, depends on if you want catback or turboback. that should net you at least 30hp over stock, depending on your type of exhaust. and by the way, don't ever compare a lancer ralliart to an sti lol!

  • Well, it is considerably cheaper and is proven to get more bang for the buck HP on a Evo than an STi. But As far as reliability goes, Evo isnt even a distant second or third.

  • On that model lancer, those mods probably made like 3-4 horsepower. Its probably the extra sound, that makes it seem faster

  • The race car is purpose built. It ways less, has special engine components to deliver the best power figure and modified suspension. But it lacks durability and has absolutely no comfort, something the road car has. Also, the race car is on race tires and that will also make a great difference.

    So what I´m trying to say is that no matter how much you modify your street car, it won´t come any near the race car, unless you do extreme stuff, so don´t even be slightly disappointed, the sti is great!

  • rally racing is one of my favorite kinds of motorsports, and I always knew about pacenotes, but I never really imagined it to be so deeply involving and technical... this video illustrates that clearly.

  • I don't really know why people bash automatics, I drive a 1MZFE powered automatic, and I've beat most of the other drivers around here. It's all about throttle control and watching your RPM's to make sure the computer shifts right.

  • Clutch > Torque converter. You can't even argue this point. That's the major reason. Control and predictability are others.

    I don't care if people drive automatics, but anytime you try to substitute a torque converter for a clutch you are giving up some performance.
